oh man what a day. what a fucking DAY.
after yesterday's general disappointment and 14/16 going chalk, today we get a grand total of EIGHT higher seeds winning, and two 2 seeds losing on the same day when only 4 have ever lost r1 EVER.
damn
lots of good close games too. the 7 PM block of games were all really good but a lot of them were overshadowed by dook sucking. st mary's/purdue and michigan/ohio were both pretty interesting finishes, and memphis hung in there for a long time.
Best game of the day of course has to go to NORFOLK STATE. My bracket on this yahoo pool was strangely called "duke sucks mizzou sucks more". Weird. Notable mention is Creighton/Alabama St which was close all the way, and the huge turnaround by USF. Florida St/Bonaventure was real good too.
Worst? IDK. So many good ones. I think a lot of people were pulling for Detroit but come on, three 15 seeds in one day? Florida came out real strong and made for a pretty uninteresting game. A lot of people expected Georgetown to choke too but they had a pretty easy victory. The real losers are the refs though. A lot of fairly bad officiating, especially in Michigan/Ohio.
Winning conference: Big ten, I guess? Michigan was an embarrassment, but the rest have proven themselves strong. Every other conference had its winners and losers.
Losing conference: Mountain West kinda disappointed. Always like to hate on the big least come tourney time but USF looked VERY good in the second half. And most of their embarrassments were yesterday.
Biggest surprise: USF. And, you know, the 15 seeds. NC State impressed as well.
Biggest disappointment: San Diego St, Temple, and the last possessions of several of the close games. But that's just how it goes. The ND/Xavier one must've been painful for a ND fan though. That's a shitty way to lose.
so somehow i've only lost 3 sweet 16 teams (temple, duke, and san diego st). Still have my whole elite 8 despite going 21/32. XD
