Hello, people have you forgotten about UU and Uber comboes?

For Uber's, my favorite combination is specially defensive Bulk up Dialga and Lugia.

They resist every type the other one is weak to and and wall the entire Uber metagame(correct me if I'm wrong) and they really are potent.

As for UU:

Steelix and Grumpig!

They resist each other's attacks while Grumpig takes special attacks while Steelix walls physical. It is really hard to break through these two and I use them on all of my teams.

Neither Steelix nor Grumpig can take a physical water attack, despite Steelix's amazing defenses. Something like a Kabutops would destroy this.

My favourite UU defensive combo is Weezable.

Clefable's only weakness is fighting, and Weezing is one of the best fighting counters in the game and on top of that is a pretty solid physical buffer against threats trying to ruin Clefable's fun, with the added trick of burning foes that may cause trouble for Clefable later on. On the other hand, Clefable is a pretty good special wall and has little to no trouble dealing with Psychic moves (Weezing, too, has only one weakness) that cause Weezing problems. The lack of useful resistances is its only real downside; it runs into problems with just about any mixed sweeper. However, due to the lack of Physical Psychic sweepers (Absol being the only noteworthy Psycho Cut user) and Special Fighting sweepers in UU, this can wall a fair number of significant threats.

I thought Shedinja got U-turn in Platinum?

Anyways Shedinja with Empoleon works great!

Shedinja isn't exactly defensive... It's OHKOed even by Shuckle, which has a measly 10 base Attack.

But seriously, you'd be screwed by anything which carries any move SE on Sheddy which can handle Empoleon (Ttar, Zapdos?). And Shedinja never got U-turn...

EDIT: What's Shedinja going to do, anyway? It can't set up without being destroyed the next turn, and even though it does sometimes force switches, most Pokémon carry an SE attack on it.

Sadly stealth rocks, spikes, toxic spikes, sand storm and hail all ruin shedninja, and 2 of those 5 are extremley common in todays over used environment...Not only that, but pokemons such as tyranitar, salamence etc. all use supper effective moves on their usual sets, meaning shedninja will hav an even harder time with platinium tutors and stuff...

When playing UU i like to use Rotom plus clefable since they cover threats quite well.

Anyways, I have always found Camerupt and Gyarados to be effective. Camerupt walls Zapdos entirely, while helping with Heatran. Gyarados deals with pretty much everything else. However, I believe a rock resistance is necessary in these wall duos because Stone Edge is in the top 4 most used moves in OU.

Gyarados + Celebi + Camerupt

I will begin by explaining this combo to you lovely smogon people. First off, Gyarados tends to attract Pokemon such as Zapdos, Celebi, Vaporeon, Slowbro, and Rotom. This is where Camerupt and Celebi step into help Gyarados out. Celebi takes care of the bulky waters such as Vaporeon who tend to switch into Gyarados. Camerupt takes care of Pokemon such as Zapdos who can harm Celebi and Gyarados. Camerupt is immune to Thunderbolt and resists Heat Wave making him a great counter. Camerupt also takes care of celebi, another counter to Gyarados since Camerupt is immune to Thunder Wave and resists Grass Knot. Next, Celebi tends to attract Pokemon such as Infernape, Heatran, Heracross, and Scizor. This is where Gyarados steps in to help celebi. Gyarados makes a great counter to Heracross, Scizor, Heatran, Lucario and various other physical threats that can potentially harm Celebi. Now Camerupt mainly attracts bulky waters such as Vaporeon, Swampert and Milotic. Celebi takes care of bulky waters that harm Camerupt.

Now if you guys are interested in this combo and what to try it out, the following sets are suggested:

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Nature: Impish
Ability: Intimidate
Ev's: 252 HP, 224 Def, 32 Spe
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

This Gyarados takes care of Pokemon such as Heatran, Scizor, Lucario, and infernape thanks to Gyarados possesing great HP and Defenses. The speed EVs put Gyarados' speed at 206, letting it hit 309 after one Dragon Dance, making Gyarados a great sweeper while providing great tanking abilities at the same time. This also makes a great status absorber for your team and basically takes care of all the pokemon that can potentially harm Celebi.

Celebi@ Leftovers
Ability: Natural cure
Ev's: 252 HP / 220 Def / 36 Spe
Nature: Bold
-Grass Knot
-Leech Seed
-Recover
-Thunder Wave

Now, Celebi is what really holds this defensive core together. Celebi kills bulky waters such as Vaporeon, Swampert, and Milotic all of which pose a threat to Gyarados and Camerupt. Thunder Wave can be used to disable an opposing sweeper allowing Gyarados and Camerupt to set up more effeciently.

