What's your lead?

On my regular team I have a standard timid gengar with a focus sash.

On my ice team, I have this:

Cloyster @ Leftovers
Relaxed 252 HP/ 80 def/178 sp def
Shell Armor

Explosion
Rapid Spin
Toxic Spikes
Surf

Sets up toxic spikes, spins the common SR leads, and explodes.

I lead with Stealth Rock Hippowdon. It eliminates the threat of a Bellyzard. I'm considering changing it to Forretress to put those Toxic Spikes down, especially since so many leads have Ice but few have Fire, but then I'm open for a Bellyzard sweep if I'm not careful (well, a few kills).

Max Attack Bronzong with Trick Room. Gyro Ball bloody hurts all those fast leads and even does 57% ish to Garchomp.

That and Choice Scarf Breloom, which doesn't work as well as it should given it can't beat Jolly Weavile.

Mamoswine @ Choice Band
Adamant
Snow Cloak
~ Ice Shard
~ Earthquake
~ Stone Edge
~ Avalanche

Utterly destroys nearly every starting strategy. Weavile can't KO it and gets owned by EQ. TTar dies to EQ, Swampert is comfortably 2HKOd. No HP/Def Breloom is wasted. Ninjask can't do a damn thing. Sceptile, Salamence, Garchomp, and Roserade also get wasted. Groos gets owned by EQ. Gyara gets moved into the killing range of most things with Stone Edge. CB Mamoswine is easily the most effective lead I have ever had.

Laugh all you want:

Ambipom, Jolly, Technition
Focus Sash

Shadow Claw
U turn
Fake out
Return

This thing kills alot of the common starters, if not he turns tail with U-turn. Makes Scarfcham/cross it's girlfriend as long as focus sash is still on the table. It rapes weavile, cept when weavile is packing ice shard...even then, still does alot of damage to it. This guy I have seen take out 4/6 pokemon as starter and revenge killer.

My lead depends on what team I'm using. My two most sucessful teams lead with FP/Sub/Seed Bomb/Spore Breloom and DD/Crunch/EQ/Taunt TTar. I just love Breloom, easy set up with Spore, Subpunch hurts, and Toxic Orb+Poison Heal is just awsome. DDTar sets up sandstorm, stops Bronzong and stealth rockers with Taunt, and scares away Gyarados and Zapdos.

That and Choice Scarf Breloom, which doesn't work as well as it should given it can't beat Jolly Weavile.
You could just run jolly yourself or you could use mach punch if you dislike weavile that much. Unless it has ice shard, but most don't carry shard.

As MoP said, it really depends on the team. Hippowdon and Swampert have been really good for me lately though.

i tried jolteon for a while, it works out decently. tbolt/hp ice/sub/bp set, actually took an ice punch from weavile because i was unprepared for it, i was quite surprised it survived.

i also love cb mamoswine, except gengar with energy ball takes it down and ice shard fails to OHKO.

It can't beat Weavile but it can switch out and let something else handle it. I normally run Spore/Sky Uppercut/Seed Bomb[Thunderpunch/Stone Edge] for dragon-slaying so Mach Punch doesn't get a look in.

A few months back Yanmega leads were popular, which screwed up my leads every time.

Mamoswine @ Choice Band
Adamant

~ Avalanche

^ Great Lead, I must agree ^

I'm currently testing this:

Magmortar @ Expert Belt
Hasty Nature (+Spd, -Def)
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
- Lava Plume
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Thunderbolt
- Earthquake

It outspeeds and OHKO's the most common (slow) starters
It survives the fast ones and OHKO's them.
It survives a Scarf Flash Fired Heatran FBlast and KO's back (In case you boost him)
Lava Plume's burn rate is great against the common switch-ins.
Only has problem with Salamence and the rare Garchomp leads.
and probably this set's best thing: It pretty much insta-counters Hail Teams.

So far, the results are good, most players don't have a clue what to expect from Morty and well... they die.
The best outcome I've had with him is a 6:3 advantage vs a hail team (first 3 turns lol)

So yeah, good lead IMO.

Choice scarfed typhlosion with Eruption and HP Ice for the win =). I've found it very effective. I also like aerodactyl and weavile as leads.

Team Edgeworth runs a Yanmega, but since his team isn't anywhere near done, I'm borrowing the bug. :)

Yanmega @ Wise Glasses
Speed Boost
(this site's EVs, I forgot them)
-Protect
-Bug Buzz
-Air Slash
-HP...Water!?

Yeah, the poor thing doesn't have HP Ice, which completely screws over Yanmega in some situations, but it works most of the time. Protect, get a Speed Boost, and sweep away.

I usually lead with either Sub passing Jolteon (Baton passing subs from 394 speed is quite useful) or something random with a Choice Scarf.

azelf@choice scarf
232Atk/152Spd/124SpcA Naive nature
U turn
explosion
flamethrower
grass knot

152 speed allows it to outrun any garchomp or salamence after a dragon dance and promptly explode it back to hell

this is is seriously deadly OHKOs most swamperts and does over 54% to bronzongs. explosion is obviously there for late game to kamikaze and it kills anything short of gengar

the thing that makes it own so much is the choice scarf, no one expects it, and it always goes first kills yanmegas and ninjasks, but its greatest strength is in weavile taking down.

Uturn, when it hangs on with focis sash i switch to a CBgross, and bullet punch takes care of that.

problems with gyarados however (explosion can deal with that ;))

This is only used on my fun team, but my favorite lead by FAR is:

Breloom@Toxic Orb
Jolly
252 Atk, 252 Spd, 4 HP
Poison Heal
-Substitute
-Spore
-Focus Punch
-Seed Bomb

Standard, but it really ruins people not expecting it. Plus, as long as (newbs mainly) keep the sleeping pokemon in, Breloom will continue to kill until the sleeping pokemon is switched. Even if they do switch though, nothing likes eating a STAB'd Focus Punch to the face. Only problem is faster leads.

hariyama @leftovers
thick fat
(standard ev's)
-knock off
-force palm
-stone edge
-counter

I usually choose either knock off or counter, depending on my opponent's starter. Force palm for the paralysis and for blissey (for which hariyama makes an excellent counter). Thick fat helps against weavile leads and random ice beams/ fire blasts.

Roserade @ sash
timid 252/252/4
sludge bomb
leaf storm
leech seed
sleep powder

needs more use imo

SS team- hippowdon impish 252 hp def, 4 att
ice fang
sr
slack off
eq

I'm currently running this as my lead:

Lucario @ Life Orb(Might change to Focus Sash)
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 78 Atk/252 Spd/176 Sp. Atk
Naive nature (+Spd, -Sp. Def)
- Close Combat
- Vacuum Wave
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Dark Pulse

Works decently enough. I might use Swampert as a lead instead, though.

I previously ran:

Timid Jolteon @ Choice Specs with
Volt Absorb
4hp/252spatk/252spd
-T-Bolt
-HP Ice
-Shadow Ball
-Baton Pass

which packed surprising punch :D

Why on earth do you have baton pass? When is baton pass better than just swapping? You have nothing to pass...

Why on earth do you have baton pass? When is baton pass better than just swapping? You have nothing to pass...

Well, if you expect that they're going to switch to a Jolt counter, BPing allows you to scout for them first, because switching goes before BP.

After all, it's not as if Jolt's got much else he could use anyway, what with that typical tiny Eeveelution movepool...

That's the best I could think of, anyway.
