The Everything NFL Thread - 2009

So fucking stupid... The Steelers and their fans can say whatever they want, but the fact is the Vikings threw that game away. Whether it be ridicluously stupid penalties (only one of which was questionable) or terrible drops/fumbles/interceptions, the Vikings had numerous opportunities to win the game and they pissed them all away. What a fucking awful team. Vikings to finish 9-7 or worse.

The Vikings aren't terrible... they are one of the best teams in the NFL right now regardless of this BS game (fucking ref deserved to get ran over D:)

They should've won that but they didn't. Regardless I think the Vikings will go deep in the playoffs. They impressed me by going into pittsburg and almost beating the super bowl champs. I think we know who the better team was today (vikings).

Some positives though:
1. Even though we played horribly we were in it until that freak INT
2. The pass defense was better than I would have guessed with Winfield out
3. Rice is looking really good

51 Farve passes vs 22 Peterson touches. That amount of passes to runs needs to end, along with the penalties and the horrible zone coverage during the 2 minute drill.

I never did like Shaun Hill. :/ I hope Singletary decides to give Smith more of a chance now. Right now it's looking like the 49ers might really have to fight Arizona for NFC West...

Ugh I hope Mike Smith fusses some sense into the Falcons team during halftime. Looks like the saints are gonna lose and this is the chance the falcons needed to get first in their division D:.

Whoever called the Dolphins winning is either rigging it or knows his football better than everyone else.

Don't look now though the Saints are coming back!

Also @ you people crying about the refs in the Steelers game, why have you conveniently forgotten the first TD by Pittsburgh that was taken away by an equally bullshit holding call? That game could also have been 24-24 and gone into OT, not 24-20 as a previous poster said. Honestly, bad calls happen, and they DO GO BOTH WAYS. I am sick and tired of all this bitching about how the refs give games to the Steelers. The Vikings had better stats in most categories, but not by a ton. The Steelers defense did an excellent job of pressuring Favre and stopping AP from getting too many yards. Also, Steelers O-line played well and protected Big Ben for most of the game. Rather than whine about refs, take a look at the actual football that got played and realize is was a close and exciting game.

yeah that game was extremely good, but bad calls on both sides of the ball didnt make it as good as it could have been.

the fins better not fuck this up.

WHO SAW AP RUN WILLIAM GAY OVER? jesus christttttttt

Awful game played by the falcons. They looked off today. The timing just wasn't there. Hope they can regroup as they have a very tough divisional battle vs the Saints.

Well in other news Jake Delhomme was killed shortly after Carolina's loss. *sigh* Wishful thinking. );

And don't look now but the Saints have just about put this game away. Damn how did the Dolphins manage to score 34 points with Chad Henne playing like shit? Oh wait, Ricky went bat shit insane.

Man, the Phins fucked up that last drive
Henne has got to learn, he was looking pretty good in the beginning of that drive, but the pick....

Henne threw 2 good passes that were both just flat out dropped lol.

I'm not complaining about the pick though - I started New Orleans' defense ^_^

I really hope this post wasn't directed at me, or else I may think you are illiterate. If you actually read my post, you will see that I said there was only one questionable penalty called on the Vikings and the other 10 were pretty much completely justified.

This was a pretty good day of football aside from the Falcons/Cowboys game, which was the only one that made me lose interest midway through lol. My opponent in the fantasy football league I'm in almost caught up to me when the Saints started doing well, but I've got him beat, hahaha.

I won't lie dude, your posts in this thread make me cringe. I've never seen a person so consistently negative about their team EVEN THOUGH THEY KEEP WINNING. "My team is 6-0 but we suck goat balls blah blah..." Dude, be happy you're above .500. You could be a Bills fan like me.

Speaking of which... 2 wins in a row, neither deserved in the least. HERE WE COME PLAYOFFS :avatar2:

The teams that the Vikings have beat have all been pretty shitty, and the Vikings will only get worse from here. They are a pretty terrible team, all in all. I predict they'll get embarassed by Green Bay next week, then lose to Detroit in Week 10. This is because the Vikings always play poorly in games that they should win (also in games against good teams like the Steelers). Then they have a few potentially winnable games against Seattle and Chicago, but they will almost assuredly lose one of their 2 games to Chicago. Arizona and Cincinnati will probably wreck the Vikings considering their awful pass defense, and Carolina and the Giants should beat them as well. That puts the Vikings at 8-8 at best if all the games play out as they most likely will.

Well, after playing terribly for almost the whole first half, New Orleans decided to play for real and the Wildcat could not save the pathetic, collapsing Dolphins.

The Vikings probably outplayed Pittsburgh, but they made some questionable decisions and mistakes that the Steelers capitalized on. Before we write off the Vikings however they lost to a very good home team, are still 6-1, and still have the inside track to winning the NFC North and capturing the number two seed.
