UU -- Are we really using the best?

Armaldo is excellent. Pretty good typing (only two weaknesses, the same as Shuckle), access to Swords Dance and Rock Polish to boost up whatever you need, and the bulk to use them, and even the odd Rapid Spin if you're daring enough. I bet it would be used a lot more if RD teams weren't spammed as much.
 
Exploud is a BEAST! Dude with those stats it's made for mixed sweeping. All you need to do is pass a bit of speed to it, and it'll take down TONS of things!

Yeah I use Armaldo as a Rock Polisher, and it does clean up quite nicely on a lot of teams. It outspeeds SWELLOW after a Rock Polish for gosh sakes..

It's kinda too bad that the SD version gets revenge killed so easily (Omastar, for example)and that the rock polish variants have no chance (i think) to 2hko steelix, factoring leftovers.

Offensively: Rock and Ice.
Defensively: You're better knowing it's neutral to Water and Electric, immune to Poison and weak to Fire, Ground and Fight. Everything else is resisted.
 
I know what Steel resists defensively. I'm no idiot. The point I wanted to get across is that Steel type attacks are never used because of the number of types that resist Steel attacks, and that they are so rare that nobody bothers to look up what exactly does resist it.



And Armaldo will live anyways because of those pretty decent 75/100/85 defenses, and Special Defense can be boosted if Shuckle or similar sets up SS (which is admittedly rare, though I've seen SS UU teams twice).

Is the set I use. Works better in OU indefinatley. Better if saved till late game.

Alternatively, you could just use a Rock Polish + Sub/Liechi set with added protection of sub.
 
Exclamation 252 ev's in speed only getting to 189 speed (with out RP). This set is more defensive and for a good reason:

It has HP: 354 Def: 299 and SpDef: 284. He has respectible HP and Def's for a sweeper so why not use them to support you while your raising your stats. If you go with RP use Life Orb, you need the extra att. If you go with SD use leffties, you need the HP.
 
I love how you say this. I've always felt ad for poor castform, spinda, and whatnot, being excellent designs, ad getting left in the dust while crummy designs like Gengar get the glory.

The thing is, that it requirs work and lots of it. If the goal is to win, why not take the standard UU team and get all the pokemo in trade. Instead of waste time coming up and breeding your own pokemon, where you get the same result either way. A win.

Personally, I love UU and don't like pokemon like Weavile and Gengar, but the sad thing, is that its very hard to devote the time and effort to something that difficult. I do wish that people would try new things and experiment with all sorts of new pokemon. I know the topic is UU, but the sme thing is happening in every Tier.


My friend came up with a very good way to use perhaps one of the worst fully evolved pokemon: Spinda.

I can't come up with the full moveset, as he's never shown it to me, aside from a shoddy battle, so I'll try as best as I can.

Spinda@Choie Scarf
Jolly (just a guess)
252 Speed...whatever (another guess)
~Trick
~etc.
~etc.
~etc.

Sorry for the vagueness. I'll get it at one point But you get the point. Trick-da. A better Trick pokemon, would be rotom or Alakazam, but the fun part is seeing your opponents shock and then saying: "Hahaha. I totally fucked your best wall with Spinda!" Its spinda man! ha a purpose. OMFG!!!

The thing about something like Spinda using Trick is that if you're using something that crummy, the opponent is likely to suspect something like Trick. Of course, I forgot it could do that, but I digress...

I'm suprised that no one uses Switcheroo Persain though. Most people either switch in a sleep absorber or a sturdy defensive poke to switch into Fake Out, and tricking a Scarf onto guys like those seem pretty badass.

Getting the setup is not that easy, but it's a set that's fun to use.

then again, some people might just react with "WTF? IS this a joke? Oh well, its Spinda...Might as well kill it."

I doubt half the people on shoddy have ever battled against a Spinda, let alone even looked at it. Rotom's way better. I get it, but the (imaginable) look on someones face is totally worth it.

My friend has never failed in using it.
 
Spinda can work but anything that Spinda can do, other Pokemon can do better. That's why there's no reason to use him.
 
Pokemon that should be used more in UU:
Frosslass, I use a subpetaya on mine and no one expects sub and it covers so much in UU with tbolt(sometimes HP fighting) shadowball and ice beam.
Sandslash, what can I say? He's an awesome spinner and SR set up
Shiftry, I run a sunnysash on him, it sounds dumb but works incredibly
 
I saw great potential in

Noctowl
Xatu
defensive Kecleon
CB Blastoise o_O


Noctowl and Xatu are sturdier than they may look and can support the team well, while also having a nice recovery move ( Roost ).

the defensive Kecleon ( specialised in SpD ), with SR/TW/Filler/ Filler, works pretty well, crippling opponents kinda good.

I just tried CB Blastoise and with Aqua Jet.. it rocks O= it surprises most of your opponents, killing them =/

You're comparing apples and monkey nuts. One of them is good for eating, one of them is not. It's a logical fallacy.

Combee is a basic Pokemon, of which the females of the species evolve into a UU Pokemon. UUs tend to generally be underpowered in OU in the first place, and Vespiquen is not a remarkable Pokemon. The NFE, Combee, will most likely do far worse than Vespiquen because of its lower base stats, among other reasons. The NFE Combee's base stats are also lower in almost every category spare speed than that of Spinda.

Spinda is a Fully-Evolved Pokemon, and it's stats are generally better in every category. You can't compare the two, particularly because the mentioned Combee would be playing in a tier outside of even it's fully-evolved form, while Spinda is a UU Pokemon.

Both Combee and Spinda are among the weakest and rarely seen pokemon in competitive play, which was the point he was referring to.

Combee lead is awesome by the way. <:^V
