VGC 2011 rules up!

The Isshu only rule is silly if it applies to qualifier tournaments outside of Japan - Japan may have had Black and White for a while now, but the rest of the world will have only JUST gotten the games by the time the tournament comes around...

I walked into a GameStop the other day and looked through the game book. It said that BW would be released n April (can't remember whether it's at the beginning or the end)...and last year (or should I say the 2010) qualifier rounds occurred in May and June. I guess you better plan your team right now and be ready to build it as soon as it comes out...

IIRC it releases either in March or in January.

D/P, Plat, and HG/SS have all had spring releases in the US. It doesn't really matter either way, you can use pokemon from, say, a Japanese game (though they have to be on an English/French/Spanish/whatever cart.)

I cant wait I have a submersion team that is just vicious :)

now with explosion being nerfed i can toxic stall if i please

Why let Erufuun get shut down by taunt when you can taunt before?

An earlier strategy I used with Zeburaika seems perfecly viable in this(looking at the speedtierlist), can't wait till I get a temporarly team done.

Gigear with prevostone should be decently bulky and useful in rain.

Too bad theres no way to use submersion shedinja in this XD

Voltolos has MH and learns Taunt and is normally faster than Erufuun because most people don't give Erufuun any speed.

this is starting to adapt a "standard set" style like in most TCG's. Less repetition.

I'm not sure how I feel about ONLY Isshu pokemon, hopefully it brings some interesting things to the table. It'll limit the battle field, that's for sure. Less creativity? Yes. Easier to strategize? Yes. Not sure if it's worth it here.

done a couple battles on PO with this metagame and it is WAYYYYYY better than last years! now people are actually using their brains to make teams not just slap a kyogre palkia rain team together. I predict the people that do well will be the people who think outside the box and use teams noone would expect. unpredictability is more important long story short.

Yeah but not all of us know Japanese or want to play BW with a dictionary and/or blindly. ;_;

Well I am damn happy that I bought a copy of Black while I was in Japan. I suppose I should get started right now.

..... any ideas? xD

You won't, it's not in the Isshu dex.
Oh god sorry man I lol'd really hard then!

That was the entire point of what dear Andy lad was saying!

Additionally yeah the genie guys are looking overpowered so far and Erufuun definitely isn't any good. Completely overrated Poké imo; it very rarely actually does anything to me when I fight them and goes down easily having done no damage- something of a burden to have out on your side of the field.

I don't understand why some of you guys are complaining...I'm just happy it's not a triple battle format Lol.

Same here, this is actually a big relief. It cuts down on a lot of "cheap" combos, and things like Smeargle. I think it eliminates the need to HAVE to carry a certain counter.

In fact, I think that by the time the VGC rolls around, Fake Out won't see much use, if any.

And since B/W was meant to be a kind of re-boot for the series, I think these rules make perfect sense.

I really want to get a copy of BW...it'll really suck to breed stuff within the span of 2 months, compared to Japan having how much time? Not to mention I totally don't trust PO for any comprehensive testing (though that's just me).

You can at least breed males with moves you want to breed over in the meantime, assuming egg moves from older Pokemon aren't banned.

Yeah, but still kinda annoying Japan has all the time in the world to prepare...that and come to think of it, I don't have $60+ for a copy atm, and I don't know shit about Japanese to play through the game anyways XD

Just in case $60 pops up, I thought I should let you know that it's actually very easy to play the game if you don't know any Japanese. I don't know didly squat and I'm fine. You can tell what moves are by base power/type, and the moves are outlined in the color of the type they are so you know what you're using.

In that case, I may reconsider XD

Now it's just a matter of finding one that sells an actual one and not some bootleg...shame that means Ebay is about worthless.

I got my copy of Japanese Diamond on Ebay for like $44 counting shipping... You just have to know which sellers to trust (hint: the ones with a million positive rep are usually good).
