The Everything NHL Thread

Yeah timezones will be shitty, I might have to end up watching hockey at evenings instead of them starting at 1:00 AM (for the early games like Canadiens home) in the night.

I haven't heard anything so far about that league, so curious what they will be, doubt it will have a dutch franchise though, our level of hockey would be just too low for it.

I think a worldwide league would be tough to pull off in terms of timezones and travel. I guess if they set up the schedule to work much like it does now with divisions and conferences it could be feasible. So American teams would play each other more often, ditto for Canada and the European countries involved and then come playoffs time there would be more travel and such. In the more immediate future.. I'd be worried about European teams keeping their homegrown talent which would remove some of the NHL's. Like think if Sweden kept all their players to play in the Euro league. That removes quite a few star NHL players.

Looks like this week is ending 5-5, think the only category that can change atm is shots on goal, and we would need Patrick Sharp outshoot Nathan Horton by alot.

Vokoun saved my week, by actually being my only goalie that played a game. Hope it's less stressy next week.

So the current match up stats are 8-1-1 in favor of me but depending on this final period of the San Jose/Anaheim game I'm in danger of falling to 6-2-2 which still isn't bad but really bothers me since it's all due to Jarome Iginla single handedly. 7 goals, 3 assists and I think a +7. FiveK was essentially playing this week with only 2 bench skaters versus my 6 after rotations and I might end up tying Assists and losing Goals despite leading both categories for a majority of the week. It just makes me worry about facing some of the other rosters that have more than one explosive player like Iginla on them since I'm not sure my team will be able to keep up come playoff time.

My goalies, Turco and Lundqvist, usually earn me 4 points every week (Wins, GAA, SV%, SOs). The last couple of weeks though, they have absolutely blown.

I need to do something to shake my defense up though, they aren't pulling down the numbers that I would like them to.

first 2 goals tonight:

Detroit3:57, Tomas Holmstrom 15 (power play) (Nicklas Lidstrom, Pavel Datsyuk) Washington9:58, Alexander Ovechkin 24 (power play) (Michael Nylander)
And it are all players of either me or Teifu(synre), losing the week here already

1g1a2ppp vs 1g2a3ppp :(

This week and next week are gonna be rough for me, gr33n and Jackal in consecutive weeks isn't gonna be good times. I'm 4-0-1 (30-14-6) in my last five, I suspect the next couple weeks will not be nearly as beneficial.

It's not every day I'll whine about my goalies on a night I got a shutout but man Brodeur had an off night :( I kinda felt bad for him because they were pretty much exclusively bad goals, everyone has nights like that but I would imagine it sucks for him to have that happen against Luongo. The Devils in general looked really flat though - I wonder if it is a product of them being a spoiled Eastern team that isn't used to having to travel three hours out of their time zone eight times a month! Only a .911 S% and 2.50 GAA on a night I got a shutout, not a good showing from the best goalie of all time !!

I am too lazy to change my yahoo comment(i still lu even if you sucked today marty) but yeah gl gr33n. Looks like we have an interesting week going so far with both skaters and goalies although I think jerk Koivu and his 15 PIM probably won that stat for you this week.

EDIT: Also at least everyone except for Avery is uninjured now, but there's some of that lovely insult to injury stuff since after being out for over two weeks he just now was put on IR now that he is potentially back as soon as tomorrow. I will at best get one game out of the fact they decided to put him on IR, thanks a lot !!

im losing 5-1 :(

i dont get why minnesota chooses to consistantly start an inferior goaltender.

also I loled at Carls smack ahaha

With another win last night, Buffalo has pulled into the 7th spot in the Eastern Conference, even with only playing 32 games. Best part is that we were outshot 42-17 or something ludicrous like that. Carl, I hope you started Miller.

hmm three trades and i voted against two of them, I dont care how bad jagrs been hes too good to give up for chump change.

i think that means you voted against one of my trades :(

i always start miller btw.. it's the only reason i complain as much as i do lol

gaborikkk

thats why hes the best talent out there imo. He's not consistent, but crosby cant do that.

i hear point a game players are chump change

believe me I know how good Morrow has been thus far, I have him in my other league. The problem is he is exceeding his projected numbers while the two players you are getting are pretty much underpreforming. Prospal and Morrow are about the same at this point for projected value over the remainder of the season, and thats a compliment to Morrow at this point. With those two being equal, then Langenbrunner (sp?) for Jagr is just lol. You're pretty much idealising the buy low, sell high method here

great move for you lol if it goes through, im only one of the 4-5 votes needed to cancel it.

And Carl Perry has been a top 20 player all year and Straka is just coming off an injury. Strakas best case scenario wont be as good as Perry has been.

The fact that you people let the Naslund/Lidstrom trade go through and then veto these just boggles my mind but ok.

edit: This puts me in a tough position since I'm not sure I want my other trade to go through now. I have three capable left wings since I'm not giving one up.. I don't really need a 4th. And I'd rather keep Hudler and dump Sykora at this point. Either way I was going to drop a rw at the end of the week to add another guy on defense.

also lol, bullet getting mcdonald is pretty awesome since I'd have done that yesterday if I wasn't going to not have room for him due to get a couple new centers in trades

that's pretty sweet

lol sorry for being such a killjoy for you guys i just dont need my competition getting better. I honestly didnt think that enough people would vote against them, since you need 5 iirc

Actually I went and voted against the Jagr trade the second time around, since I realized I was giving much more away than I was receiving. Still kind of foggy about why the other trade was rejected, though. We're swapping players of equal skill from what I can tell.

Also, whoo Isles! Now if only they did that all the time, and Comrie didn't suck.

Hey guys,

I accidently dropped Derek Roy last night, so i would appreciate it if you would leave him in FA so i can pick him up once he clears waivers

resisting urge to pick up Roy and offer to trade him for McDonald

edit: didnt matter since zerowing waivered him, lol

so WER did you want me to veto it again? I could tell from your post if you meant you were one of the votes last time or you dont want to do it anymore.
