wii game recommendations?

-Sonic Colors (yes its actually good)
-No More Heroes 1 and 2
-Oboro Muramasa / Muramasa: The Demon Blade
-Monster Hunter 3 (gave me roughly 300 hours of gameplay, and I didn't even "finish")

Red Steel 2, it should be pretty cheap right now and it's a lot of fun while it lasts. You might look a little ridiculous in front of your tv, but hacking and slashing actually works and the game has a nice own style too.

Another advantage of this game is that it comes with a Wii Motion Plus. I never finished it, but my brother says that its great.

samurai warriors three is pretty awesome until you do about 20 storylines. But its exciting until then really!
If you get CoD on wii please tell me!

I would highly recommend Monster Hunter Tri. It's an incredible RPG with a lot of depth, and it'll definitely keep you occupied for hours on end. The single player mode is very challenging, with intensely difficult bosses and stuff. There is a fun local multiplayer mode which allows you to face off against the bosses you battled in the single player mode. The online multiplayer mode is fantastic; you basically do the quests you did in single player mode, except with an increased difficulty and with other people with you. You can use Wii Speak and even a USB keyboard for communication, as communicating with your fellow hunters is vital to completing the online quests.

I would also recommend Metroid Prime Trilogy. It has Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2, and Metroid Prime 3 all in one, and all three of those games are very challenging and fun. It also has the local multiplayer mode that came with Metroid Prime 2, and that's really nice as well.

Super Paper Mario is a nice game as well. It's humorous and can actually get pretty challenging at certain parts. It's a good game overall.

Monster Hunter Tri is good. De Blob is also a fun game (think Epic Mickey combined with Sonic the Hedgehog). For Wii-ware, get Pulseman (made by Game Freak, if you don't know who they are, then get the **** out now). Also, if you don't have Super Smash Bros Brawl, you're missing out. Pikmin got re-made for Wii, so if you don't have it for Gamecube, it's worth picking up. Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess are good, but you'll need a lot of time on your hands to play them. Epic Mickey is good, but repetitive at some points. Spiderman Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time are decent.

Super Paper Mario takes a lot of crap from people that hate it, but I've heard a lot of good things about it. You love it or hate it, I guess. Personally, I loved it. Sonic and the Secret Rings is ok, but not as good as Sonic Colors. Super Mario Galaxy (1 and 2) are great. Fire Emblem Radient Dawn is good as well. If you can find it cheap (I found it for $10 like-new, but I got lucky:) Metriod Prime Trilogy.

If you like simpler games, then try Lego Star Wars: the Complete Saga. Out of the floods of party games out there, pick up one of the Raving Rabbids games. I've played Drawn to Life: the Next Chapter for DS, but I don't own it for Wii. The DS version is good, but I heard that the Wii version has a more child-friendly ending (but it's non-canon).

If you're looking for online, then I'd recommend Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, Monster Hunter Trii, and Goldeneye 007.

To be honest, it's hard to list a game that hasn't been said already.

Super Paper Mario takes a lot of hate comments because people are upset that it doesn't have that turn-by-turn battle style.

Side note from that:You should get one of the No More Heroes series or you can try Goldeneye 007 which was REALLY fun back in the N64 days, it should be even better.

right goldeneye, one of my friends was literally devoured by that game and it consumes his entire life (you heard me right, literally) (it's up to you to decide whether that's a good reason to buy or not)

So I realize this is only going to apply to like .01% of smogoners butt...

Holy geez. If any of you have a toddler/young girl, or if you have a little sister, or a little girl cousin that you need to buy a birthday present for GET THIS GAME FOR THEM! I realize that no macho gamer would ever imagine buying this, but the other day I was in gamestop for some 3DS screen covers (no really) and my daughter grabbed this big plush doll in a cradle (no really i swear) and she wouldn't let it go and it was only $9 (i'm totally not lying she wanted it not me). I didn't think she really wanted it at first. I thought she was just being a brat and grabbing stuff, but seeing as she literally would not let go of it I took a closer look at it. I noticed it was only $9 and I was like, you know, whatever it's just $9 for a doll. I didn't even realize it was a wii game until I took the doll out of the crib and noticed that it had a game packaged inside. She's absolutely loved it so far. You put the wiimote down the baby's back and plug the nunchuck into it. It's like a cyborgbabby. Its a series of instructional minigames that teaches young kids how to handle babies and what kind of things you have to do for babies. You change their diapers and play games with them and feed them etc, etc, etc. If you ever shake the baby doll it'll stop the game and the Mama will come out and go "NO NO NO! YOU A NEVER SHAKE A BABY BE CAREFUR!"

Especially seeing as she'll have a baby brother here in a few weeks this turned out to be a ridiculously good buy!

no I'm not a pedo

Mattj, I was gonna say you were until I read the last sentence. Anyway, I think Mortal Kombat Armageddon is a good game if you don't have any other systems (like me). Seriously though, it's pretty fun to beat the shit out of other people and not get charged with assault.

lol mattj youre fucking weird

anyway thanks for all the recommendations guys, i'll buy some games in the next few days. i really appreciate everyone's suggestions!

