A couple of great CL ties coming up, especially Arsenal/Barca. Some good sub-plots to that tie...Henry against his old team, more Fabregas speculation.

Liverpool/Benfica should be an amazing Europa League tie. Benfica's team is entertaining to watch and they are quite loaded with talented attacking players.

Barcelona look really strong right now. They totally destroyed Stuttgart, and Messi is at the top of his game right now. Their my favourites to win.

Bayern Munich just lost in the last 3 minutes. They leaded the match with 0-1 in Frankfurt, but in the 87' and the 89' Frankfurt scored a goal, meaning that they win with 2-1. It's a shame for Van Gaal, but this is football and football is a match of 90 minutes

So if Barcelona beat Arsenal should we just send Fabregas to Barcelona now, before he leaves in the summer.

Great idea, let we just wast Cesc's talent and let him go to Barcelona. What a joke. Let the poor boy stay in London and let him play for Arsenal as long as possible. Barcelona was dumb enough to let him go. Cesc is now a Gunner and I hope that he will stay a Gunner

Btw ucl predictions

Lyon x Bordeaux - Classic, no favorites.
Arsenal x Barcelona - lol messi
Bayern x Manchester - Huh this one is the closest match
Inter x CSKA - free pass for inter ~_~

Must be an omen.

Yea i don't want to get rid of Cesc, but i think its a very good chance that if they get beat by Barcelona he will be going to Barcelona in the summer.

I'll never forget Lothar Matthäus's face, he had been subbed out by then. He had alredy lost an ECC to Porto in 87 in the exact same way, and he was like "wtf, jesus?"

Great result for United, I thought we were a little jittery in the first half, but the second half was great.

Whaddya mean, bullshit penalty? He was literally pulling Valencia back!

Yea outside of the box, you don't throw yourself to the floor like you have been shot by someone holding your arm. It was a free kick outside the box then a blatant run and dive into the box by Valencia.

He was holding his arm back, both in and outside the area. You can't run with only one arm moving so he went down. It's a blatant penalty. Benitez is a moron. Liverpool were lucky that Gerrard was playing after he hit a Shawn Michaels style forearm (was probably self defence in fairness of course) on Michael Brown the other day and that Mascherano wasn't sent off because Carragher would never have got across to Valencia when he has the accelaration of a Volvo.

So Liverpool. In your face. :P

Atleast they now know where they are standing. Chelsea drawing against Blackburn, which means that Manchester United stays on the top spot on the league table.

What a day, what a day.

Messi scored another hat-trick today, thats 11 goals in last 5 games.

I actually think is unhealthy to be that good.

If Messi can stay on top form Barca will win the CL with ease

It's not healthy that defenders are scared to touch the kid. It's not that Messi is so fucking good, but sometimes it's more that other players are 'afraid' of him. Against Stuttgart, 4 defenders around him and no one even wanting to try and tackle him. That like wtf?

Probably for 2 reasons:

1: With respect for all his talent, even a breeze could knock messi down
or
2: It's well known that Messi is skilled in the, uh, performing arts, other than marvelous dribbling. (Theatre, if you didn't get it)

In happier news, Benfica wins the League Cup, 3-0 clean sweep on Porto.

gerrard should have been suspended for a previous piece of violent conduct the week before the bown one, so how the FA can ban ferdinand and let gerrard do something similar not once but TWICE unpunished is beyond me.
whats bullshit, is the fact torres wasn't booked for kicking the penalty spot, then got booked later on, so he woulda gone, mascerano was lucky with the yellow, as it was almost identical in player positions, to vermaelans who was sent off, to me valencia had a goal shooting opertunity, if he stayed on his feet he woulda prolly had a shot, the other defender would not have got back, so yea thats a red not a yellow i'm afraid.
great set of results, chelsea drawing at blackburn was fantastic

Yea you clearly don't watch him enough Messi always tries to stay on his feet, a lot and he always trys to get back up unlike Ronaldo.

He is the best player in the world i don't see how an argument can be made, he has a very good chance of going down as the best player of this generation better then Ronaldo better then Rooney better then all of them.

Its a shame he is probably going to be robbed(or Rooney if United win the CL) of World Player of the Year, by some player who has been average all season then has a few good games as part of what ever squad wins the World Cup. Always happens in World cup year

I personally think that Ronaldo is better than Messi. I've watched both a lot, and Messi is still at the stage Ronaldo was when he was younger, a lot more easy on the eyes. But I feel that all of Ronaldo's attributes (other than perhaps staying down and his constant bitching, though Messi has been guilty of that sometimes too) better Messi's. This is one argument that'll never be resolved as so many fans have a different opinion on who is better. The fact is, they're definitely the two best attacking players in the world and stand out far ahead of everyone else.

Anyway, Man Utd has the advantage in the Premier League title race now, even if Arsenal have 'easier' games for the most part. Even if Chelsea win their game in hand, they're a point behind Man Utd and might need to win at Old Trafford to keep their hopes up. They've also got to play Aston Villa, Tottenham, and Liverpool.

The penalty wasn't 'bullshit'. The laws of the game on the FA's website state that:
If a defender starts holding an attacker outside the penalty area and continues
holding him inside the penalty area, the referee must award a penalty kick.
So, I think that's far from bullshit. If Mascherano had learned anything from the mistakes Vidic made against Liverpool in the last games, he wouldn't have given the referee a decision to make. You can make someone have a hard time getting a shot away without holding them, even if Valencia is much quicker than perhaps the entire Liverpool team. Oh, and Ji-Sung Park's goal was just sublime. 14-15 passes to keep it away from Liverpool, Rooney's movement to take out Carragher, Nani's position to attract Johnson, Neville's run to open up Insua, Fletcher's peach of a cross and Park's header. Magic.

Liverpool finishing fourth is looking less likely, hopefully Spurs, Villa, and City (yes.. City lol) don't choke as the teams trying to get there usually do.
