Due to it's 4x SR weakness, can't it be a good sub-salac abuser?
Has anyone tried phazing Ulgamoth with any success?
I keep on seeing this thing on every team and I came to see why. It gets destroyed as a lead thanks to Trick and when it switches in it loses 50% of its health, letting my Bullet Punching Scizor take it down in one hit.
My Life Orbed +2 Bullet Punching Scizor has killed this thing 100% of the time after its taken SR damage.

I haven't used this pokemon myself, but I am underwhelmed by it on opposing teams. Using it as a lead is hilarious, as I run a MH taunt lead.
Um, who?
Cause if I lead with Ulgamoth against say, Erufuun... I would just kill it with fire, fuck the BD.
Tornelos or Voltolos would be a different story but for some reason I hear far more chatter about Eru than either of those two.
Voltolos is much more common as a lead than Erufuun, and much better too. Erufuun sucks as a lead actually in my experience, just attack the dang thing. Actually, Erufuun has been pretty underwhelming overall against me compared to the hype about it.
Also, I have no idea why anyone is running an Ulgamoth lead. You don't try to sweep from the very first turn... As for Ulgamoth in general, I haven't used it myself, but it's never been a problem for my team really, thanks to Burungeru. The worst part is how predictable people are with it however. Every single time someone sends it out, they use Butterfly Dance immediately. They'll usually come in on Nattorei, so I usually just T-wave them as they try to set up.
A ragequit typically follows.

Excuse the double post but....
I'm finding that running Ulgamoth with a very defensive spread (252/252 HP/Def) with only a nature boost to its SpA to be very effective, the bulk it grants is often enough to get off at least 2 BDs, after which the lack of investment in its offenses becomes pretty much moot.
I highly advise people to try this as opposed to more standard offensive spreads, as it catches the opponent by surprise and leads to a clean sweep much more often, in my experience anyway.
That spread seems very promising, and I know some others who have used it to suprising success as well, but isn't it a bit difficult with a 4x rock weakness? Stone Edge/Rock Slide are quite common, and even with the defensive investement I don't see Ulgamoth surviving a Stone Edge encounter unless you're faster and can OHKO before being hit...
I'd never keep him in on something that had SE or RS... I mean yeah they're common I guess but pretty predictable.
Right now I'm running him on a Drought Ninetales team, with Starmie and Doryuuzu both as offensive rapid spinners (and to take advantage of Rain/Sand respectively, if they show up). I have SB Blaziken and Chlorophyll Tangrowth w/ leech seed to soften up the opponents team for me, after which I bring in Ulgamoth, provided I've cleared all the entry hazards and the sun is still strong. I sweep about 50% of the time which is pretty sweet considering that, well, I'm not THAT experienced compared to many (I'm not a n00b but I don't play often... at all). In one match I was taunted, but I managed to sweep just from Fire Dance boosts.
I admit I hyped it before I used it, not knowing how much or how little SR and such would hinder it. From my experience Ulgamoth has an entirely different "feel" to it than any other SR weak pokemon. ITS WELL WORTH THE TROUBLE OF HIRING RAPID SPINNERS AND KEEPING ROCKS OFF THE FIELD. I think most people don't use 4x SR weak pokes because while good, none of them are absolutely out-fucking-standing. None of them really motivate you to incorporate spinners and such into your team. This one does. If rocks didn't exist I can say with some confidence that this thing would be banned from OU. (last gen's OU, I guess).
