I hope everyone else is enjoying xX~_-FiShErWoOd-_~Xx together in Nashville as much as I am because I think this is probably the most amusing trade destination of all time.
I agreed with Morm until I read more closely but the conditional pick makes sense - it's a 2011 1st no matter what + a 2012 3rd only if Nashville makes it to round 2(which they've never done I believe) or a 2012 2nd if they make it to at least round 3(which I know they've never done). Most likely just paying a 1st and if Nashville gets into the second round the trade is more than worth it for them, anyway. The Predators have a pretty good system - talentwise this is good for them, it's Ottawa I'm not sure got enough value back if the Preds don't end up coughing a conditional pick.
The confusing part for me is that while the cost of acquiring him was reasonable, Fisher isn't exactly cheap - 4.2m is quite a bit for a guy who should probably be a second line center(hint: he won't be in Nashville). Considering that they have a hard time spending to the cap to begin with I'm not sure much sense this is going to make for the Preds economically...
This is good for Nashville short term, though. Good 2-way center on an underrated defensive team. If they're gonna try to turtle and choke their way through the playoffs again Fisher will help. Don't underestimate the Preds - they were closer to beating Chicago than anyone else last year and would have had a damn good shot at if they hadn't choked and allowed a shorty with a 1 goal lead on a PP for a major late in game... 5? i think it was. Don't expect that sort of meltdown from a Trotz team again.
The top 6 is still ugly though... erat fisher sullivan dumont honrqvist lombardi with potentially svatos or sk thrown in isnt exactly intimidating...
