Smogon Simple Questions & Suggestions Thread

this feels a little silly, but since in America we have daylight savings time pushing time forward and hour, does that change the times i havr scheduled with my opponents in diff timezones? (for example, i scheduled with someone at 2pm +1 on sunday, would that become 8am for me instead of 7am when it comes to scheduling?) to clarify- i'm CST/-6

if i wake up too early or too late cz of DST i'm gonna get cooked by activity LOL

It depends on the date. In the example you gave, if the opponent is still gmt +1 on the day that you scheduled, then you would have to show up at their 2pm. If that means you go from gmt -6 to gmt -5 due to springing forward 1 hour, then you would have to show up for the game at 8am

is there a collection of battle move animations?like for instance when you use bullet punch theres a small animation that plays were the opponent gets hit, is there a transparent version of that?i know theres a big thread about move animations but im not sure if showdown uses animated gifs or theres some kind of code that actually makes them play, thanks

These suspect pages have a section for the start time. Would adding another header to list the end time be feasible? Or even desirable?

Not a gif, the sprites that make up the move animations just actually move around.

Could you add '(visual bugs)', '(including visual bugs)' or '(e.g. visual bugs)' to the PS! Bug Report Form in front of 'Client'? Many bugs are reported as mechanics issues, even though the post itself states that they are visual bugs. This is understandable, as many of the reports come from non-programmers who may not know the difference between client and server. Since I mostly ignore client bugs' threads, this addition would help speed up the triage process.

Is there a thread for sharing good music you've found? (Not your own of course.) but like music you listen to and can share with others? I've found a ton of great ones and would love to share them

I dislike the fact that anyone can follow you on Smogon and it just appears on your profile with the user having no way to circumvent or prevent this. The 'ignore' feature removes this from view but it doesn't change how your profile is displayed, and it also makes things a hassle if you're paired with them for a tour and perhaps don't see their scheduling attempt or hosting a tour and can't see their messages in the case where they've scheduled but it doesn't appear to you. If a followers feature exists, naturally an option to remove followers should accompany it, and I do hope that this is implementable.

Unfortunately this isn't a feature on XenForo so it really isn't implementable. Have had this conversation regarding different websites and there currently aren't even add-ons you can pay for that improve the follower feature in this way.

Hey. My friend on PS—LukarioGames—was locked from PMs. I tried to pm him but it replied “The user "lukariogames" is locked and cannot be PMed.” What can I do? And what causes a user to be blocked? What did he even do?

What can I do?
You can't do anything but wait for the punishment to expire. Locked users cannot PM other users or be PMed by other users unless they are global staff.
And what causes a user to be blocked?
Breaking the PS global rules typically: https://pokemonshowdown.com/rules
What did he even do?
We don't share details of other user's punishments on request, you can always ask your friend for details either after their lock expires or outside of PS.

Is there anyway I can get my password reset on Pokemon showdown? My username is Fogel123 (same as smogon) but for some reason it refuses to accept the password I’ve been using for a few years and I am not sure why.

Is there anyway I can find the sprites for the April Fools Day Pokémon? Is there like a database or something I can look for or are they just deleted afterwards?

Hello.
I noticed today that you can't really use the searchbar to find threads which have "multiple word" sentences. For example, if you want to look up "Crunch Zamazenta" in the OU subforums, you won't get posts that directly have the words "Crunch" and "Zamazenta" together (like, right next to each other), you'll also get any post that includes both of those words even if they are at the opposite ends of the post.
Example:

Yet if I go into that post, and I "Control F" the sentence Crunch Zamazenta there are no results. Searching it via Google in quotation marks and "site:" doesn't work either, since you can't really use it for subforums. Sure you can use it for just https://www.smogon.com but you'll get results from every single thread, not just the specific one you are looking for.

Related yet unrelated, searchbar also has some issues when finding words that are "similar" in a way... If you look up "freezes" you won't get JUST posts with the word freezes specifically, you'll also get posts that have the word Freeze (like Freeze-Dry) in them, which can be really frustating.

TLDR: adding a "quotation marks" option sort of like Google and other search engines have would be really useful, ty :chatot:
