Super Smash Bros 4 (Spoilers ITT)

That would be cool, especially if they worked in those Ferris Wheels somehow.

@below he doesn't need to get in, we could have that stage anyway. Although, i think it'd be cooler if it took place on the roofs.

If we end up getting Paper Mario as a character, I would be delighted to see this area as a stage:
Glitzville!

I think it'd be pretty easy to translate into a smash stage given the fact it's already suspended in the air / has a few buildings to climb on for use as platforms.

I feel like Paper Mario had his chance with Brawl and won't be getting in now. What if there were an item that would turn characters into Paper versions of themselves? It could just be cosmetic like the Smoke Bomb, or it could make characters super floaty like the parasol.

I don't think that's a very good argument against Paper Mario. Wario was an obvious candidate for a Melee newcomer but he didn't get in. By your logic, Wario shouldn't have been in Brawl because he had his chance with Melee.

is wario really popular enough for a second rep? like honestly i think that aside from being in mario he's rather obscure. not sure, though - maybe i just haven't been looking in the right places?
[still though kat and ana would be pretty sweet - ninja action going on there]

over mario kart and mario party?

That's still a Mario game.

i could argue that that would be yoshi but what difference does it make? If you're a 'spin-off' franchise in the first place, chances are you're too marginalized to have multiple characters

The amount of solo games Yoshi had is nothing compared to Wario and DK. Also, DK got Diddy and people are asking for Dixie, Funky and K. Rool, why can't Wario have one more?

Wario and Paper Mario are hardly comparable since Wario was/is still a relevant character. He's a staple of the Mario franchise, Paper Mario is just a form of Mario and there's no more reason to add him than there is Tanooki Mario or any other form. Dark Samus is in a similar position, I'd love to see her in but there's no way that's happening.

That wasn't my point at all, but OK. I don't see how being another Mario makes Paper Mario an impossibility considering we already had Dr. Mario and that Paper Mario's nature as a 2D character makes him being a Mario clone highly unfeasible since cloning is a way of saving time by recycling animations. Kinda tricky to do if the clone has much less depth.

Mario is not a spin-off of DK, they were both in the first two Donkey Kong games and branched off from the same point with Mario Bros. (first Mario appearance without DK) and DK3 (First DK appearance without Mario) respectively. I just said it was a Mario spin-off because they're both the same age and Mario is by far the most popular.

Now can we please get back on topic? We were having a very nice discussion about stages.

As far as stages go, I would be one of many that would really want to see more competitvely sound stages introduced. I'm all for cool stages like Pirate Ship and Port Town Aero Drive, but I wand a few more Smashvilles! I want some stuff like that, personally, to at least give some variety to the competitive environment, even if it is just the background and music.

I want stuff that's competitively viable but also dynamic. Port Town could've been perfect if not for the cars practically auto-killing you, being able to hit you on the platforms, and randomizing stage transformations (also this transformation needs a lower blast line to avoid walk-offs). Rainbow Cruise was also good, the only problem was that MK was too good on it. Norfair, all they need to do is remove the ledges on the platforms.
