Weavile

I've heard using acrobat with a flying jewel gives acrobat double damage (plus jewel bonus) the turn it's used, so this could work similarly.

Is pursuit a contact move by the way?

Ice Shard (despite being a physical move) isn't a contact move. (Similar to other physical moves like Earthquake which isn't a contact move)

Wicked Thief - Normal Gem + Fake Out? Lets you get a slightly stronger Fake Out, and since it is consumed before damage is dealt (i.e. before contact), Wicked Thief should activate and let you steal opponent's item. Very handy in the lead situation imo. That is if Wicked Thief actually works on your contact moves and not the opponent's.

Great idea, though I think a dark or ice gem could work as well for better use outside the lead position. Shiftry is also able to do this, and may have some use with a drought user in doubles.

I think that logically, wicked thief sounds like it would work if the user comes into contact with the opponent, whether by their attack or the opponents. But of course, we all know the relationship between Game Freak and Logic, as evidenced by the fact that Trickery was practically made to be Weavile's signature move, and it doesn't even get it... Luckily, it seems unreliable enough that Night Slash would be better anyway, but still...and yes Technician would be much better suited to Weavile than crap like Kricketune. Actually, I just realized that Weavile doesn't even get Sucker Punch, which is also a perfect fit for it. :/

Honestly. Troll Freak. You think it's reasonable and logical enough to give Roserade, Mr. Mime, and, shit, Kricketune, Technician, but leave out our resident bandit-ninja-thing Weavile? It makes some sense on Breloom, being some kind of weird boxing kangaroo/chicken/mushroom hybrid. But to exclude Weavile from an ability that apparently emphasizes technical skills and being resourceful? End rant.

Has anyone thought of how effective Icicle Drop might have been on Weavile? You lose Ice Shard's priority, but gain 5 more power over Ice Punch and a small flinch chance.

Weavile doesn't get Icicle Drop, unfortunately. It's a very nice boost for Mamoswine though, one of the few good Ice Types that actually got some nice buffs this gen.

One of the things I loved most about the Mence-less metagame of HG/SS OU was that Weavile could finally stop clinging on to Ice Shard for dear life and show off a little muscle with Ice Punch. You'd be surprised at how many Zapdos/Gliscor/Shaymin/Celebi I could now just switch in on and KO because people think all I have is that weak ass Ice Shard or Weavile isn't strong enough to do it. Wrong on both accounts.

Since Dragons and Ghosts are still around, so is Weavile. Unfortunately, it now has to tread more carefully than ever with both Scizor and the absolute abundance of Mach Punch. If by any chance it doesn't make the cut to OU, I can't even imagine what UU could possibly do to stop it (but knowing the UU playerbase as it is now, they'll just pull arguments out the wazoo and say it's fine, like the Heracross meta).
Heracross is just to slow to do crap, and dugtrio always kills it. More than you could argue for salamence. (And you can easily tell the sets apart because of toxic/flame orb) Can weavile even break milotic anyway?

It can shut it down with Taunt and spam Night Slash until it gets a crit I guess. Weavile has decentish SpD, so it can take a Surf (although Boiling Water's burn rate is annoying).

Ah, one of my favorites since the first time I saw this sumbitch. The new ability is great for the lead sets, being able to steal an opposing Sash & then Counter in their face.

You have the wrong idea about Get Even (Vengeance); the power increase kicks in the turn AFTER one of its teammates gets KO'd - which means it's actually pretty damn good on a mon with revenge killing on its mind.

If you ask me, Ice Punch is equally as good. It might not deal as much damage, or flinch the opponent, but it's more accurate and can freeze with a minor difference in damage.

If one opts to use SDWeavile, Ice Shard or Ice Punch?

If you're going for Night Slash and a fighting move, Ice Shard should prove more useful as its ice attacks are mainly used for dragons, and the priority is just good against scarfed dragons. Or anything scarfed for that matter.
In the end, neither of them are a wrong choice, but I'd use Ice Shard because Flygon is so hard to kill with its hit-and-run tactics.

AgiliVile would have various issues.

-It's too fast to benefit from agility.
-Its defenses are too low to run a bulkier spread with just enough speed to outrun most scarfers. Priority still kills it, even with max HP.
-Despite its very good 120 attack stat, it lacks the powerful moves to use its attack stat unboosted outside of a revenge killer position.

Swords Dance Weavile will always be superior in the setting up department, as swords dance allows it to use its relatively weak attacks with its nice attack stat.

Hits like a baby at 120 base Attack? I'm not sure I understand.

I wouldn't waste a slot on Agility, though.
It's all in the attacks, its strongest moves are Night Slash and Ice Punch which are at 70 and 75 BP. So despite its nice attack, it won't hit that hard.

Not sure if you had info about it, but... Wicked Thief only works when WEAVILE IS HIT by a phisical move, so I can't think about any possible scenario for the ice rabbit of using it effectively, specially with its sub par defence stat and no focus sash (since with an held item it won't work)... I tested it myself today and I've it recorded :/

Well if that's the case then that pretty much kills any reason to not just use the old sets. = /

weavile cant even ohko onono and sazan even after sr with shard making him hard to use to revenge them unless theyre weakened(especially important on sazan)
also low kick with thief isnt illegal since you can breed DW ability.
in a hail team paired with kyuremu they could make a huge damage (maybe)

That sux! Oh troll freak, do you hate weavile? You get its hopes up with a great ability.... only to kill it in the end by making such a crap ability. I've seen on multiple sites too that there's only a 30% chance of the item actually being stolen. Someone care to quote me on this?

if there is also this other handicap... well that ability really sucks <.<
I can't say it's true though, for me it worked at the first hit it took.

yes, I used fake out and I've hit the opponent with something like... 3 ice punches? nothing happened, just when I got hit weavile's ability triggered
