This is an M&S Now Playing Thread

The old thread got ridiculous, ending up full of one-line postcount++ posts, serving absolutely no purpose whatsoever.

This is not a Now Playing thread. If you want to share a song you like, go right ahead - but if it's not worth describing then please don't bother. Sell us the song, convince us to try it! If you can provide a link that's great, people will be 10 times more likely to listen to something if it's just one click away.

I'll lead by example:

Ellie Goulding - Under The Sheets (Jakwob remix)
Electro-synth remix of a great song made greater. Ellie Goulding's vocals get chopped up and thrown around in a very fresh breakbeat/synth style, revamping the original but retaining its essence. Recommended for anyone into indie-electro!

Ok you guys probably heard this before but I'll go ahead anyway:

Maroon 5 - Harder to breathe

I recently got into Maroon 5, and they're really quite good. The lead vocalist's unique voice almost trademarks the songs, with a fantastic lyric choice to back them up. Harder to breathe is one of my favourites due to the strong backbeat and catchy chorus. I reckon anyone who is a fan of Huey Lewis and the News, Level 42 and other rock bands will love Maroon 5.

Am I doing it right? :3

Soundgarden - Big Dumb Sex

The title of this song itself says something, but when you actually listen to it you'll know this song is something "different". This song is driven by a frenzy guitar that goes fast paced and stays that way throughout the song. "Big Dumb Sex" is known more for it's lyrics that take a shot at glam metal, Chris Cornell's vocals on here are mixed between a high and low voice. Instrumentally this song isn't going to wow you, despite that this song is one of early Soundgarden's catchier songs. "Big Dumb Sex" is one of the songs that make Louder Than Love my second favorite Soundgarden album.

Danger Radio- Your Kind

This is probably the best acoustic session ive ever heard, this version is better than theyre studio recorded version, they really have talent.
I suggest you listen to this version first, then if you like this style of music, listen to the studio version.

Amorphis - House Of Sleep

Quite heavy but very melodic song with not too harsh vocals at all, great riffs and a really catchy chorus. Genre is a bit hard to define, probably falls somewhere between progressive metal and melodic death metal. Most of the Eclipse album is good, but this is arguably the best song on it.

Omar Rodriguez Lopez - Mundo De Ciegos

Omar Rodriguez was the guitarist in At the Drive-In and The Mars Volta, two of my all time favorite bands. This is a song from one of his solo albums, featuring his brother on piano and the drummer from The Mars Volta on drums. The singing is in spanish, so it is a lot easier to focus more on the music and less on the words (unless you know spanish of course). The piano work is amazing, the guitar is impressive, the drums are solid, and the song in general has a really cool feel. I really suggest you listen to more of Omar's stuff.

Chuck Ragan -The Boat

This guy's incredible. He's the vocalist of Hot Water Music, but he does acoustic singer-songwriter stuff by himself. It's a lot different but it's really good. It's really folk punkish at some points. So yeah, if you're into older Against Me!, check this dude out.

Against Me! - We're Breaking Up

from their new album "White Crosses".. I cant provide a link since it just leaked..

from the sound of it, it isnt as "poppy" as their last album and sounds quiet melodic but I still miss their raw sound found on their EPs and first album... this sounds better than their last one though

Everlong - Foo Fighters

This is the best song of all time IMO. It starts of soft and then builds up until te drums kick in. This song is so epic live I really reccomend you check it out

Regarding Everlong, I never saw what was so great about that song. It's solid to be sure, but it's not a song that commands me to turn up my stereo.

Bomb the Music Industry - Syke! Life is Awesome

this is one of the most upbeat songs I have personally heard this side of fun., the whole song has a generally positive outlook compared to most of the depressing music made these days!

Black Sabbath - Neon Knights

Some people had started to lose hope in Black Sabbath after their last two albums with Ozzy Osbourne. Ozzy left the band and people questioned would Black Sabbath be able to continue you on. Ronnie James Dio was hired to replace Ozzy Osbourne as vocalist. Dio brought a lot to the band such as amazing singing as well as actually contributing to the song writing. "Neon Knights" was the last song written for the band's first album with Dio titled Heaven and Hell. "Neon Knights" is a song that represents Dio Sabbath well being a fast song and containing a chorus you won't forget that is simple and effective, Bill Ward delivers some nice drumming here too. "Neon Knights" is just one song of eight off the excellent Heaven and Hell album.

i hated dio's lyrics, geezer's lyrics were much more interesting. Honestly, Geezer is just about the only person whose lyrics I like enough to listen to. Him and whoever wrote the lyrics for Saint Vitus. Speaking of which...

