Hello, everyone! I took a huuuuge hiatus from pokemon for a while, and over the last couple of months I've been slowly working my way back into the scene. Not on the boards, of course, but I've been goofing off on the ladder. =P
Now anyways, I'm sure everyone has heard the commotion of Latias leaving OU and Salamence being a suspect: I honestly don't really care where everything is placed, to be honest. I just want to have fun. And honestly, the Latias metagame had become stale and boring. Don't turn this thread into a debate topic, haters: I'll simply ignore you. xD
With the ladder going up today I thought I would go ahead and try it out. I knew that Infernape would be a top-notch player with Latias gone, and I knew that everyone else knew it. And without even Mence to try and stop him, it was easy enough to run an all-physical set with CC, Overheat, ThunderPunch and Mach Punch(for Lucario/ Tyranitar, mostly). Otherwise, I just picked a couple of things I thought would work and threw them together into what I thought would be a pretty good and fun team.
So this warstory that you are about to read is only the third match I've had with this team: and it was 10x more exciting than any match I've had for a while. If that says anything about this metagame, then *insert McDonald's jingle here* I'm lovin' it!
First match was pretty even until I had a stall war against a Cresselia, Milotic, and Jirachi with my Forretress and Gyarados left(Infernape was around, but I never brought him in on account of being 100% walled by Cresselia). Milotic was just regular poisoned, Cresselia had Moonlight/Psychic/Reflect/Toxic, and Jirachi was odd Iron Head/ Fire Punch/ Wish/ Protect. With max spikes out(but no SR), I was able to wear down on Jirachi enough to beat it thanks to Roar on Gyarados. Eventually by the same effect Milotic fell too, with Recover being stalled out of PP. Against Cresselia I eventually had to force Psychic till that ran out, bringing in forrey only when the sp. defense drop occurred. Just when my forrey hit ~20% did my opponent run out of PP, and he/ she forfeited the match at that point. I would have warstory'd it, had it been not so terribly long. So onto the next match.
Second match was against an offensive team, which had a lot of Trick users. Eventually I gave Jirachi's Toxic Orb to a shaymin and CMed a couple of times, using the LO as extra power to run through(I think) a Zapdos and the sp. defense to go through Starmie. Also very close, but the score was considerably more one-sided that made me not want to use it(5-0).
And finally came this:
Rules: Ladder Match, Sleep Clause, Freeze Clause, OHKO Clause, Evasion Clause, Species Clause, Strict Damage Clause
bad ass sent out Forretress.
ss118 sent out Azelf.
Bluewind has entered the room.
I was curious as to why spectators were showing up in all my battles(I had ~5 in my Gyarados stallfest), when I realized that my opponent was the infamous Bad Ass! I was pretty sure I'd seen his name around the forums, so I prayed that this battle would be as good as the previous two.
At this point I'm really happy I'm running a +Sp. Attack nature: if it's Occa I'll be stripping a lot more, and if he switches I'll be stripping at least a little more. I really like Azelf leads because people tend to over-predict around them, just assuming about what they do.
bad ass switched in Jirachi.
Azelf used Fire Blast.
It's super effective!
Jirachi lost 88% of its health.
Azelf: 100% with Sash
Jirachi: 12%
And there we have it, folks: an over-prediction in one of my warstories that wasn't from me! ^^"
Now I figure he'll either Iron Head or U-Turn, neither of which my Azelf would like. Iron Head seems more likely, since allowing me to get up residual damage would be really costly to this Jirachi at this point. Forretress is the best switch-in, in any case.

Crap, now he can flinch straight through me! Oh wait, no you can't Jirachi, so go back to your pokeball and wait for Tyranitar or something before showing your pecker round these here parts.
Since I see no Leftovers, I can assume this is Scarf..... or is it Expert Belt? I've been messed with by that thing too many times: I decide to go back to Azelf. This way I'm not revealing new team members, and I can try and get SR back up. If it is scarfed, it will switch: if it is Expert Belt, Azelf can probably scare him out on a bluff since no one other than me would run a neutral speed nature on it.
bad ass switched in Forretress.
ss118 switched in Azelf.
He could also go back to Forrey and take everything back a step. I don't see a problem with Fire Blasting: I only force open his team even more, figuring out Fire resists that will probably get in Infernape's way later on.
ss118: back to square one eh?
ss118: xD
bad ass switched in Vaporeon.
Azelf used Fire Blast.
It's not very effective...

