The Everything NHL Thread

Ya, like the Islanders have enough money to pay for scouts. But seriously, the Red Wings are really bad on the road (probably given up more goals than Steve Mason has all year).

Of all the teams that had to discover the secret formula for beating us.... WHY THE HECK DID IT HAVE TO BE THE FREAKING ISLANDERS?! 1-4-1 since lockout baby... Someone needs to find the little islander mole in the locker room, cause this is ridiculous. No team of that suckitude ought to have THAT much luck against us.

off the hook for what? That just makes him look worse. He would have been killed by anyone on that Bruins roster, especially Thornton who Weiss decided to jump earlier in the game with a gang of his teammates. I also read another good article on the issue: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-p...-vancouver-columnist-boston-tv-141833914.html

More interesting than Thornton schooling Gallagher on the nuances of fight making were Gallagher's comments when asked why everyone hates the Canucks.

"Here's what I don't understand. I don't understand how a team can be so hated … I understand they have a couple of vexing guys like Burrows and Lapierre. They're agitators, just about every team has a couple of them. But they have no toughness. Normally, teams that are hated have a horde of tough guys that just maraud and punch other teams into oblivion. How can you be hated when you have no toughness?"

This is, perhaps, the greatest window into the soul of the Vancouver Canucks we've seen in quite some time.

Yes, the Broad Street Bullies were hated — in the 1970s. Today, as Brian Burke famously put it, the rats are running the League. So when someone steps up to exterminate the rats, they're the heroes. Hence, the Boston Bruins were celebrated for manhandling the Canucks last June.

But what Gallagher's really saying here: The Canucks aren't tough. They're weak. Hence, they're not the villains, they're the victims, in his eyes. And now we get right to the core of it.

I've already made my opinion on that game clear. I'm not salty about anything, the Bruins and Canucks proved all I need to know about themselves in that game and the final score doesn't really matter in the end. In May, nobody is going to look back and say "that game mattered". I said they would fuck the Canucks and that is exactly what they did. Then they rebounded against a well-matched Jets team that's going to pose all sorts of problems for Eastern teams if they make the playoffs. No salt involved.

NHL All Star roster was announced today. Injuries or not, no Jordan Eberle is b.s. /insert homer rant. But seriously, what has someone like Ovechkin done to earn himself a spot?

They need at least one player from each team, and he got the nod for the Caps. Backstrom should have gotten it, but he's hurt (which leads me to assume that's why someone like Eberle wasn't named either).

Vanek should be in there too, I was disappointed. Kane doesn't deserve the spot over Vanek.

Except the Oilers were told that Eberle would be in the All Star Game if he weren't injured...

And as for the upcoming J-man rant "WHY ISNT LIDSTROM IN THE GAME RAH RAH RAH" he too asked for time off since he's (gasp) only human.

And finally, the All Star Game isn't a game of merit; it's a game purely made for marketing the NHL to a broader audience. Why WOULDN'T you put Ovechkin in it. Anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves.

Nope

Funny thing, Dennis Wideman is actually in the All Star game, so that argument doesn't hold. While the marketing campaign thing is a viable, I don't see why a player who has played better in every aspect so far this year should be snubbed. RNH is injured as well, and got the all star rookie team nod. Eberle should've at least been put onto the initial roster and gotten subbed out for Ovechkin. Ovechkin is more deserving than Alfredsson I guess...

Dude. I just said he was already picked to go. He was on the roster 2 weeks prior to announcement. Read between the lines.

And let's stop using the word "deserving" too. There is no merit in the ASG as I mentioned previously.

Lidstrom hasn't been Lidstrom this year. I fully accept he isn't in the all star game. Heck, I wish every Red Wing to not make the all star game. It sucks. Save your pathetic attempt at painting me as a whiner. It's not gonna work.

Cammalleri got traded from the Canadiens in the middle of the game vs the Bruins, lol. He got sent to the hotel after the 2nd period. Glad to see they'll trade one of their better players over an issue of pride, see you guys in the basement! The sad part is that the Canadiens ownership just proved him right by doing this.

Also, PK Subban will probably get a call from Shanahan after elbowing Krejci in the head in the 3rd period (and of course he dove to the ground like a rat immediately when Ference came over to remind him of the rules).

Cammalleri is not one of the Canadiens best players. He provides nothing but a shot. He doesn't play defense. He doesn't forecheck. He is a tiny midget that cannot create offense for himself. If you think he was traded over pride, you're crazy. He is not performing nearly well enough for the contract he has. This trade was made because he is not a team player. Why keep a guy around that is going to talk shit about his teammates and not produce anything useful? Everything you post is fucking retarded. You are a flat out moron.

He's 5th on the team in points, but ok, I'll give you that.

You mean like that whole team?

It just happened to come days after he said the team practices like a bunch of losers, a statement that is proven true every time they take the ice this season.
Everything you post is fucking retarded. You are a flat out moron.
:justin2::justin::justin2:

Cammalleri has the biggest salary on the team outside of Gomez. He plays on the 1st line every night. 5th on the team in points is a complete joke.

My honest analysis on the trade is that he will probably perform a lot better on Calgary playing with Iginla.

Pretty sure Jr^8 has no idea how Cammalleri even plays. Plekanec and Gionta bring much more heart in terms of forechecking, and backchecking and play a well-rounded style of hockey. Cammalleri is a sniper and nothing else, and with his scoring slump, he's useless to Montreal. Cammalleri got his scoring boost from playing with Iginla; the Flames are hoping he'll do it again.

Wait shit I think I just paraphrased Justin.

He deserved to be traded but he is one of their best players lol. He's led them in playoff scoring the last 2 years.

I just don't know why this trade was made other than it's a do-or-die trade for the Flames (the Habs are already dead)... Honestly, I think it was quite stupid. Even if Calgary gets into the playoffs, It'll be because they squeaked in. Cammi is their life support now (Of course, there's Iginla, but i'm speaking in terms of the trade), and if Calgary dies they have a mess on their hands to deal with.

The Islanders are unfortunately married to that DiPietro contract. I wonder if and when they will buy him out.

Going to the Oilers game tonight, cya folks :D
