Fleury did good enough, hope Thomas will shutout the Sabres tonight then. Guess I have to take risks if I want to be able to win still.

Thanks for understanding at the injury TSN reports Koivu is probably out for 4 weeks. So going to pull out the Modano card. Overall nice stats, hope he helps a bit.

this is an awesome save lol

lol nabakov

Anyway interrupting #fantasyhockey for a moment, just snagged some Game 2 tickets. Haven't been down to see the Red Wings in a few years at all and have never been to a playoff game so I am pretty pumped! If the Wings manage to make the finals I'll probably try and go again but otherwise this'll be my one game this year. I've seen every game all year thus far(and all but two lives) so I am excited to actually get to see one in person.

I am less excited about the East right now - my Caps and Devils are both floundering :( Caps are in serious shit right now, they are 2 back of Carolina and 3 back of Philadelphia and Boston. Washington gets to play Carolina so that is their best chance, although they have fewer wins so even if they get that game they need Carolina to pick up one fewer point than they do between each team's other two games. The Devils were #1 in the conference a couple weeks ago and have dropped to fucking fourth now, with the Rangers having equal points and a game against them left(!) and Ottawa being just a point behind. New Jersey has a game in hand on both of them at least.

Fuck you dude, the Caps are two points ahead of my Sabres. Instead of the Caps taking out the Bruins or Philly, I'd rather see them take the Southeast so that we can sneak in 8th or something.

Your poor Sabres :( They are pretty much fucked at this point I think, one of the Southeast teams, Philly, and Boston would all need to lose out while Buffalo wins every game :(

I was bored and had nothing to do so I was reading hockey articles on theonion, and while they all do a good job of making fun of the fact it's possible the 10 of us are actually the only people who watch hockey i found this one from right after the lockout to be pretty hilarious since most of the jokes would only be funny if you followed hockey on some level anyway. Maybe it'll make you feel better :D

edit: also this one is pretty much as good of an analysis as you can do about blues/blackhawks http://www.theonion.com/content/infograph/blues_at_blackhawks

It looks settled, I would like to congratulate Carl on winning this season, his skaters stats are way too big of a difference to still be able to make a comeback.

Same with goalie wins, and the chance either Thomas, Vokoun or Smith gets another shootout is near impossible.

Thanks all for the awesome (first) fantasy season, really enjoyed it and I would like to join again next year. 2nd place isn't that bad as it looks, never expected this to happen when I signed up for it, just thought it was a nice way to be able to talk about hockey more.

Let's see what happens the next few days, but I think it's settled, just wanted to be the first to congratulate Carl, sportsmanship ey ;)

its far from settled.

get 3 more PPP (or less realisticly 6 more goals) than Carl in the next few days combined with a goalie shutout and the season is yours.

3 goalies playing for only one shutout doesn't seem next to impossible to me.

also what the fuck, Joe Thornton 7g, 2a, he got his stats in reverse

Thing is, my goalies have awesome s% and gaa atm, and they are almost guaranteed to fuck it up. Because say for yourself, Boston, Florida and Tampa Bay arent exactly the defense strongholds ;)

yet not playing them to save those statistics would be a mistake considering SO is one of the few attainable stats you can get

Got what you meant, too bad Smith got slaughtered now. But like you said, had to take the gamble. Can i congratulate Carl now then? :p

on a sidenote:

I ordered the Lecavalier jersey a few weeks back in XL, the south korean guy sended me an L, mailed a complaint about it, and now he's sending me the XL one aswell, without having to return the L jersey.

Pretty awesome if you ask me :) Love to see how much negative Ebay feedback would matter to them.

Haha, that is awesome green :) Other than the fact it's Lecavalier of course...

In other awesome news(at least for green, aldaron, and I), I discovered a moment ago that in spite of how it looks Washington actually DOES control it's own destiny. They are in if they win twice and Carolina, Boston, Ottawa, or Philidelphia lose once, and lo and behold, Boston plays Ottawa tomorrow. Washington has the tiebreaker on all of them but Carolina, as it has more wins than everyone else but Ottawa who they swept the season series with, so they look pretty good right now assuming they can beat Tampa and Florida.

