Project SS UU Victim Of The Week v2- Week 53: Darmanitan (Submissions)

:bw/Rhyperior: @ Leftovers
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 248 HP / 16 Atk / 244 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Smack Down
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Swords Dance

Rhyperior is a hard counter to celesteela, as it cannot touch rhyperior, and it can switch in on meteor beam -> smack down -> earthquake. Celesteela 5hko's rhyperior with air slash so it needs to get insane hax to be able to successfully break through rhyperior. Rhyperior also if successfully forces out celesteela is able to counter it even harder as it now does not have the power boost of meteor beam and all its attacks bounce of rhyperior

+1 252+ SpA Celesteela Meteor Beam vs. 248 HP / 244 SpD Rhyperior: 107-126 (24.7 - 29%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252+ SpA Celesteela Air Slash vs. 248 HP / 244 SpD Rhyperior: 101-119 (23.3 - 27.4%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery

16+ Atk Rhyperior Smack Down vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Celesteela: 79-94 (23.5 - 28%) -- 89.8% chance to 4HKO
16+ Atk Rhyperior Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Celesteela: 314-372 (93.7 - 111%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO

ROTOM HAS A PURPOSE AGAIN!! YAYYYY

Rotom-Wash @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Defog
- Trick

Okay so rotom 2HKOs with t bolt. It can switch in on any of steelas move and beat it. If it reads a switch it can also just trick and make a defensive mon useless. Tricking steela also isn't bad .

0 SpA Rotom-Wash Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Celesteela: 200-236 (59.7 - 70.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ SpA Celesteela Meteor Beam vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Rotom-Wash: 119-140 (39.1 - 46%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

+1 252+ SpA Celesteela Air Slash vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Rotom-Wash: 84-99 (27.6 - 32.5%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

Even at + 2 rotom outspeeds. And the great part is that if steela is forced out it probably won't get another chance if it already used meteor beam because it's so set up reliant. But rotom has the strength to counter it twice anyways. I chose scarf defensive rotom because pivot is outclassed by thundy imo.

:ss/swampert:
Swampert @ Choice Band
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Flip Turn

Choice Band Swampert is a very strong check to Autotomize Celesteela. Celesteela has to get a +1 to get the 2HKO, while Swampert can easily 2HKO with Liquidation.

252+ SpA Celesteela Air Slash vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Swampert: 127-151 (37.2 - 44.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
+1 252+ SpA Celesteela Air Slash vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Swampert: 192-226 (56.3 - 66.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Swampert Liquidation vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Celesteela: 198-234 (59.1 - 69.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Jirachi @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Atk / 84 SpD / 172 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- U-turn
- Thunder Punch
- Healing Wish

Submitting Scarf Jirachi as a check to Celesteela as it outspeeds Celesteela at 2+, Pretty straight forward with Thunder Punch, Bring Jirachi in when Celesteela is at 75% or lower than click Thunder Punch till it’s KO’ed, 84 SpD allows Jirachi to live a 1+ Flamethrower from Celesteela at full health in order to fully deal with it.

Modest Nature
- Overdrive

- Sludge Wave
- Boom
burst

Gear

Toxtricity is able to check Autotomize Celesteela since it can double its own Speed as well with Shift Gear and OHKO with Overdrive. It also has enough bulk to take a +1 Meteor Beam most of the time.
252+ SpA Punk Rock Toxtricity Overdrive vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Celesteela: 338-398 (100.8 - 118.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ SpA Celesteela Air Slash vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Toxtricity: 79-93 (27.1 - 31.9%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
252+ SpA Celesteela Flamethrower vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Toxtricity: 126-149 (43.2 - 51.2%) -- 5.9% chance to 2HKO

Slowking is able to tank every move that steela throws at it and heal it off with slack off and can 4HKO steela with scald (dragon tail can be ran on king if u wanna just safely phaze it out)

Some Calcs: 252+ SpA Celesteela Meteor Beam vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Slowking: 85-101 (21.5 - 25.6%) -- 0.5% chance to 4HKO

252+ SpA Celesteela Air Slash vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Slowking: 79-94 (20 - 23.8%) -- guaranteed 5HKO

Ditto @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Imposter
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Transform

Ditto makes a great check to Meteor Beam Celesteela since it will always turn into a faster version of it, with all the boosts the opposing Celesteela has already accrued. It also is an excellent tool against the Hyper Offense teams this Celesteela is commonly found on, since it can repeat the same trick against all of the other boosting threats likely to be found on such teams.

Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

- Knock Off

thundurus checks celesteela by knocking off the power herb, preventing it from immediately threatening it with meteor beam. Thundurus then KOs with volt switch, making it a solid check.

Hatterene (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 244 Def / 12 Spe
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Draining Kiss
- Psyshock
- Mystical Fire

This week we have the mad hatter Hatterene! I'm being honest for a minute this is a filler week lol, I don't like Hatterene much but its decently high on the VR so it's somewhat a threat in the eyes of the playerbase. The main threat I have in mind will be the double points week next, so stay tuned for that. Anyway, Hatterene can act as a fierce win condition on the right teams at the right moment with its decent bulk on both ends. How will you stuff this hat? Submissions are due December 26 at 11:59 PM GMT-8.