Camerupt@ Life Orb
Ability: Solid Rock
Ev's: 252 SpA/ 252 Spe/ 6 Atk
Nature: Mild
-Rock Polish
-Fire Blast
-Earth power
-Explosion

Camerupt takes care of Pokemon such as Zapdos who harm Gyarados and Celebi. Camerupt resists heat Wave and is immune to any electric attack Zapdos carries making Camerupt an excellent counter to Zapdos. With Rock Polish, camerupt can boost that mediocre speed allowing him to sweep more effeciently. Life Orb boosts Camerupt's attack and gives him more offensive power in general.

Now, some of the things that counter this combo are Suicune, Electivire, and Tyranitar. It is higly suggested that you carry a Pokemon that has a resistance to rock such as Swampert. Swampert works greatly with this combo and makes a great counter to Tyranitar and Electivire and can also phaze away Suicune.

Enjoy :toast:

I Remember trying out Machamp, Bliss Rotom-W it worked out pretty well

i like some of the combos mentioned here especially the Empoleon-Gliscor one

TENTAZONE or MAGNACOOL!!!!!!! Magnezone and tentacruel are the only two pokemon (that i know of) that resist EVERY SINGLE TYPE. except ground. which could be fixed by magnet rise from magnezone. plus magnezone can be a physical wall and Tentacruel can be a special wall. and if you want you can make tentacruel physical (70 base Atk and 80 base SpAtk) you can have magnezone as a special attacker and Tentacruel as a physical attacker

Wait, did Dugtrio just rape you? Seriously, they shouldn't share a weakness. The one being 4x is even worse.

There are many more 2 pokemon combos that resist every type in the game between them. Magnezone/Tentacruel isn't one of them. Try Salamence/Magnezone or Gyarados/Steelix.

Fatality is right in saying that Dugtrio would have a field day with this so called defensive combo. It also gets raped by, let me see, Mamowsine, Tyranitar, Salamence, Flygon... basically anything relatively fast that can run Earthquake. Not the best defensive combo, sorry.

LR.

Ice and grass >.< unless you mean for atleast neutral.

I know everybody claims that Skarmory/Blissey/Cresselia is overrated, but in reality it is actually very effective. On the surface, it may not look like it is particually scary offensively, but if you use a calm mind set on Blissey and/or cresselia, it is suprisingly easy to sweep late game. It is probably best used when paired with a ghost, as that will ensure that skarm's work setting up spikes is not for nothing. The only Pokémon this combination has trouble handling really is CBHera, but then CBHera can stop pretty much anything if you can predict right.

Boah still destroys that entire combination, although Boah is rare now these days. Any Choiced pokemon can simply be beaten with prediction (situational) imo, take a CC on Cress or Megahorn on Skarm. Just add Cursepert and your good

Me saying Swampert just now... we completely took the approach of this thread wrong. We just named a 5 pokemon combination when we're supposed to name one equally good to Celetran, which is only 2 pokemon (although people have been naming a 3 pokemon combo and I guess that's ok too).

Vaporeon and celebi work well together,

Celebi @Leftovers
Calm Nature
236 hp / 134 def / 140 spD
-Leech seed
-Toxic
-Leaf Storm
-Recover

the spD ev's give 300 spD, more than enough to survive ice beams and flamethrowers left and right, the hp will reach 400 for max leftovers recovery, th extra ev's were put into defense, not neccessary as vaporeon takes most physical hits

Vaporeon @ Leftovers
Bold Nature
252 hp / 180 def / 78 spA
-Surf
-Hp electric
-Protect
-Wish

they cover eachothers weaknesses and also have great recovery at the same time, attacking and stalling will drain the opponent until they are no more.

Calm Celebi is only ruining the purpose of the combination. Celebi shouldn't be taking Ice Beams and Flamethrowers when Vappy can do all of that and more. Just go Bold 252 HP/220 Def/36 Spe. Ditch Leaf Storm, Grass Knot is superior so it can have a chance against Gyarados. Ditch Toxic for T-Wave as well so you can cripple Heatran switch-ins.

I'd add Ice Beam over HP Electric to hit Salamence, as you have celebi to counter Gyarados already. The EVs you have for Vaporeon are meant to KO Yache Berry-less Garchomp, but with Garchomp into Ubers those SpAtk EVs aren't needed anymore. Simply use 36 SpAtk EVs to guarantee a KO on 0 HP Mence, and add the rest in Def.

Small point DTS, but a 0 SpA Vaporeon does 108.4 - 127.8% to a 0 HP Salamence, but Vaporeon usually run 20 SpA EVs to OHKO 120 HP Salamence. I agree completely with everything else you have to say though, very solid advice =).

