The Counter Game

Okay guys, I believe this is the first but I'm sure it is the last warning because afterwards infractions will be handed out. This thread is pretty much postcount++ as it is, the reason it's open is because there is discussion potential and it requires some thought if you post by the rules. However, a lot of you aren't.

You're supposed to explain why your Pokemon is a counter. Moreover, try reading Jumpan's counter definition again, then this thread's definition. They are similar at some points, different at others, and yet I see people straying from both.

@ gliscor

bronzong @ leftovers
252hp/16atk/200spc atk/40spc def
hp ice
grass knot
gyro ball
hypnosis

switches in on any attack and either uses hypnosis or hidden power ices.

Hypno @ Choice Scarf -- Insomnia
252 HP/200 Def/56 SDef -- Bold
Seismic Toss
Switcheroo
Wish
Reflect

You can't do anything to me, I will Seismic Toss you to death and laugh as you are stuck in Scarf Gyro Ball. Wish for healing, Reflect for support.

Gengar @ Black Sludge
Timid
252 spd, 252 sp.atk
Shadow Ball
T-bolt
Sludge Bomb
HP Ice

ok, first turn does whatever, gets given CS, then Sweeps because Siesmic Toss does nothing to it, and Black Sludge harms all non poisons that hold it every turn, reflect is owned by sp.atks, and wish doesn't help much,just keeps it alive longer

@Derek(PUK)'s Snorlax:
Spiritomb@Leftovers
Bold 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpAtk
~Taunt
~Nasty Plot
~HP Fighting
~Hypnosis
Can switch in on any of Snorlax's attacks, and doesn't take too much from a Cursed Crunch. It proceeds to Taunt any other Curses, puts Snorlax to sleep, Nasty Plots up, and destroys it with HP Fighting.

@Great sage's Spiritomb:

Banette @ Leftovers
Adamant@ 4/252/0/0/0/252
(Insomnia)
Shadow Claw
Embargo
Toxic
Screech

Is immune to HP Fight and Hypnosis. It can Toxic Spiritomb, Embargo to stop its Lefties recovery, Screech to lower its defense, and hit with shadow Claw.

@Dark Android's Banette
Clefable@Leftovers
Adamant
252Atk/252Spd/4HP
(Magic Guard)
Belly Drum
Meteor Mash
Facade
Wish

Immune to Shadow Claw and will take no poison damage from Toxic because of Magic Guard. It can safely Belly Drum and then kill Banette with Meteor Mash.

@shishioh's Metagross
Gyarados@Leftovers
Adamant
212hp/16atk/180def/100spd
(Intimidate)
-Dragon Dance
-Earthquake
-Waterfall
-Taunt

Resists your two STAB attacks, and is immune to Earthquake. Explosion will likely put an unusually large dent in Gyarados - even after Intimidate, but that would be a successful counter in my eyes (countered pokemon == dead pokemon or forced switch). Gyara can then DD and/or Earthquake you to death.

1337 post.
even after Intimidate
Intimidate won't work on Metagross fyi.
Gyarados@Leftovers
Adamant
212hp/16atk/180def/100spd
(Intimidate)
-Dragon Dance
-Earthquake
-Waterfall
-Taunt

Starmie@ Leftovers
Timid Nature
172 Hp, 120 SpA, 218 Spd
- Surf
- Recover
- Rapid Spin
- Thunderbolt

Comes in on any attack and scares it off with Thunderbolt.

@Ace777's Starmie:
Blissey@Leftovers
Bold 148 HP / 252 Def / 104 SpAtk / 4 Spd
~Thunderbolt
~Ice Beam
~Calm Mind
~Softboiled
I think we all know how this works. Calm Minds up while taking minimal damage from Starmie's attacks and Thunderbolts it to death.

Magnezone @Choice Band
-Explosion
-Gyroball
-Thunderbolt
-Return
Brave Nature (+ Atk ; - Speed) ; 6 HP ; 252 EV Atk ; 252 SpAtk

It comes in Ice Beam / Thunderbolt and sweep.

Yeah, this move-set is funny xD

That still only does 32-37% I think.
I'll just do:

Raikou@ Leftovers
Timid Nature
64HP/252Spd/96Sp.Atk/96Sp.Def
-Substitute
-Thunderbolt
-HP Ice
-Calm Mind

Too many blisseys...

Spiritomb@Leftovers
252 HP, 100 ATK, 152 SDEF
Pain Split
Sucker Punch
Will-o-wisp
Pursuit

Immune to SToss, takes little from HP Ghost, and Pain split is essentially a full heal. Whittle down with burn, and pressure-stalls you out of Softboiled PP. Sucker punch and pursuit just for the heck of it.

@Spiritomb

Machamp@Choice Band (Guts)

adamant 252att/252speed/4hp

Close Combat
Stone Edge
Fire Punch
Earthquake

Machamp loves the Guts boost from Will O Wisp. Sucker Punch and Pursuit are crap. Even with a pain split, that sucker punch isn't doing much to Machamp. Brings down Spiritomb with Stone Edge.

@Spiritomb

Machamp@Choice Band (Guts)

adamant 252att/252speed/4hp

Close Combat
Stone Edge
Fire Punch
Earthquake

Machamp loves the Guts boost from Will O Wisp. Sucker Punch and Pursuit are crap. Even with a pain split, that sucker punch isn't doing much to Machamp. Brings down Spiritomb with Stone Edge.

claydol@choice specs
252hp/252def/4spatk
bold-levitate
-psychic
-ice beam
-land power
-shadow ball

Is immune to earthquake, resists stone edge & close combat and takes little damage from fire punch. KOs with psychic

@Claydol

Weavile@Choice Band
adamant 252att/252speed/4hp
Pursuit
Ice Shard
Aerial Ace
Brick Break

with CS your sp. attack reaches maybe 260 at most and a stabbed Earth Power is not going to scare off Weavile's 85 base Sp. Defense. Pursuit is pretty much going to rape Claydol every which way.

this thread would be interesting if.

once a poke was used 5 times.

it cant be used again.

untill there is no counter.

Forretress needs more love.

Forry @ Lefties
252 HP/252 Def/4 Attk -- Relaxed
Gyro Ball
Stealth Rock
Explosion
Light Screen

Takes lol% from your attacks, Gyro Ball kills you dead.

@forrestress

steelix @leftovers

rock polish
fire blast
stone edge
earthquake

resists all damaging attack, taking pretty much no damage from gyro ball
uses two rock polishes then prepares to open up a can of whoop ass