Vaporeon's leftovers restored its health a little!
Vaporeon restored 6% of its health.
Azelf: 100% with Sash
Vaporeon: 88%
...and here's one of the best Infernape counters ever to try and ruin everything. Thankfully, CC is a 2HKO with SR behind it, so if I can force Vaporeon to come into Infernape I can take it on still. Forretress will ensure that Vaporeon stays at critical health with Rapid Spin, so that is a problem. I'll need to get SR up and bring Infernape in on Forretress, then CC at it while Vaporeon comes in to take a Fire Blast or something. And unless he has an Infernape counter otherwise, I should be good. Azelf will do a good job at keeping Forretress away while getting SR up, so then my only problem at this point is predicting when Forretress will come in otherwise to try and remove it.
So that's my general gameplan. tl;dr - Get SR up, get Infernape in on Forrey, 2HKO Vaporeon. For now I'll try the power of max Sp. Attack Psychic against Vaporeon to see how it takes it.
Azelf used Psychic.

Well that didn't take off nearly as much as I would of liked! Thank you Azelf for everything but I need to get SR up more than I need to do anything else at this point: thanks for forcing my opponent to show 3 team members...
bad ass switched in Rotom-h.
Azelf used Stealth Rock.

...or four team members. Now with SR up, I guess I'll leave in Azelf to scout the set and see if I can get any more damage off with Psychic.
Rotom-h used Thunderbolt.
Azelf lost 35% of its health.
ss118's Azelf fainted.
And down goes the first member of the match. He opened my opponent's team to reveal a total of four members, keeping SR off my side of the field, stripping one member of the opponent's team to an almost useless state, and finally got SR up while luring out a second scarfer. You did very well, Azelf, now sleep peacefully.
Stuck in Scarfed Thunderbolt: I could bring out my Forrey to try and lure my opponent's, but that would lead to a stalemate so I can't assume Bad Ass will do that. Gyarados is out, and I want to keep Jirachi and Infernape at good health for late-game. Jolteon is my best option, I guess.
ss118 switched in Jolteon.
Now my opponent WILL switch: nothing I've seen on his team so far can take a Jolteon, so I assume his counter for it will be showing up now. Fake Tears takes advantage of whatever he will bring in, since not many people ever expect it.

This could work: but I would really not liked to be Toxic'd. I'll go to Jirachi so that if it Toxics, it won't affect me: if it has Thunder Wave, it will likely not use it so I won't have to worry about my Jirachi coming into Paralysis. Wow, that works out really well: I wish I could say that I planned it. T-T

I just need to be ready to move out so Forretress doesn't come in once he sees Psychic.

That works perfectly! Now that I'm locked into Psychic he'll likely bring in Forretress or Blissey.... but the problem stands that Vaporeon could be coming in as well. If it took Azelf's MUCH more powerful Psychic like it did, it could come in and get a Wish off easily on this one. Forget the plan, I'd rather keep Vaporeon at low Health than even giving it a chance to get itself back to full HP. Jolteon doesn't fare too badly against Blissey or Forretress either, so let's go Jolteon!

I figure he may switch out to conserve HP, so I'll just Thunderbolt instead of going with Fake Tears: I'll probably 3HKO just attacking, and if I fake Tears I turn it to a 2HKO, but I use a turn beforehand. So either way takes three turns: my way has more moments for random paralysis or a critical hit.

If I keep up with the "obvious" moves for the moment, later on he'll continuously expect them, allowing me to potentially set up and go.
Forretress is the best switch-in, in any case.
matty has entered the room.

Jirachi used Iron Head.

Vaporeon lost 18% of its health.
Vaporeon lost 36% of its health.

Azelf lost 65% of its health.
Vaporeon's leftovers restored its health a little!

Pointed stones float in the air around the foe's team!
...or four team members.

Well this was an interesting turn of events. I know I can take an Overheat so I'll just stay in and Psychic. I doubt I'll see Forretress come in without knowing my moveset, and I doubt he'll Trick, since I could be scarfed. I just need to be ready to move out so Forretress doesn't come in once he sees Psychic.

...hahahahahahahaha!

And now I wish I went to Infernape. Oh well, better to have chance later on than to never have a chance at all.

He'll likely go to Blissey: but I have a small plan at this point. If I keep up with the "obvious" moves for the moment, later on he'll continuously expect them, allowing me to potentially set up and go. Psychological warfare is something you usually don't expect this early, but I know that random playstyle changes are the best way to turn around games and surprise opponents. Well, here goes nothing.

Explosion Azelf, Fake Tears Jolteon, Toxic Orb Trick Jirachi, and even Toxic Spikes Forretress: they all help to wear down on this one pokemon and attempt to overwhelm stall. With that in mind he knows I want Blissey out: I'm confident that he'll bring in Blissey again to try and take advantage of some Sp.
