Well, if true, we have money to spend on at least one big signing. Swapping Vidic for Benzema and buying a new defender isn't out of the question. However, that'd be something that should happen in the Summer, not January.

Obviously, I'd hate to lose Vidic though.

just to inform you, patrick vieira has signed a six month contact with man city, with the chance of it being extended by one year. personally, i only think he has moved so he can try, futilely, to get into the france world cup squad.

More games called off today. I think so far, Birmingham vs Man Utd is the only Premier League game still on. Gives us a chance to go top and stay there if we win - but I assume this game could be called off at any time as well...

The snow is becomming a nuisanse now: interfering with signals, preventing public transport from serving the community and now causing matches to be post-poned! I think I prefer rain.

Either way, I guess there's some Spanish football to enjoy.

Milan v Juve should be a good game, could see Ciro Ferrara out the door. Beckham's slotted in seamlessly on right flank of our attacking trident, so its definitely going to be interesting to see if Boriello gets the nod over Pato. Surely not i think?

1 - And you still complain. Here I'm tiring of getting cold, rain, wind. The rest of the country still gets some snow. Here in Lisbon, NOTHING, only the crappy stuff. Damn :P

2 - I really lol'd at the second sentence. Because, spanish/non-english-club-european-matches only exist when england is full of snow as white as the queen's hair.

Sry for double, but the Togolese FA just announced their official withdrawal from CAN due to the brutal attack they suffered yesterday. The team is currently in Luanda trying to persuade the other teams to follow suit and boycott the tournament.

I strongly oppose.
  • First, and most importantly, it's a huge loss for footbal. The CAN showplays some of the best, most underrated football on earth, and it would be a shame if it fails to happen (and it doesn't air on a premium channel).
  • Second, it will be severe precedent, if such thing happens. It will mean that the terrorists succeded, and will be disrespectful towards the Heysel disaster and the Munich massacre victims.
  • Third, Angola has put foward tons of funds for this. It can be a massive blow to their economy if the tourney is cancelled. Remeber we're talking about a country that has been in civil war for decades, and just pulled out of it (the attack was perpetrated by seperatists of a nothern province), and as such their economy might not be able to recover.
  • And finally, do not forget this happened in Angola, right next to South Africa. It poses a serious threat to the WC...

First one to say "d00d, we got drogba back earlier" is a moron.

and the angola government says they havn't...
anyway
arsenal 2-2 everton, arsenal scored TWO defelected golas, on in 92nd minutes.. still they drop points, now united have to beat birmingham and go top

Sorry Phalanx, but Manchester United drawed against Birmingham City, 1 - 1 was the final score. This match was better then the last game against Leeds, but still it didn't shine like the previous seasons that Manchester United has played. First half was entirely for Mancheter United, but the only chance Birmingham gets and it's a goal:S Luckily Arsenal drawed too, or else it would double as painful

Fulham vs Stoke 2-3. Fulham fans can be sad but as a American National team fan I've gotta be happy with Dempsey coming in as a sub getting an assist and scoring a pretty ridiculous goal to almost put his team back in the game.

Overall, even with of all the canceled EPL matches it's been a pretty great week for seeing some beautiful football.

Juventus ahs some pretty bad injured players. Eight base players. That gives Ciro Ferrara a bigger chance to get fired. Also, Ajax-Juventus (EL) won't be possible for some of them. Also, they asked Marco Van Basten for Juventus. Bad, he was a good player, but sucks as a coach. Failing for the Dutch national team and he quit coaching Ajax because he did a bad job. Under Martin Jol, Ajax is much better. Also, Guus Hiddinks name has been linked to Juventus.

I see little chance that Liverpool will eventually win the Europa League. There are better teams at the moment in the tournament. For example Rubin Kazan(current and last years champions of Russia), Valencia, Shaktar Donetsk(last winner of the UEFA Cup), Vfl Wolfsburg(last years champions of Germany) and Werder Bremen

Yeah Liverpool is looking terrible at the moment and I can't see them winning the europa league. However their free signing of Maxi Rodriguez is an excellent bargain and definately a step in the right direction.

liverpool aren't winning anything this year, especially with new injury woes. torres 6 weeks, gerrard 2 weeks and benayoun 4 weeks.

not looking good for rafa

I don't think that even Gerard or Torres could still help Liverpool win just 1 prize this year. They play terrible, Benitez isn't helped by injuries of key players and the bosses are fighting about the club so Liverpool wouldn't get new players
