That was part of the response I was working on. Yanma can't learn either them before then. Yanmega can at least learn Air Slash in DP. How peculiar.EDIT: Yanmega can't use Bug Buzz or Air Slash as it learns them after level 50.
Hence the "First" in the title of the tourney thread.Lorak you really should have another tournament... Anyways I'm sure this whole X-Scissors problem will get solved...
You learn something new every day.No wait I was wrong, Yanmega gets Air Slash at level 49, but yanma gets it at 54.

Yeah, catching the stuff took forever. I waited for over a week for Breloom to show up in the marsh, and it finally did the day I battled against ViVi.It really is a pretty fast metagame. There is a general lack of fire users too. Houndoom, the nidos, and dragonair are the main ones that come to mind. The hardest thing is having to actually catch stuff in FR/LG and R/S because you cant even synchronize for the natures. The Nidoking I led with is actually LAX! =P
He hasn't been online since before the posting of this thread.Nice battle.
But hey, Goodbar hacks?!
He said nothing so far..
I wondered this as well. Likewise, it learns Aerial Ace, which would be SR against Vileplume.X-Scissor = 15 pp, 80 power, 100% accuracy, type=Bug, Heracross cannot learn this.
Megahorn = 10 pp, 120 power, 85% accuracy, type=Bug, Heracross can learn after level 50 or if both parents know it.
I'm rather perplexed as to how a bug move with less power would be put onto heracross, so am awaiting for Mr_Goodbar's explanation as to what happened, or whether x-scissor was perhaps mistaken for something else.
Edit: I see rules state it cannot be over level 50 and must be caught with safari ball.
Only legitimate bug move it can have at or under level 50 is fury cutter as a platinum move tutor with a 20 pp, 10 power, 95% accuracy.
Supe said:If I let plume die, Hera will come in and CC Rhyperior. If I let Rhyperior die, Hera will come in and X-Scissor plume.
He might have just thought Hera learned X-Scissor because it was a bug type. Most bug types do learn it after all.
Heracross cannot learn Megahorn until level 55, so it was illegal in your tournament. That's why he used X-Scissor.I wondered this as well. Likewise, it learns Aerial Ace, which would be SR against Vileplume.
Well I know I thought Heracross learned X-Scissor as well, so he could have easily done the same. Probably why he thought nothing of it when Heracross actually used the move, too.Supe said:Supe mentioned that hera might use X-Scissor before Goodbar accually used it. Unless Supe posted his opinions after the battle while knowing what Goodbar will use next, this looks rather weird.
You're probably right, I didnt look into Yanmega's movepool enough as I thought air slash would be doing almost all the work...truthfully I thought I'd never use HP ground but had it on there as a (bad) filler.Just theorymonning here, but I think Goodbar impeded himself a little by using HP Ground in this environment as it seems like a bad choice. What is HP Ground hitting exactly? Poison Types and Rhyperior? I imagine Specs Yanmega's best set would be Bug Buzz/Air Slash/Giga Drain/Psychic. Giga Drain downs Rhyperior and friends, whereas Psychic hits all the Poison types a lot harder than HP Ground. *shrugs* I just can't see any use for HP Ground beyond the extra 5BP on Ampharos, Drapion and Raichu (you can tell I'm putting way too much thought into this but I'm quite intrigued by this metagame lol).
I think the point of the level 50 limit was to limit the moves in the tournament. It makes it more fun and leaves room for some creativity.
No thanks. Things seem to work nicely as is.LOL, Hera used X-Scissor!! Lots of pokemons are lacking their main offensive move in this metagame, maybe raise the level a bit? To like lv 60 or 70?
That is true!I think the point of the level 50 limit was to limit the moves in the tournament. It makes it more fun and leaves room for some creativity.
... All the more reason to leave it at 50, in case for some reason you wanted to use those Pokemon elsewhere? :|But every single metagame either in battle tower or shoddy, the level is either 100 or 50, it get boring after 50 and 100 repeated. Using a different level bar would make Safari metagame even more unique.
Alright... sorry I didn't explicitly state about not using game-altering devices to *teach* the moves. I thought it'd be enough to say what I said in the rules... sorry again. You fought well, and I'm sorry this happened. You're probably right, I didnt look into Yanmega's movepool enough as I thought air slash would be doing almost all the work...truthfully I thought I'd never use HP ground but had it on there as a (bad) filler.
Anyways there's not much I can say about X-Scizzor, I get lazy and I taught most of the moves using a hacking device because I can without altering anything important about the pokemon. I did not hack the pokemon, it was caught in my emerald and i still have one in there and can prove it if needed, likewise none of my other safari pokemon were hacked. I must have assumed it learned the bug move but did not... Lorak I'll concede the prize for this inconvienence, but i'd say it hardly changed the outcome of this battle, since heracross had EQ which at minimum would have 2HKOed. As for my other battles, I don't think I even used it, though you can ask the other contestents. Sorry about all this people and thanks for commenting/posting >.<
... Yeah, that.Aside from the little end-game mishap, I have to say that was an excellent battle Goodbar. As a tutor, I'm very proud at how far you've come. Just do your research next time =P
