The Everything NHL Thread

O.D. on C.D. for Leaky Louis... that ought to bug the Canucks for nights.

Tampa Bay is killing me, i know they are inexperienced, but good grief....

SHUT EVERYTHING DOWN. THE CANUCKS LOST A GAME. HOLY TITS IT'S FUCKING CHERNOBYL.

Obviously a hyperbole, but that's what I've been hearing from both sides.

Nothing 'gainst the 'Nucks. we just like a change of scenery that's all. The way the Hawks crushed Luongo, it gives us a warm fuzzy feeling in our stomachs and what not.

Well Coyotes out thanks to the icky Red Wings again (whom I now have a stronger inexplicable hatred towards than even the Sharks)...now to face yet another uncertain offseason since the NHL/City/Team/Buyers can't get their shit together :(

Miller steals yet another game. Guaranteed game 6 in Buffalo Easter Sunday.

And one last time to rub it in: who the FUCK picks Phoenix over Detroit? I'm already 1 for 1 in my picks.

to be fair, detroit looked awful nearing the end of the season and were something like 3-15 against playoff teams in the later part of the season.

Yeah I wouldn't worry too much about an uncertain offseason, they'll be in Winnipeg before June.

Also Detroits last 20 regular season games against playoff opponents: 8-8-4, a jump from 3-15 there (especially with the oddity that is shootout losses...).

Main reason I'm posting though: what the fuck, Barry Trotz. Every year we're like man! How the fuck is this team in the playoffs? Give that man a trophy and maybe a yacht! It pains me now to turn this around and say that I think the Preds would have this series in the bag if he was managing games a little better. The Predators pretty much define offensively inept clubs; they haven't had a 53 point scorer in two years and they finished 21st in goals/game this year, which only beats Montreal and Los Angeles for playoff teams. So why, oh why, are they playing every game like they're the 2008 Washington Capitals rushing up and down the ice? The four games in this series have had 5, 8, 7, and 9 goals in the respectively, which is in an interesting stat considering how much that obviously favors an Anaheim club that actually has the personnel to play that game(11th in goals per game, though they've turned it up down the stretch). I'm deeply, deeply confused as to why the Preds aren't trying harder to lock it down more like Buffalo did. Both series are 2-2, but Buffalo has a much bigger skater disadvantage and they're still making it work. Part of the ANA/NSH series getting blown open is probably the fact that Anaheim keeps managing to score early, but some of that is on the coach getting players ready and starting with the right matchups, too... not gonna win many playoff series as a defensive team allowing 9 games over two home games. Especially when you have the advantage of playing against a platoon of back-up goalies.

Bonus fun stat: looking awful likely 3 of the 4 teams in the Western Conference 2nd Round will be the same teams as last year, with Chicago being an obvious omission because it had to play fellow playoff returnee Vancouver round 1. Of those three teams, the Canucks and Sharks will be there for the fourth time in the last five years, the Wings their fifth in five(with a shot at their fourth conference final in five), and if the Ducks win their series it'll be their third appearance in round 2 in five years. How about that salary cap era parity, guys? We'd end up with 16 of 25 Western semi-final births being occupied by those four teams over the past five years. Ducks, Wings, and Canucks all kept the same coach throughout those five years(Sharks switched Wilson for ex-Wings assistant McLellan) and Wings and Sharks all kept their GMs over those 5 years(Ducks said good-bye to Burke, Canucks switched GMs though the incumbent has 3/4 appearances). Amazing what some stability will do...

thank jesus that they can finally go back to winnipeg

TSN reported that if 6 thousand + season tickets can be sold in winnipeg, which apparently has started already, the jets will return NEXT SEASON. This IS bettman though, so brace for Toronto crying about a team moving closer and see what happens. Okay I know they aren't even close, but I just can't resist the chance to take a dig at toronto.

I honestly thought the 'yotes depth would get to the wings. They have no 30 goal scorers, iirc, and have the most number of 20 goal scorers in the league.

I am so excited for tonights vancouver game, I hope the blackhawks troll them some more.

Not sure if serious. Do you even know who's on the roster for the Red Wings?

Hawks will come out strong, but I predict Vancouver will overcome "adversity," "momentum" and "intangibles" (or whatever the hell people are talking about) and take game 5.

To all Coyotes haters:

I hope all of your teams pack up and leave to canuck-land. Fuck off >.>

Seriously, I like my home team right where it is, I've been a fan of them ever since they moved down here; obviously they weren't so great in fucking Winnipegg if they moved. Just because your teams are fat and content where they are doesn't mean that others aren't struggling. They've finally righted ship with a great coach, all they need is a few years relieved of the asshole that did own them and the bastard coach they did have and they'll be perfectly successful, much as they were during the first few years they were down here and competing.

Calm your shit. I don't see anyone saying they're happy that they're moving. Fact is, Goldwater Institute is fucking up rather drastically and the handling of the Phoenix Coyotes franchise has been a disgrace and a disaster. There seems to be no future for them here, unless Hulsizer (sp?) is willing to put up with this bullshit.

Although a glimmer a hope is that Biznasty tweeted that the team will be back. Then again, it's Biznasty.

Hats off to the Coyotes fans for putting up with this bullshit for this long.

The Canadiens gave that game to the Bruins, and I'm 99% certain they'll pay for it. So pissed right now, we should have at least gone to Boston up 3-1 and instead we've let them make it a best of 3. To be fair, Boston did themselves no favours on defence, but they didn't need to with the way Montreal played in the second half. If we can get the first half from this game and add it to the second half from game 3, we may have a chance, otherwise Bruins move on.

obviously they weren't so great in fucking Winnipegg if they moved.

They didn't leave for lack of support by the Winnipeg fans however. Much of the conjoncture that led to their departure (such as the Canadian Dollar at 0,60 US) isn't reality today.
