I agree with DM's list..................for the most part. Here is my list:
AFC:
1) Titans - As crazy as this sounds, with Kerry Collins, they are the team to beat in the AFC! They play similar to the style of the Bears early in this decade: Effective 2-RB attack, excellent defense, and a QB that is effecient and doesn't turn the ball over very much. Bears got to the super bowl two years ago like this, and if Collins continues to be low in turnovers, they could do the same!
2) Bills- I have faith in the Bills this year! They have improved their defense greatly, and Trent Edwards, so far, is turning out to be a productive QB by passing the ball around and not trying to get it to Lee Evans all the time. Plus, Marshawn Lynch has begun to awaken as a top RB in the league. They may be 3-0, but they are still sleepers, and you can't take them lightly!
3) Steelers- Tons of talent on this team, but the OL isn't as great as years past. Plus, the health of Big Ben may be in jeporady later in the season. However, as of now, they are still a top team in the AFC.
4) Broncos- They're 3-0, and they have been a scoring machine, but they have given up 84 points in the first 3 games! This trend cannot continue if they want to reach the super bowl. Defense needs to improve, and the running game needs to be more active. They are below the 2-1 Steelers, because they SHOULD have been 2-1 instead of 3-0, thanks to that now infamous blown call.
5) Patriots- They went from one to five with that big loss over the Dolphins, but even with that stunning upset, you cannot rule them out as a top AFC team at 2-1. Let the Matt Cassel Patriots play a few more games before we make the huge decision to declare them an inferior team. There is a ton of talent on that team to just toss them aside as this point of the season.
(Note: If the Jets convincingly win tonight, I will rule them #5 over the Patriots)
NFC:
1) Cowboys- Obviously the best team in the NFC. We don't need to debate that one.
2) Eagles- I hate rating them over my Packers but I think they have just as dominant of an offense as the Cowboys, and their top two WR's are out! Defense is also pretty good.
3) Packers- They also lost to the Cowboys, and put Aaron Rodgers down to earth, but he is still having a great season as a first year QB. Defense is good, but Grant hasn't got it completely going yet. Similar to last year, it could take a few weeks to get the running game situated, and whenever they do, they will be in good shape.
4) Giants- I hate the Giants, because I dunno how in the world they are 3-0! They did struggle against the Bengals yesterday, which hurt a little bit. I will move them up once I see this team becoming consistantly good, because with 6 new starters on defense and another great early start from Eli Manning, they are exceeding all expectations.
5) Redskins: 4 out of 5 top teams from NFC East. That division is tough! Jason Cambell is having an excellent start, and Santana Moss is actually being consistant for once in his career! This last pick was tough, but Redskins just may go 9-7 and be last in their division! They are that good!
