Personally I think they should be glad that this is one the main series games where the Sliding Ice Puzzle isn't mandatory for game completion (catching Articuno aside).
What makes you think people will not try to dick around there.

As I was typing that, I watched for the first time in a few hours, and saw a single misstep on an arrow panel. Gotcha.
The good news is that the teleport panels probably won't be as bad, so if we ever make it through the first Rocket base, the second should go a bit smoother.
I just realized how great it is that we tossed teleport.

So... the past twelve hours or so, they've been stuck in this puzzle:
Specifically, they haven't managed to step on the upper-leftmost arrow tile, taking them counterclockwise through the maze. For hours on end, they have been stuck trying to get around the wall in the upper right.
If they manage to get down that staircase, this awaits:
I guess it will only go slower and slower from here on, with trolls trying to go in the opposite direction just to screw with the progress. One mis-step will set them back by several hours.
