Other The OU Theorymon Project (CLOSED)

I dont think everyone understands why I suggested hydriegon. Hydriegon would be such a viable deffoger because it has no fear of bisharp and deosharp/aegi cores and would nerf that playstyle, by far the most common in OU. Hydriegon would have longevity with roost, great utility with defog and superpower for bisharp and dark pulse to destroy aegi and deo d. The fact that a theorymon project pokemon can nerf the most powerful and common playstyle in OU should definately be given more thought. The best set would be:
- 32 speed ev's to outspeed adamant bisharp
- 248 hp for odd hp number and bulk
- 120 defence to only get 30hko'd by a +2 life orb bisharp sucher punch
- attack nature but enough ttack ev's to guarentee a ko on bisharp with superpower (little ev's are needed)
- rest into sp.attack for powerful dark pulses
- leftovers for recovery
- moveset roost/superpower/defog/dark pulse

^And there's no doubt that's impressive-- but the set you suggested is basically dead weight against anything else. The question is if people are willing to sac a slot just to counter one type of enemy team.

Even when Drizzle offense was THE top team in BW OU (with Torn-T, Thundurus-T, Keldeo running around), and Kingdra was essentially an auto-win against it, very few people ran Kingdra.

Okay now I think I'll be voting for prankster gourgeist. Its definitely a very interesting addition, looking at its troll movepool. WoW, Seed, Confuse Ray, etc. This really sounds fun to use :3
While fur coat aromatisse is really cool as well, it isn't as interesting as prankster gourgeist.

I wanted Prankster Gourgeist the first go-round but after giving it some thought and looking at the discussion I'd lean toward Defog Hydreigon. The pumpkin would be way too good because it pretty much has an answer for everything. It's like a Swiss-Army knife of Doom. After seeing stuff like SwagPlay and Baton Pass wreak havoc I think Gourg could be that annoying. Hell even its biggest threat Talonflame can't KO it with a CB Brave Bird.

I like the idea of Hydreigon making Bisharp/Thundurus think twice about switching into Defog. Bisharp wants no part of Super Power/Focus Blast and Thundurus has to risk taking a Draco Meteor instead, which has a 44% chance to KO it. Hydreigon has a bad case of 4MSS though because you want Roost to make it last and Dark Pulse for Deoxys-D. It's going to pretty much come down to which Defiant user gives you the most trouble but I really like the potential impact that Hydreigon can have. Great suggestion overall.

As much as I think that Defog Hydreigon would be a nice addition, I think I'm going to go with Prankster Gourgeist, simply because I think it would have a great chance of becoming our first S rank Defensive mon. Other the Deo-D, but that's usually used on hyper offense anyway.

I hate the idea of prankster gourgeist for many reasons, but the main one is that I don't think it'd have any positive effect on the meta.

Priority WoW, especially from a viable threat like this will greatly decrease the viability of physical attackers, unless they are fire type, or have priority themselves. Basically, TALONFLAME EVERYWHERE!

Stall too takes a hit. Chansey can take WoW, but can do literally nothing back, and it'd take 25% each turn from burn and leech seed until it switches out. Venusaur's a better option, but getting a WoW off before switching out can make venusaur hate life too.

Gourgeist would definitely fit, but I don't like the cost. It won't be broken, but it'd have a significant effect on the meta, I just consider it a bad one

With eight current votes in, who knows what the results shall come in as? Hurry to the PM polls today to ensure your vote will be among those who have already voted!

BEWARE VOTERS!

Can you really live to trust a Pokémon that has been a known as electric bait? With his win, he could be caught stealing your electricity and charging up your electric bills! Does this Jellyfish really deserve your vote?!

And what of the Hydreigon who's nefarious tactics earned him the nomination of defog, a tool which he can and will use to make all bend to his will as you can not hope to escape the moves he will impose on you! Can you really expect this Defog to benefit your team as a whole and not something that will just be used to make its enemies unable to escape the Hydra's wrath?

Then the current "popular vote" Gourgeist. Do we really want to have our winner be known as the Pumpkin + prankster? You want the world to know you go around supporting conniving thieves don't you!?