Zapdos@Life Orb
Tbolt
Hp Grass
Roost
Heat wave

Smogon Ev Spread ^^

And

Swampert@Choice Band
Waterfall
Earthquake
Ice Punch
Stealth Rock/ Stone Edge (whichever suits your team)

This Ev Spread Is Actually 252attack/umm this i have forgotten but enough speed to outspeed skarmory and the rest in hp =)..
Given me plenty of flinches and when torrent has been boosted does a LOT to skarms

This is a great offensive combo ive been using for quite the while on my SS team. Pretty Nice ^_^

Dragonite + Snorlax + Scizor

Alright, this is a combination that I have been using for about a month. Let me explain. Dragonite's main weakness is Ice, which Snorlax and Scizor both resist. Scizor's only weakness in Fire, which Snorlax and Dragonite both resist. Snorlax's only weakness is Fighting which Dragonite has a resistance to. Together, these three resist each others main weakness's near perfectly and work greatly as a defensive and offensive combo. Dragonite usually tends to attract Pokemon with strong Ice attack's such as Vaporeon, Mamoswine and Suicune. Snorlax takes most bulky waters with ease and can hit back hard with Body Slam while Scizor deals with Pokemon with the priority move Ice Shard. Snorlax tends to bring out Pokemon with strong Fighting attacks such as Heracross who Dragonite does a great job at walling with enough EV's invested in HP. Scizor tends to attract Pokemon with Fire moves such as Heatran, Rotom, and Zapdos. Snorlax does an excellent job dealing with Zapdos and Heatran and can also threaten Rotom with Crunch. Dragonite ca set up a Light Screen on Heatran locked onto a Fire Blast or Earth Power and can also set up a Light Screen on a zapdos without Hidden Power Ice. From there, Dragonite can safely start setting up a couple of Dragon Dances. While behind a Light Screen, you'll take about 40%-47% from Vaporeon's Ice Beam, which in turn would be reduced to about 20%-23% if behind Light Screen and Roosting. Light Screen also helps Scizor takes special attacks such as Thunderbolt and Surf allowing Scizor to set up quite easily.

If you are interested in using the combination of Dragonite, Snorlax, and Scizor, I usually use the following:

Bulky Dragonite

Dragonite@ Leftovers
Ev's: 248 HP / 216 SpD / 44 Spe
Ability: Inner Focus
Nature: Calm
-Toxic
-Light Screen
-Roost
-Flamethrower

Bulky Dragonite is one of my favorite Pokemon. While behing a Light Screen, he is able to take many Special hits including Ice Beam's from bulky waters such as Vaporeon only taking 40%-47%. With the HP investement, he is also capable of taking physical hits from the likes of Heracross. His big weakness to Ice is covered by Scizor and Snorlax and with Light Screen, he is a real team player. The 44 Speed EVs are important on this set as they put Dragonite's speed at 207.

Sleep Talk Snorlax

Snorlax@ Leftovers
Ev's: 244 HP / 28 Def / 236 SpD
Ability: Thick Fat
Nature: Careful
-Body Slam
-Crunch
-Sleep Talk
-Rest

Snorlax takes the Ice and fire attacks aimed at Dragonite and Scizor. He also takes status effects aimed at dragonite and Scizor. With Rest, Snorlax is able to take on Rotom much more easily just in case Snorlax gets hit with a W-o-W. Overall, he is the status taker for this combo.

SD Scizor

Scizor@ Leftovers
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Technician
Ev's: 252 HP, 76 Atk, 176 SpD, 4 Spe
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Brick Break
- Roost

Once Snorlax and Dragonite take care of the threats that harm Scizor, Scizor can begin to set up Swords Dance and proceed to sweep. Scizor also serves as a good revenge killer with Bullet Punch allowing him to take care of weakened Pokemon. With the above EV spread, Scizor is bulky enough to take multiple hits and with Light Screen set up by Dragonite, Scizor can become a tough Pokemon to take down once his counters are gone. Scizor takes care of Mamoswine and Weavile who harm Snorlax and Dragonite.

If using this combination, make sure your team has an effective way to deal with Infernape. Infernape can destroy this combination with Close Combat, Hidden power Ice, and Fire Blast, Something like a Starmie or Tentacruel can help you combat Infernape. You can also try to wear Infernape down with Life Orb if you can predict well enough.

.............
Enjoy :toast:
.............

Gliscor @ Life Orb
Jolly - Sand Veil
252 HP, 40 Atk, 216 Spe

- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Roost

Outspeeds Jolly Lucario and most Salamence and Zapdos. After a Swords Dance, it OHKOs Salamence, Zapdos, Gyarados, Togekiss, etx with Stone Edge, while OHKOing Metagross, Tyranitar, Heatran, Lucario, etc with Earthquake. The combination is only resisted by Breloom and Bronzong in OU. In my opinion, this Gliscor set is the best replacement for Garchomp there is. Roosts off Close Combats and Life Orb damage to stay alive and set up easily.
why not Hyper Cutter, to suppress Intimidates?
