Smogon Simple Questions Thread

One of the threads in C&C is probably ideal:

If it's something else, it may be that the analysis is receiving an update (check the C&C subforum for the tier you are looking at) or that it hasn't been cleaned up yet or will be getting a revamp in the future (think removing Roaring Moon references from an OU analysis on a niche mon, for example).

most subforums for a format have a Tour schedule which has dates for all their circuit tournaments, which usually includes ladder tours. EG in Ubers circuit thread you can see that signups went up on April 7th and UU's circuit thread says their Ladder Tour will start May 11th

Hello, it has been a while since I have been posting in the forums, been a little more active in discord but even then not too much. The Ubers forums is dead so I can’t post otherwise be double posting, and I have also been quite active in a different community as well during this time.

So, I have a not too simple question.

I have looked over the community in question, the WBO community. I have seen so many things wrong with it, from the lack of resources on metagame development and shape, the precise specifications of various parts and just lots of mixed opinions in general and a lack of a standardized and professional system like the suspect system like ours, analyses, tierlists, metagame councils, ETC.

I feel like that many core aspects and mechanics that Smogon had developed over the years could really benefit the Beyblade community, so is there a place where I can read up on the core philosophies and systems of smogon and how they work for when I need to explain it to the people outside of smogon? Especially the complex ban part, I need to explain to the WBO people on why it’s not really good as a normal ban. (Example: Diabolo fusion wheel combined with BD145 together as a combo is
Banned.)

Seriously, I need to help em, even if Beyblade and Pokemon are different, many aspects still overlap.

That would be what is termed as a "complex ban" which are generally frowned upon and avoided wherever possible.
 
Uh curious, is it supposed to happen when you click on the next battle of a Bo3 battle it will just show, this happens for every Bo3 battle and it feels awkward, or is it just how it is

I think one of the issues with complex bans is that it gives too many options making it difficult to reach agreement. For example, why not ban Mewtwo over level 70, or allow Groudon without physical moves, or ban Arceus + EVS + status moves + STAB? When allowing only simple bans you have less options and thus less things to argue about making it easier to reach agreement.
 
Is it a glitch or an oversight or left on purpose but there is one thing that bothers me and I can't find its logic

Psychic Noise Is it a PSY type attack ? So why does it affect Dark Pokémon like Tera Crystal in Dark type ? I don't understand and I would like someone to explain it to me... i lose a game when I could heal myself and still get hit by an attack that is not supposed to hit me due to my type...

Did this interaction occur with primarina? If this was the case, then primarina's ability liquid voice turns all sound moves into water type moves, of which psychic noise is.

Oh yes, that's right... It was with Primarina... Thank you very much and sorry I forgot this detail so I understand better now I will be more careful in the next games - thank you again :Dondozo: :Primarina:
 
Hey guys, IDK where I should post this, but for some reason I can't log into my smogon account through PS. I can only log in through one of my alts, does anybody know why this is? I'm doing the same exact things for each of my accounts but it only works for one.
 
How to reset your password for Pokemon Showdown? Remember the password, but it's not working, no matter how many combinations I try. Should I just try to claim my name for the account or something? Would rather not make an entirely new PS account...thanks in advance!
 
My roommate has been wanting to participate in tournaments but is unsure if I would be banned because we're on the same ip. They've been playing on ladder with a proxy but as we all know you're locked if you do. So would it be ok if they had a smogon account on the same ip?

Don't know about the Smogon side of things but you don't need a proxy to play on ladder, Showdown alts aren't banned like they are on the forums so you're totally free to have Showdown accounts on the same IP.

Thanks. I'll wait on the smogon side. I know alts aren't banned but they are a different person and if they did anything banworthy (not like they would) I wouldn't want me to be affected. I'll tell them to disable their proxy soon.
