Nidoqueen
AgitatedMildDiamondbackrattlesnake-size_restricted.gif

Nidoqueen has seen a resurgence in usage after dropping off heavily, thanks to her hazard setting utility, great offensive coverage, and good bulk. Most notably, Nidoqueen operates as an offensive Stealth Rock user capable of threatening Scizor while not being terrified of it in return. Nidoqueen's good bulk and defensive typing allows her to take an assortment of hits throughout a game, and allow her EV spread to be customized to her Trainer's needs. Nidoqueen does have some tough choices to make in terms of coverage moves, item to hold, and EV spread to run, however, since she is too slow to be a purely offensive threat but lacks a recovery move to be a consistent wall. That means, however, that we should see a wide variety of different sets being used on this week's teams, so I'm looking forward to seeing them!

Teambuilding Restrictions:
  • The team should be built in the Sword and Shield UnderUsed format.
  • The team must include Nidoqueen.
Submission Deadline: Sunday, May 22, 2022 @ 11:59 PM EST (GMT-4).

:articuno::chansey::slowbro-galar::nidoqueen::tapu-bulu::celesteela:

Nidoqueen on stall lets me run a steel type and Chansey w/o SR since Nidoqueen can handle that. It also very softly counters Scizor so I can run Celesteela over Skarmory (and Glowbro of course is a decent Scizor counter). Nidoqueen being a ground type means I don't have to run Quagsire so Articuno to some extent covers Quagsire's Unaware/Hazing ability. Bulu helps Nidoqueen with extra passive recovery (and Celetseela's leech seed to a smaller extent does a similar thing), so that reduces the need for Wish.

UUFPL team uh yeah baby, while this is a very basic VoltTurn with the classic core of sciz + hydra + grass, nidoqueens role in it is very important and even neccessary. We use it as a bulky rocker that applies much needed offensive pressure into the opposition since our VoltTurn core isn't anything nuclear, the role compression it brings to this team as a check to Cobalion and soft check to Aegislash allows me to run a more flimsy ghost resist in scarf hydra and be more liberal with the way I play w sciz and tang. It can also apply huge pressure into slowking so that Keldeo can sweep late game

basic volt turn team having with slowking, rotom-w and crobat being the volt turn users. Nidoqueen fills the role of a stealth rocker that can apply pressure on grasses and steels which are pokemon that can deal with 1 or more pokemon of the volt turn. Scizor is here for being a pokemon that can abuse SD BP late game and can force pressure via knock off. Cobalion abuses knock off target towards pokemon such as nidoqueen, and crobat and can eat them up to get a free SD or fire powerful attacks off of the +1 boost.

Hello haven't done one of these in a while

:tangrowth: :moltres: :nidoqueen: :thundurus-therian: :primarina: :cinccino:

I like to call this team the Banded 115 dream. This team is cool because cinccino is fast and actually has some decent coverage moves while also being able to get off banded u-turns for pivots. The rest of the team is pretty much pokemon that help cover cinccino from getting hit by fighting type attacks. I know this week is nidoqueen which is why I made her my rocker as she adds a good bulk to the team while still being able to hit hard (especially steel types).

When talking about weaknesses to this team you mainly have 2:
- Crobat if you let thundurus-t get low
- The fact you are using a cinccino

Other than that the team is pretty cool in my opinion so feel free to fire this bad boy up and watch your GXE soar into the 6th layer of hell

Congrats to Totomon and thanks for the submissions! Next up, we have:

Cobalion has been done before for the teambuilding competition, but it is a very relevant Pokemon in the current metagame, so it deserves another round. Cobalion has a number of very useful traits in the current metagame, including outspeeding many common offensive threats, setting Stealth Rock, chipping U-Turn users with Rocky Helmet, maintaining momentum with Volt Switch, and providing a Dragon and Dark resist. Cobalion can also opt to become a significant offensive threat on its on with Swords Dance, notably being an offensive Pokemon that can set up on Scizor. Cobalion has its share of weaknesses, though. Its Special Defense leaves something to be desired, leaving it vulnerable to even resisted special attacks. Cobalion also has 4MSS, having a wide variety of moves it would like to run, but being too vital to certain roles to give up on its usual moves most of the time. Finally, Cobalion's base Attack is low without a boost, and can find itself offensively lacking without a Swords Dance boost. That said, there is a reason Cobalion is seeing so much use right now - let's build some teams to reflect that!

Teambuilding Restrictions:
  • The team should be built in the Sword and Shield UnderUsed format.
  • The team must include Cobalion.

:frosslass: :cobalion: :celesteela: :nihilego: :azumarill: :azelf:

this is a HO team that abuses spike stack to generate holes in the opposing team. Standard 4 pokemon on HO forming the double meteor beam core that can be used to generate holes and to finally the other meteor beam user can clean the game. Frosslass is the lead of choice as it can get spikes up, prevent hazards, turn it into a 5v5, or do a lot of damage with poltergeist. CObalion use on the team is dealing with many anti leads such as scizor, jirachi, scarf hydreigon, etc. It can put a lot of pressure on via SD threatening many deffogers who would take the opportunity to remove the hazards which give cobalion an opportunity to SD and break holes itself and force the deffogers out getting up hazards again

This team was designed to facilitate specs hydreigon while taking advantage of SD cobalion taking care of both chansey and scizor.

We have cobalion as our stealth rock setter and swords dance sweeper, and it acts as a reliable check to scizor, being able to shrug off all 3 of its main attacks, potentially gain a justified boost by switching into a knock off, and use sciz as set up fodder and then kill it with close combat. It also is a great check to zarude, and its base 108 speed is pretty good as well.

Excadrill is here as our hazard setter and is our best check to nihilego. Excadrill is one of the best if not the best hazard remover in UU, with good offensive and defensive utility, with it's steel and ground type combination being quite useful, and packing a threatening earthquake that even pokemon with levitate can't avoid. It's also good at spreading toxic.

Raikou is here as our speed control, possessing the coveted base 115+ speed tier, and also having reliable pivoting capability thanks to volt witch. It is great at removing bulky waters and flying types, on top of being able to spread burns with scald, and threatening weakened zarudes, hydreigons, and excadrills with aura sphere.

Hydreigon is here as an incredibly powerful special wallbreaker once all of its counters are dealt with, and this team already has the tools to remove both of the water fairies in the tier, togekiss, and chansey. Without those 4 pokemon, hydreigon can tear through most of the tier with its stabs, and can fry both steels and grasses with fire blast. Sleep talk allows it to act as a check to amoongus, and destroy it with either a specs boosted draco meteor or a specs boosted fire blast. Cobalion and Hydreigon pair together quite nicely, since one is good at removing the tier's special walls, while the other is great at removing the tier's physical walls.

Slowking is here to check both mamoswine and conkeldurr, which both destroy this team. Slowking has some of the best defensive utility in the tier, can spread burns with scald, and can use teleport to bring in the more offensive pokemon this team has to offer.

Tangrowth is here to act as a check to primarina, which is the bane of hydreigon's existence, and cobalion also isn't too fond of prim, acts as an amazing counter to zydog, and can even check azu in a pinch. Assault vest is used over rocky helmet here since cobalion already has a rocky helmet and we need a more specially defensive wall.

I feel that this team works very well when all of the pokemon are put together, and is relatively beginner friendly.