Saint Vitus - Zombie Hunger

This song makes a lot of things that I don't usually like vocally amazing. I don't usually like vibrato singers, but his voice is absolutely fantastic, and he warbles every single note, driving the last word of the line into your brain. That probably is what makes me actually listen to the lyrics, which are positively creepy.

Refused - New Noise (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJa3eUczYaM)

well, I guess you know Refused, one of the most influential punk bands. New Noise is one of their more known songs and it kicks ass. It just sounds so fresh and full of energy (like their whole album) and this is essential for anyone that likes punk.

Black Sabbath - Neon Knights

Some people had started to lose hope in Black Sabbath after their last two albums with Ozzy Osbourne.

Started to lose hope? You just linked an extremely poppy hard rock song under the name of Black Sabbath talking about how it somehow made everything better. It has nothing to do with hope, just what sucks ass or not, and this does. Paranoid is raw and incredible; this is crap. It is better than the crap Black Sabbath was just before this, but that does not make it any sort of salvation!

The Burning of Sodom - Dark Angel

Anyone who likes fast, heavy music needs to look into Dark Angel. One of my favorite bands of all time, not because their terribly original or anything, but just because they're so fucking good at what they do that they blow most other bands out of the water. Darkness Descends is simply a masterpiece.

If you think Metallica have the fastest guitars or the best solos click that link NOW. Thrash metal at it's best.

Have you heard Technical Ectasy or Never Say Die? ... As far as Paranoid goes, Master of Reality is a better album. Dio Sabbath and Ozzy Sabbath are different and have their pros and cons. As far as Ozzy Sabbath went, Ozzy was just there and lucky enough to sing with Iommi, Butler, and Ward.

Taeyang - Wedding Dress

It's a Korean hip-hop, but a really great song nonetheless. The link I provided is to the MV of the song Wedding Dress. I hope you guys will enjoy listening to it, and the story is fairly touching--it doesn't take understanding of the language.

Why would you willfully neglect part of what I wrote if you are going to respond to me? I fucking plainly said that it was better than the crap before it, what did you think I was referencing? And what, are you trying to further claim my opinion is somehow wrong by claiming Master of Reality is better? It might be for you; as fairly meaningless as it might be, however, the majority opinion is absolutely, irrefutably on my side here. None of that even matters, however, because it is fucking irrelevant. Even if Master of Reality is better, I cited Paranoid, and I cited it to compare Black Sabbath to not Black Sabbath - you failed to refute that past "well, both have good traits and bad traits", without actually citing any traits.

Dio Sabbath and Ozzy Sabbath are different. One is raw, coherent, has amazing talent at every position, and made amazing songs at one point. One made poppy, incoherent, poorly written trash. They should not even have the same name - "Dio Sabbath" is simply not Black Sabbath.

Oh, that was a nice reply. My favorite part was where you ignored most of my post.

It is not determined by a man, but rather is determined by a whole style. The first three albums were a heavy, kind of plodding style, often reliant on very unique Ozzy vocals. The Dio shit is typical hard rock "metal", but poppier than average. It is two entirely fucking different bands.

Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin.

This was going to be said sooner or later. if you havn't heard this song what have you been doing for the past 20 years? I really like the solo (I can nearly play it). The whole song is just epic from the awesome intro to the epic solo.

I like this idea, way better then the previous topic.

Mumford and Sons - The Cave

I recently found this awesome band and I gotta say I fell in love with them. The way they mix different music styles is brilliant and I continuesly play their album. What I like best about this song is the way it develops. It starts out rather simple and it becomes more complicated by the minute. Also, the singer has an awesome voice which is quite unlike most of the stuff I've heard recently. It's also really catchy. Anyways, I love their album and some other highlight tracks on it (mainly this, Little Lion Man and Winter Winds).
