The Everything NHL Thread

Campbell gets a point in his first game as a Shark. After 8 years, it was sad to see him in a different uniform. But Bernier! Damn man, he kicked ass. 2G, 1A, some monster hits... I like him already. After Scotty Nichol (fucking raging cocksucker) took a cheap shot at Derek Roy, Bernier was the first one to them... and he FLATTENED Nichol. Awesome.

I think the habs are a lot better of not doing that deal as well, I still think the Penguins gave up way too much for someone they won't be able to resign - the sacrificed some team chemistry and two first rounders for a guy they almost certainly can't keep. If they win the cup I'm sure it'll be worth it. but at best they'll probably have to play two of New Jersey/Ottawa/Montreal so it's not like they're going to have smooth sailing before the finals, those three teams definitely have every chance of winning the conference and none of them sacrificed their futures on a rental.

I feel like Pittsburgh is probably thinking 'well, we have crosby and malkin, we don't need young talent' which is a mistake for sure.

Well, I feel good for Huet after last night. Recording a shutout on your first start with a new, arguably not as solid, team after a surprise trade is the ultimate middle finger to your old team. That first performance probably locked him in for a good chunk of the starts for the remainder of the season. Poor Kolzig though lol.

Also..

Setoguchi’s (2G, +2, 3 SOG, 1:59 PP) second goal came on a play that should have been whistled dead since the puck hit the mesh above the glass behind Hasek’s net, but the officiating crew missed it and it’s apparently not reviewable.

As if the Wings didn't have enough issues as it was. I didn't see the game but I did see that highlight which was extremely gay.

One week left to go in the regular Fantasy season, and the race for regular season champ lies completely open. I have to rely on Luongo and Brodeur fucking up though, seeing we're completely tied in points.

Although the position wont matter much, seeing both 1 and 2 will receive a bye into the 2nd playoff round, but I would like to pull a stunt on my 'rookie' season :)

Gl Synre, been a fun season either way ;)

Well, the Sabres have decided to completely implode. They're way better than the Rangers of Flyers, they're just too fucking streaky to be successful.

I actually read this post before I saw the standings and I was deeply confused how we even managed to get tied, lol. The weekend before last I'd pretty much decided that instead of trying to win the #1 seed I was mostly going to try and worry about getting my roster where I wanted it for the playoffs(which is part of why my skater stats in particular have been declining) so I am kinda surprised we ended up tied, lol.

Of course I probably should have made a bigger push for #1 since the plan I went with didn't work that well since Havlat and Smyth are both probably hurt and a couple other players(or their potential linemates) that are on my team, or were going to be on my team aren't looking so good right now either. Whatever. Honestly I'm really just hoping I pick up at least 4 points since it's always entirely possible Carl will 10-0 Bullet =/ Although I guess I probably have the tiebreaker there so I only "need" 3 points to keep 2nd for sure.

In other fantasy news no one cares about I am officially in the playoffs in my other two head to head leagues now too, one of them I am in first by 8 points so I am hoping to get the #1 seed in at least one league, and in the other I am the lowest rank team that has a spot clinched at 3rd. I'm 24 points out of 1st so that is impossible obviously but I am only 4 out of second so I am hoping for three first round byes. I'm also only 3 points out of fourth which I am desperately afraid of getting since I'm pretty sure I can't beat the #1 seed in that league and I'd like to delay it as long as possible.

Well, the Sabres have decided to completely implode. They're way better than the Rangers of Flyers, they're just too fucking streaky to be successful.

I wouldn't count them out just yet since both of those teams are awful, but the games at the end of the year(with those teams against NJ and Pitt and Buffalo against Ottawa and Montreal) are going to be interesting since anyone beating up on their divisions rivals in that 7-10ish group will get in.

Still hoping for Washington and Buffalo to sneak in... at least Detroit(well at this rate maybe not...) and New Jersey are safe.

I am most likely not going to make the playoffs in our league which is deeply disappointing because my team is not at all bad. I mean, I cant even figure it out, probably Ottawas awful stint isn't helping and as far as the rest of it goes I have 4 players benched for today so thats a total waste and it wouldn't surprise me if i lose or every stat by 1 or tie them all so that my Monday 4 players would have made the difference.

There were some nice highlight goals from last night's Sharks/Canadiens game. Carey Price got lit up but both Campbell and Cheechoo had sweet goals so go check those out. Actually, the whole highlight reel on NHL.com for this game is good... looks like it would have been an extremely exciting game to watch.

Let the games begin, hope Thomas gets a few games and gets his confidence up for the (semi) finals, him and Vokoun both had horrible and fantastic weeks for me, so I hope they will be on the good site after this week.

Goodluck guys, and see you in the semi's ;)

What happens if it ends 5-5 at the end of the week in the play-offs?

Also, if there was one good week for Lecavalier to recover from his slide, its this week.

Hat trick last night :D

In the event that a playoff game ends in a tie, the deadlock is broken using the following system:

Note: Only those stats accumulated during the head-to-head matchup are used to settle ties. Season stats are not factored in.

1. Most team goals.
2. Most team assists.
3. Lowest team GAA.
4. Highest team SV%.
5. Most team wins.
6. Most team shutouts.
7. Most team powerplay points.
8. Most team game-winning goals.
9. Most team penalty minutes.
10. Most team plus/minus.
11. Random "coin flip."

If a team does not meet the minimum games played requirement for goalies during the playoff matchup, they lose any tiebreakers involving goalie statistics.

So yeah they base it on your stats for that week and if Goals isn't tied then the person who won that stat wins the week etc and it goes down that line until a winner is found.

Normally, you and I don't want a tie Vin but I think you're rocking in goals this week so you might be okay if that happened. I'm sure hoping I don't tie, though, since my team never scores.

now that Gerber got that SO, I am pretty much doomed to win all skater stats this week.

Thank god my skaters are rolling.

nooooooooooooooooo fuck yahoos rules thats bogus.

arghhhhhhhh im so sad right now :(

Better luck next season Jackal, thanks for setting the league up though ;)

I will try to avenge you versus that Quebecian!

For the fuck of it (now that my year is over) heres who I used during the season and the number of games I played them.

Notice the LW and D weakness especially, I still had fun using that theme. I was probably the only person in all of yahoo sports that at some point had a couple of those players in his team.

vin great season man, im impressed. Lets do it again next year.

Looks like I wrapped up 5th, although if I played vineon this week instead of last I would have won 7-1. Oh well ;(

Heard in a chat last night that koivu is probably out for 3-4 weeks.

While discussing the roster lockout we said something about being honorly about stuff, but if a player wont play a full week, would it be okay to get a backup in?

Yeah, that was the whole reason I didn't want Jackal to actually lock our rosters so if something like that happened we still had the freedom to work around it like any real NHL team would. Go ahead and drop him if he's going to be out.

I hope Fleury does alright against the Rangers today. I didn't really want to play him in that game considering his current stats, how dangerous the Rangers can be, and how close our goalie battle is but I kind of forgot the game was early today and didn't do anything about it yesterday.