Super Paper Mario was okay. But yeah, everyone wanted it to be the same style as the previous two games... The Thousand Year Door on Gamecube is one of my all-time favourite games, so I'm glad to see the 3DS version will revert to the turn-based RPG genre and not a Platformer. Making Paper Mario a Platformer was a huge mistake IMO because we already have plenty of Mario games in that genre. Paper Mario was more niché so I, and most other fans wanted it to stay like that. However, I wouldn't say it's a bad game - lots of people probably enjoyed it a lot and I can't say I hated it.

Looking through my collection of Wii games, I don't really have much that's obscure. I know you've likely got most of these but I'll mention them for the sake of it anyway:

Monster Hunter Tri (Played with Dan Dan a lot, amazing game)
Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2
Donkey Kong Country Returns
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Mario Kart Wii
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City

But as for some obscure games, I would suggest these. I must admit though, some of them I haven't even played, but I am interested in getting. I just can't afford to blow money on games when I have more important things to buy and might not even get the time to play them:

Xenoblade Chronicles - I want this. I missed the fucking sale at the game stores in the UK as well, you could get it for £10 with the Red Classic Controller but it's out of stock everywhere now. I think it's going to see a US release - but I haven't heard for definite yet. If it comes out where you live, buy it.

Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles & Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles - If you liked games like House of the Dead in the Arcades, then you'll enjoy these. Getting headshots on zombies is just such a satisfying feeling. The graphics are really good and they both play really well and can get challenging. I'd say Umbrella is better than Darkside gameplay-wise, however. Speaking of House of the Dead by the way, there's a few versions of that on the Wii which are mega fun and probably super cheap. Might be worth a punt, I have House of the Dead 2 & 3 Returns for Wii and it was a lot of fun. The other is House of the Dead Overkill which I wanted, but never got.

Wario Ware: Smooth Moves - This is a fun 'party' style game, especially after a few drinks. It's short and a lot of the early stages are easy, but it'll be dirt cheap now so it's well worth the money.

Rayman Origins - This game just looks so beautiful and due to what I'm guessing is poor sales, it's mega cheap now as well. If I'm honest, my main reason for not buying this is because I want more games for my 3DS and I know it's going to see a release for that. Otherwise, I'd have snapped it up already.

Kirby's Epic Yarn - I think I'm at a similar boat with this game to Rayman. It's 'cheap enough' now, but I still don't want to pay that much for it because I'm cheap myself, but may have to as this isn't seeing a 3DS release. I've heard this game is miles too easy though and it's impossible to 'die' but I don't know how true that is. It just looks so nice and fun.

I've heard goo things about Sin & Punishment, Zak and Wiki, No More Heroes, MadWorld, and a few others. But I don't know as much about them as I haven't looked into buying them.

The only other thing I can suggest is looking around the WiiWare / Wii Shop thing to see what games are up for download. I'm sure there are some amazing games that will still hold up despite their age.

You should let us know what games you end up buying! It'd be fun to have some resolution.

Let's just get the Super Paper Mario deal out of the way:

About it: Super Paper Mario is part of the Paper Mario series, but plays unlike the others. Unlike the other ones, this installment of the series breaks away from the traditional RPG mechanics and blends some aspects with platforming (of which the Mario franchise has had MUCH experience with). The game does not include as many special abilities found in the other ones, the RPG elements come in when a character gains experience and levels up, enhancing basic features such as health and character attack strength. Enemy health is also kept, and your character's "attack" will determine how much damage the enemy takes when jumped on, flamed with Bowser, etc. Along the way, you will encounter "Pixi's", fairies that let you use special abilities (some found in the older games, such as the ability to flip sideways to slim yourself), but only one Pixi can be used at a time (with the exception of Tipi, the player's guide, who is mostly present during the game). Four characters are playable (Mario, Peach, Bowser, and Luigi, who isn't playable until near the end). The levels consist of Flipside and Flopside, and 8 worlds with 4 sub-levels each (labeled 1-1, 1-2, etc). The game is also noted for Mario's "flip" ability, which allows him to turn himself, and the perspective, sideways. This allows new paths to be discovered, and hidden goodies.

Pros: New play mechanics and platforming-orgasming (I don't care if that's not a word). Mini-games and multiple characters can "shake things up". As well as hilarious dialogue (select Peach before the boss fight in Fort Francis), the game-play is addicting with good interaction and control (such as activating items, which usually activate in a manner similar to the Thousand Year Door). Four characters can allow levels to be traversed in multiple styles (jumping over everything with Mario, or destroying everything in your path with Bowser, for instance).

Cons: The story is child-friendly and mediocre at some parts. The altered play-mechanics do not appeal to some fans of the previous games. Some parts of the game get increasingly frustrating, and the Pixi system allows only one special power at a time, your hammer being one. The main story will revolve a lot around Mario, so if he isn't your favorite character, you're out of luck. The enemies are also unbalanced (the ranged ones will harass you to no end in the Pit of 100 Trials).

Whether this sounds like an enjoyable game to you is your decision, I'm not here to make it for you. (Did I miss anything?)