:ss/celesteela:
Celesteela @ Leftovers
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Heavy Slam
- Flamethrower
- Leech Seed
- Protect

Celesteela has been an excellent pick in the metagame recently as a sturdy physical wall to many threats, and acts as a counter to Hatterene, 2HKOing it with Heavy Slam and taking Hatterene's Mystical Fire easily.

0 Atk Celesteela Heavy Slam (120 BP) vs. 252 HP / 244+ Def Hatterene: 198-234 (62.2 - 73.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Hatterene Mystical Fire vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Celesteela: 102-120 (25.6 - 30.1%) -- 0.4% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

Jirachi @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- U-turn
- Thunder Punch / Trick
- Healing Wish

Jirachi serves as a strong check to Hatterene. If lucky enough, Iron Head Serene Grace scumbag flinches can completely shut down Hatterene, and if running Trick, Jirachi can cripple Hatterene. Mystical Fire does 2HKO if Hatt is at +1, which is why this is only a check.

252 Atk Jirachi Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 244+ Def Hatterene: 164-194 (51.5 - 61%) -- 93.4% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Excadrill @ Leftovers
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance
- Rapid Spin

Excadrill is a solid check to Hatterene, being only 2 hit ko'd by Mystical Fire and never dying to +1 Mystical Fire. Iron Head never OKO's but if you switch in on Kiss or Shock Hatt is put in a terrible spot. Failing to KO you and risking either a flinch from Iron Head, or you setting up an SD. Excadrill isn't a long term defensive answer, but through offensive pressure + lefties you're able to come in hard on Hatt at least a couple times during each match

0 SpA Hatterene Mystical Fire vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Excadrill: 200-236 (55.4 - 65.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

+1 0 SpA Hatterene Mystical Fire vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Excadrill: 298-352 (82.5 - 97.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

YAYYYY my " favourite" Pokemon aegislash......... I hate myself

:SS/Aegislash:

Aegislash @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Shadow Claw
- Shadow Sneak
- Swords Dance

0 SpA Hatterene Mystical Fire vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Aegislash-Shield: 106-126 (40.6 - 48.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

+2 252+ Atk Aegislash-Blade Shadow Claw vs. 252 HP / 244+ Def Hatterene: 398-470 (125.1 - 147.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+1 0 SpA Hatterene Mystical Fire vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Aegislash-Shield: 158-186 (60.5 - 71.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Aegi just switches in on Hatt and then wins. The worst case scenario is if it Mystical fires at you. Then you get your weakness policy boost and OHKO with Claw. If it calm minds you take the mystical fire, SD and then the next turn you Claw it to death. Aegi is extremely hard to check or counter and getting to plus 4 if you get lucky is great. But even at just +2 because of weakness policy is dangerous. I hate aegislash so much......

:Bw/Quagsire: @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Haze
- Recover
- Toxic

Quagsire walls hattrene every day of the week with unaware and haze it is able to stop its boost and with that it is able to allow a teammate to beat it that would otherwise struggle with hattrene with several CM boosts up its belt such as sp. def jirachi, chansey, and CM slowking to beat it. Quagsire gets 5hko. Quagsire threatens hattrene with burns and makes sure hattrene is unable to break through using the 48 PP of haze. Quagsire can also switch in while its low on hp as with this set it outspeeds hattrene naturally and is able to recover up or haze away its boosts any time of the week

0 SpA Hatterene Psyshock vs. 252 HP / 160+ Def Quagsire: 99-117 (25.1 - 29.6%) -- 14.1% chance to 4HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Hatterene Draining Kiss vs. 252 HP / 76 SpD Quagsire: 90-106 (22.8 - 26.9%) -- possible 5HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Submitting Miensha...oh wait.

:sm/chandelure:
Burn the Witch (Chandelure) (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Overheat
- Shadow Ball
- Flamethrower
- Sleep Talk

Submitting my dusty Chandelure as a check since even without Specs its Shadow Ball has a (slim) chance of OHKOing Hatterene just by default, meaning it can switch into Calm Mind and still threaten a potential OHKO. With Specs, Overheat is guaranteed to OHKO Hatterene without boosts too, meaning unless Hatterene has Blissey back up, they have to guess for something else to likely explode if they want to switch. Also, while Chandelure sadly takes a chunk from Psyshock even by default, it can switch into Psyshock at least once without instantly exploding like Salazzle, and that's literally the only move Hatterene has that threatens it; switching into Mystical Fire is of course hilarious since then even Flamethrower becomes a guaranteed OHKO. Finally, even +1 Psyshock surprisingly isn't outright guaranteed to OHKO Chandelure if Rocks are on the field:

Chandelure's threats:
252 SpA Choice Specs Chandelure Shadow Ball vs. +1 252 HP / 0 SpD Hatterene: 276-326 (86.7 - 102.5%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Chandelure Overheat vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Hatterene: 337-397 (105.9 - 124.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Flash Fire Chandelure Flamethrower vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Hatterene: 349-412 (109.7 - 129.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Hatterene's threats:
0 SpA Hatterene Psyshock vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Chandelure: 123-145 (47.1 - 55.5%) -- 76.6% chance to 2HKO
+1 0 SpA Hatterene Psyshock vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Chandelure: 184-217 (70.4 - 83.1%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Taking advantage of the lack of counters submitted and the rule presented here, I am nominating wishtect jirachi as a counter to Hatterene, being able to pivot into it a lot throughout the game while healing itself with wish and chipping it with Iron Head or U-turn
