Top five bands?

Dragonforce
System of a Down
Jimmy Eat World
The Bravery
The White Stripes

I could name so many more though

1. against me! (old stuff, obviously)
2. latterman
3. billy bragg
4. XBXRX
5. the books

while 3-5 change frequently, am! will always be my favourite band and latterman my second

[1] Interpol
[2] Broken Social Scene
[3] Modest Mouse
[4] Voxtrot
[5] Ladytron/Le Tigre/Wolf Parade

ALL at a tie after interpol

Fuck yeah! Ladytron is 6th on my list. One of the best electronica bands ever.

I'm starting to catch up on Lemon Demon as well, great songs, great lyrics, lovely voice.

Hm... only 5 of them....

1) Streetlight Manifesto - Awesome
2) Less Than Jake - More of Awesome
3) Reel Big Fish - Original Awesome
4) Disturbed - Genre Switch
New 5) Forgot Guns 'N Roses.... They are amazing, but the others are more my style

Old 5) Hm... Some wierd three-way fusion of Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, and System of a Down.... I can't decide, but I've liked SoaD the longest.

this is off-topic, but the above user name is hella fucking dope

I'm surprised it took that long for someone to take it.

I guess I am a lot different than the rest of you:

1)Delerious?
2)As I Lay Dying
3)Demon Hunter
4)Haste The Day
5)Elton John

i definitely have more than 5 favorites, but...

1) Blink 182
2) Red Hot Chili Peppers
3) Sum 41
4) Green Day
5) Nirvana
erm dont kill me; i seem to be an outlier here other than Nirvana

although i must say Guns N' Roses and Queen deserve a spot too, and i have a place in my heart for Aerosmith and Jimi Hendrix

1. Bad Religion
2. Porcupine Tree
3. The Offspring
4. Minus The Bear
5. Bloc Party/the Bloodhound Gang

I won't put any electronica artists there, because I've never considered them bands.

edit: due to a sanders request, here's the list with electronica artists

1. Bad Religion
2. Infected Mushroom
3. Shpongle
4. Porcupine Tree
5. Chicane

1. Enya

The rest I can't really say which I like most, but it'd include Rachel's, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Dead Can Dance, The Cranberries, Jack Wall, Sigur Rós, Set Fire to Flames and a few others for sure. My top fave change a lot but I usually listen to the same bands for a long time.

missed this post; Rachel's rocks.

1. The Bled
2. Pelican
3. Isis
4. Red Sparrowes
5. Agalloch

Post Metal with a touch of screamo and doom metal, a perfectly balanced combination.

i don't see any doom metal there. just black metal, sludge and metalcore.

1. against me! (old stuff, obviously)
2. latterman
3. billy bragg
4. XBXRX
5. the books

while 3-5 change frequently, am! will always be my favourite band and latterman my second

go books!

Why?
cLOUDDEAD
Guided by Voices
Pavement
A Tribe Called Quest

pretty solid on the placing

guided by voices for life.

1. Bad Religion
2. Porcupine Tree
3. The Offspring
4. Minus The Bear
5. Bloc Party/the Bloodhound Gang

I won't put any electronica artists there, because I've never considered them bands.

you might as well, i put jazz and electronica on mine.

1- Black Sabbath (I liked ozzy best, but the other stuff kicks ass as well)
2 Led Zeppelin
3- AC/DC
4- Nirvana
5- Metallica (mostly the 80s thrash stuff)

I generally like Metal and hard rock, but stuff like nirvana and pink floyd are great as well.

As a side note, I really haven't been into music really deep for more than about a year and a half, so 2-5 will likely change over time, but I doubt I will ever grow tired of the good 70s Black Sabbath music

This is easy, I decided on a Top 5 about a year ago and I don't think it will ever change:

1. Hum
2. Cursive
3. Built to Spill
4. The Appleseed Cast
5. Minus the Bear

The Smashing Pumpkins almost make the list because for about 7 years of my life they were my favorite band.
I expect no less of you...

I know my number one artist no questions asked, but it's a bit tougher to decide on the other ones. I'll just go by my last.fm which is actually kind of accurate.

1. Animal Collective
2. Neutral Milk Hotel
3. Radiohead
4. These Arms Are Snakes
5. Explosions in the Sky

But really, I love too many bands to be limited to 5, especially since it changes so frequently. The only bands that would stay up there for good are the top three, the other two are subject to change a lot. If not TAAS and EITS, Genghis Tron and The Appleseed Cast come in close seconds. Modest Mouse, Minus the Bear, At the Drive-In, 65daysofstatic, Hum, and Interpol all deserve mention. I also need to listen to more Slint :(

ecne i felt so bad leaving animal collective off mine : (

god. i felt so bad leaving cLOUDDEAD and why? off mine : (