No one likes Fairies, but one that is absurdly bulky on both ends of the spectrum? Do not wish for a wall this memorial weekend voting period, but vote for a offensive Grass type that will be there to enforce his soon to be Draconic powers to help us all!

We get commentary? Sweet!

Can we post political messages like "Gourgeist was caught stealing millions of pokedollars in tax evasion, he can't be trusted in life, and he can't be trusted in theorymon. I'm sceptile, and I approve this message"?

I think it goes without saying. I think its fine but truthfully I just jumped the gun at that idea. I don't think axel will mind but it be good to get some awareness that you are still able to vote and join in on some activity as we wait for the stuff to be tallied.

Do you really want to be tricked by the devious dragon? The evil "dragon" has merely stolen the good snake Serperior's typing and called it a day. He tricks with empty promises of "power" but fails to impress with its weak coverage and frail body.

The devious Gougeist may be a good ally, but when on the opponent's side, it rules like a tyrant with the threat of taking an ally down with it looming in the distance. Slowly draining the life out of your allies and healing itself, burning and weakening your friends' will to fight. Watch as slowly your teammates die to this evil onslaught.

A fairy so unbreakable, you will try to rip to shreds as it walls your friends and allies with it's body softening it's blows as the air trapped by the fur compresses. Only heroic moles and magic bypassing the protective properties of it's body can stop this.

The Hydra, growing stronger as you try to cut down its heads. Using a swap of its wings, it utilises a gust so strong, it blows away your teammates sacrifices. Watch as your alien, power ranger and heroic sword fall to this blood thirsty enemy.

Only the honest and hardworking Jellyfish can be trusted with its ability to stop bolts of wrath and frozen beams of hax can save you. Vote for Jellicent today!

Do you want an effective Theorymon? Consider for a moment your true options.

Jellicent is old news, having ridden out his time in the rain and thinking he can regain the glory of his Unova youth using his astounding Facial hair and promises of a new immunity. But what will it bring? Nothing can move the Jellyfish now, not even his trainer. He'll sit there, consuming power to regain his health and never budging an inch, grinding the momentum of his poor teammates to a halt.

Sceptile's new typing boasts of its glorious speed and STAB, but the threats are empty. He cannot even boast the Meteor like strength of true Dragons, and this new typing will not save his inability to stand against enemy firepower. A candidate who does not know when he is in over his head, attempting to stay above ocean waves with water wings.

Hydreigon boasts of his coverage, and true, nothing can switch in, but he fails to adapt to new threats. Hydreigon lacks the means to defeat his greatest nemesis in the Metagame, the Fairy Party, and still fulfill his claims of Defogging. Should he spread himself to do so, his coverage will not suffice, and in competition with other powerhouses, his advantage over a few Defiant fiends will not avail him of his shortcoming to power creep.

Aromatisse boasts of her new physical bulk, but like Jellicent, can only offer encouragement, wishes, and a little status security to its allies. Left to its own devices, the Fairy Fraud is powerless against the ever prevalent cold steel, and those that would step out of bounds and break the Mold will find her Fur Coat an artificial protection.

Cast your vote for the true candidate: Gourgeist. A simple Pumpkin with an enjoyment for the little things in life, planting the seeds of victory, lighting the way with Will-o-wisp, and Bonding its Destiny to those it would be gracious enough to share the field with, this little joker is a dependable, sturdy, and firm president, who will not back down in the face of the Tyrannical Mega sweepers that have entered into our lives.

The Great Gourgeist: True support, he'll pull his bulk and shield the frail fighters of our great Metagame

With a day of fighting and fierce competition anearing its end, will the battle end with an underdog coming out to be the one victor or will we see the expected win it all? Who will be the best around and claim their immortal fame?

The polls will close in four hours. Do your part today for your candidate!

yeah, and by protecting the drains on society, hard working pokemon like Azumarill that have worked their way up from the very bottom to the very top will suffer.

Vote for Hydreigon today! He promises to break up the monopoly on hazards and allow meta game growth, and he won't bring you and your hard working pokemon down to do it! Keep the Pokemon Dream Alive!
