Smogon's first Create-A-Team - Part 3

What should be our first pokemon?

Alright! Sorry about the delay, but I was getting my thoughts together on how we were going to proceed with this. Once again my thanks to those involved and participating as, so far, this has been slowing down a bit, but hopefully it will pick up now!

That said, we're finally going to choose the first pokemon to be on our team, whether it be the beginning of a bulky hard-hitting team, a type covering fast moving team, a set-up and sweep team, or a team that has one pokemon that the others are trying to take out the counters for.

So, heres the deal: after you vote for a pokemon on the poll come into the topic and explain why you voted for said pokemon, and try to convince others as to why they should vote for that pokemon. You should suggest a set and what type of team that the pokemon would fit best on as well as suggestions for what kind of pokemone would be most useful on the team with it. So we've got one poll that leads to another poll, and another etc. Untill we've figured out what pokemon we want on the team, and their sets. (The sets will however be chosen after the pokemon).

So, here we go!

Ninjask Jolly
252Speed/atk 6HP
Substitute
Swords Dance
Baton Pass
Agility

Pretty cool to pass down Agility AND Swords Dance to something REALLY bulky as Snorlax...

I think we should make 2-3 passers and pass agility and Swords Dance and Dragon Dance to Bulky pokes

I want SUICUNE please.
Great set up-poke, has reasonable offense and defenses. Can also Phaze to start set up. My best team was made around her, and she is sure a beast.

I voted for Mamoswine, just because he deserves more love.

Mamoswine (♂) @ Life Orb / Choice Band
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 56 HP/252 Atk/200 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Stone Edge
- Ice Fang

Voted Gallade because the CB version is virtually impossible to wall. Hippowdon and Skarm are 2HKO'd, Psychics fall to Night Slash/X-Scissor, Weezing has no chance, Gliscor is OHKO'd...etc. The perfect Choice Bander. Could even throw out a Choice Hypnosis if we can't provide sleep support anywhere else on the team for whatever reason.

And I'm deadly serious; it's not a Smogon team without Weezing.

Everyword of this is the truth!

Does Ninjask REALLY need to Baton Pass Agility? Isn't that what Speed Boost is for?

Starmie @ choise scarf
modest
4 HP, 252 special attack, 252 speed
~psychic
~surf
~ice beam
~thunderbolt

This thing is really anti-lead and it kills choice scarfers such as garchomp and heracross. Overall its coverage pwns and almost always gets you kills when you need them.

Everyword of this is the truth!

Thirding this. Gallade hits insanely hard and can usually survive a hit or 2 if its name isn't "Brave Bird". Though I'd say a scarf Gallade might be better as a lead.

Mamoswine is my 2nd choice, with a weird set and a defensive spread (not neglecting attack) consisting of Ice Shard, Earthquake, Stealth Rock and Protect.

~ice beam
~thunderbolt

Psychic leads gets devastated by Pursuit users like TTar and Weavile.. and this Starmie won't 1HKO.

i chose Azelf, can outspeed most of the major leads, and deliver some nasty plot boosted attacks. Here is the set i would reccomend, I run it and it is very effective:

Azelf @ Focus Sash
Timid
252 SpA/252 Spe/6 HP
-Nasty Plot
-Flamethrower
-Thunderbolt
-Psycic

Grass knot may be a better way to get rid of it's counters(Tyranitar), but i like Thunderbolt as a more consistent offensive move.

Mamoswine @Expert Belt
Adamant
252 Atk / Enough speed for 222 / Rest in HP and Def
Earthquake
Stone Edge
Ice Shard
Stealth Rock

Mamoswine is the best pokemon ever. :)

I've loved him since he was UU. :>

Lucario for me of course.
I like it because it is so versatile. It is really hard to counter until it attacks. Walls are just free setups for this pokemon.

I vote for Electivire
Being weak to only ONE typing and being able to carry a set that deals super effective hits agaisnt 11 of the 17 cardinal types I figure why not carry it.

Well I wanted to go with my signature pokemon Swords Dance mixed Lucario, but I will vote for that later because we needed to get a lead down. I voted azelf, more specifically a hasty/ naive or mild/ rash choice scarf Hp Ice/ Fire Blast/ Psychic/ U Turn Azelf, which is simply one of the best leads around.

Yes, it should be Gallade.
this this preferably

Gallade @ Choice Bnad
Trait: Steadfast
EVs: 64HP / 252Atk / 192Spd
Adamant nature(+Atk, -SpAtk)
- Close Combat
- Psycho Cut
- Ice Punch
- Night Slash

amirite?

I know we all hate Gengar, but how about an original crippler I made???

Gengar @ Focus Sash
Jolly
252 Spd/252 Atk
-Will-o-wisp
-Hypnosis
-Mean Look
-Explosion

Sleep whatever is in, then burn the switch in. If they don't switch in, either blow it up or explode. If Blissey or Snorlax switches in, they lose 12.5% from getting burned, and then you explode. If you predict a switch to a cleric after you burn something (1st Sleep, 2nd Burn, 3rd.....) then Mean Look it and explod enext turn. Works great!
