@Crazymonkeyz- Machamp + Alakazam? I've done that recently. I think Mordock did, too.

EDIT: Giravoir-O

The wings are a little cluttered, and the middle left one is too thin, but I still like it.

Very very nice, it's exactly how I pictured it. Thank you very much.

Hi, I have a weird request.

Superghost's Machamp/Blissey sprite is one of the best sprites I've ever seen (for the record, here it is).
th_Superbliss.png

I was wondering if anyone could humor me and make a back sprite for this awesome monstrosity?

I'm suprised no one else did this. Anyway this is what I came up with:

Yes the feet are horrible, I just couldn't make them look good :/

I'm glad somebody stepped up, that looks awesome.

The Mantyke, I'll work on a back sprite for you tomorrow, I have some other sprite projects to work on tomorrow as well.

Nothing special here, just some simple quick fusions I made today. I was thinking of maybe making something more complicated if I can figure out what it could be.

Finally got around to doing the Lugia revamp I promised. The shading took quite a while, and I had to update the shape of the eye blade from the original, but overall I was able to stay closer to the original sprite than I was with the Tyranitar.

Sorry 'bout the wait. A lot of unexpected things came up. Well, better late than never.

The only criticism I have is that the eye-blade you can completely see should be pointed on the end, according to modren-day concept art.

Could some of the really good spriters rate these? Circle anything horrible or w/e? I just want opinions on my first two sprites.

I scratched the chest on the Pidgeot and Staraptor fusion. I also scratched the shading on the wing.

For Graveler and Machamp, I scratched some of the belt and underwear, then the bottom left hand was completely scratched. Shape, shading, everything. the top right was based off Graveler's FRLG sprite.

Pink, welcome to the world of spriting. I am excited to see that even though you are only on your second? fusion, you are already bravely venturing into the art of scratch spriting. Since my expertise is in scratching, and I try to encourage people into doing more scratch spriting, I'll offer my critique on the nifty little hand you scratched for the graveler sprite. While this was a good start, there were a lot of errors, so I'll go step by step.

dh46td_th.jpg

1. The colors you used are different than the colors in the rest of your sprite. I don't know where you got those yellow and gray hues, but they aren't anywhere else in your sprite.

2. The outline is too thick where it becomes slanted (the top of the middle finger and the bottom of the palm). Remember, always make outlines one-pixel thick, which means if you have a slanted outline, you shouldn't have adjacent pixels.

3. The tip of the middle finger is too small, too round, and the outline is too dark. The lower finger is also a bit too thin. Graveler has wide, oval shaped finertips. Separating the fingertip from the finger with a black outline makes the fingertip look flat and completely disconnected from the finger. Instead, you should use the lighter outline color and even the shading color to gently create the crease that separates fingertip from finger.

4. Your outline colors dont match the shading. Rule-of-Thumb: any outline that is facing towards your light source (top-left), and isn't shaded from the lightsource should be colored with something other than black. outlines that are shaded from the light (bottom-right) will be black.

5. The wrist is too thin. It actually looks like the arm ends before it reaches the back of the hand.

Here's that same hand in which I edited the mistakes. It's not perfect mind-you, but I think you can see the difference and where the differences are.

I hope this is useful for you. I'm always willing to help anyone brave enough to attempt scratch spriting. Keep incorporating scratching into your sprites, and soon you'll be scratching out whole sprites from nothing.

Yay. I'm done. It looks like a psychotic killer, doesn't it? Oh, and its name is Sunkrazed, not Sunhoot or Hootkern or any other fusions of their names. :)

@ Pink: I'm glad that you're starting to get into spriting, and the highest form of it (scratching) no less. I can see that you have some real potential and I look forward to seeing more of your work in the near future.

I think most of the people here can testify that spriting is a pretty addictive hobby, so expect to have hours of your life sucked away as you sit in front of your computer screen carefully placing and (re)coloring pixels.

Like TVboyCanti said, if you have any scratching or even general spriting questions, don't be afraid to send a PM my way also.

@ TVboyCanti: Thanks for the in depth critique! It was exactly what I wanted xD. In my defense (xD) I'm pretty sure I grabbed every color from Graveler's sprite..

The Light Gray that covered most of his palm can be found in his mouth. The middle line between the teeth. However, looking at it, that is the only place I can really find it. They never used it on the arms or hands, as far as I can see. So it wasn't really a good choice lol.

The "Yellow Hue" I'm not sure which it is. It could accidentaly be from FRLG Gravelen, because I was comparing their colors before. I based the scrath hand off of the FRLG sprite's Top left hand, so I shaded, and compared colors with it after. That could be why.

As for everything else, I kind of noticed them, but was either too tired to fix it, or too inexperienced to know how to fix it lol.

Thanks for the help. I'll be sure to let you know if I have any problems.

@ Headpunch: Thanks for the offer! It's nice to get such a great offer from such a great scratcher. I love my avatar, so hopefully I'll be half as good as you someday!

@XandZero2: Nice! I like that fusion a lot lol. And the name. It totally looks like a killer.

Canti, that Lugia looks positively huggable. I like it.

Finally got some time to do Vaporegon. Flygon is such an awkward sprite to color, though. =/ It also tends to look like it's missing pixels, and if you fix it, it looks like it has too many. Oh, well. Didn't come out terrible.

My first full scratch!

Ok, for this sprite, I took a picture off of Deviant Art and traced it in Paint.Net. I then scaled it down to sprite size, and filled everything in myself, blah blah blah. I dunno if it counts as a true scratch, since I just traced someone else's art and used that as my base, instead of starting from scratch.

What I need though, is super criticism. Go crazy. Tear me apart. The tail needs work, and the (left) eye on the right needs help too. Let me know...
How's my shading? Hows the general shape? Does it adhere to the anatomy of the original sprite? And anything else you can think of. Thanks!!!

This is Phillup. Phillup the Piplup. It's for my girlfriend lol

It's a good a sprite but it's not a scratch because you traced it instead it's called a pixel over. The heads also akwardish (too flat)