I'm kinda curious what happens with Boston, Ottawa, and Philly either way - they have pretty tough games this week. In addition to Bos vs. Ott, Boston has Buffalo, Ottawa has Toronto but they cant beat anyone lately, and Philly has Pitt and NJ so they all have tough schedules to end the year.

I'm only leading goals by 3, assists by 6, +/- by 3, ppp by 1 and gaa and sv% are both extremely close.

Need I remind you that you have the league's leading scorer on your team?

This is far from over. One good night tonight from your skaters and one bad one from mine and you could easily take any or all of those stats.

Teifu, I've studied the standings and thought it over a ton, and here's what has to happen...

Ottawa has 92 points. They lose out and complete the collapse and miss the playoffs, Boston beats them and clinches a spot but loses to Buffalo, who wins out and knocks Philly out of the playoffs. Washington wins the Southeast, but Carolina sneaks in in the 7th spot (Buffalo would take 8th, we need to be the underdog).

So the East should look like this:
1. Montreal (YEAH VIN)
2. Pittsburgh
3. Washington
4. New Jersey
5. NY Rangers
6. Boston
7. Carolina
8. Buffalo
______________________________
9. Ottawa (suck a dick)
10. Philly (share the dick)

Also, you know what REALLLLLLY pisses me off? In SI.com's Power Rankings, the Sabres are somehow below the Blackhawks, Oilers, Panthers, Coyotes and Maple Leafs. All of those teams have less points than us, the Coyotes even 8 behind! That's some fucking bullshit.

Your goal stats are really solid though due to lots of games played, maybe double of my goalies, i think it's over but we'll see :)

I don't think that Ottawa will fall out of the playoffs because their last two games of the season are against Toronto and Boston, which I feel is pretty self-explanatory.

Well I still think that's a testament to how bad the Leafs are but yeah they're probably in the playoffs now with that win.

Yeah, for them to not make it, they need a regulation loss tonight coupled with Philly beating the Pens and Devils.

Canadiens end up first in the East, hahaha pinch me.

Congrats Carl for winning the season :)

First to post play-off predictions:

EAST

BOS VS MTL
Canadiens have won their 8 games against the Bruins this year, pushing it to 11 wins in a row. Such a tendency is not about to reverse to lose 4 in 7 matches. Canadiens win in 5.

OTT vs PIT
The Senators had a great first half of the season and a very bad second half. The opposite is true to the Penguins. Furthermore, Alfredson just got hurt. Penguins in 6.

PHI vs WAS
Caps got in with their last game and are 9-1 in their last 10, showing they want to be in the play-offs. I don't know what to think of the Flyers who seem to be good at times and extremely bad later. Ovechkin will be thrilled to finally make it and thrive, Capitals in 5.

NYR vs NJ
I don't like either teams, none of them impressed me at any point during the season either. Devils just beat the Rangers today, following that statement I will pick them to win in 6.

WEST

NAS vs DET
Detroit in 4. Because 26 points is quite a big gap and fuck Nashville having a hockey team.

CGY vs SJ
It isn't that I needed an upset somewhere but I feel the Flames can pull through Nabokov. I suppose a lot of my picks are based on who I like and dislike... and I really hate Joe Thornton. Kipper and Iginla will raise it a notch. Flames in 7.

COL vs MIN
I know for having Theodore in my fantasy team that he's been playing great recently. He also has a new contract to renegociate after this year. Assuming my Flames prediction is wrong, the Avalanche winning would take on the Red Wings next and I sort of want to see DET vs COL in the play-offs again. Avalanche, in 6.

DAL vs ANH
Predicting a blow-out here. Ducks are back with their Stanley Cup winning line-up against Stars on a losing streak. Modano is old and Richards is over-rated. Ducks in 5.

From there on I have the results as follow :

NJ vs MTL
WAS vs PIT
CGY vs DET
COL vs ANH

PIT vs MTL
ANH vs DET

ANH vs PIT

2 in a row.

Friggin Penguins...

Well, if they want to blow the conference for the "opportunity" to get Ottawa first round, that's their option, I guess. Hopefully the Sens can go against the odds and send a message to the other teams never to throw games!

Oh, and if Pittsburgh beats Ottawa, I really the Habs beat them in the conference finals thanks to a game 7 at home.
