In the fifth and final round of Bean’s Dilemma, Team Viridian has won the round and have achieved the 3-point win condition. Therefore, we congratulate MrJelli, Faisal and 11oyd on a victory well-earned.
Each player on the said team had exactly zero beans left, meaning each and every one of them have received Tokens of Life. Unfortunately, due to this, they have also received zero garnets for winning.

The person who has the least beans leftover in the third place team will be the Elimination Candidate. As two teams were tied for third, and both duck and Ivy had the least amount of beans, the winners of this game - MrJelli, Faisal, and 11oyd - will select one of those two as the Elimination Candidate.

I would also like to thank all of you for being wonderful participants.

MrJelli (Token of Life)
Faisal (Token of Life)
11oyd (Token of Life)

Clefable
Ivy
Dot Agumon
Ransei

Gotta quickly make a correction to the above post.
Both team Violet and team Vermillion submitted the same amount of beans total, however duck had the least amount of beans remaining, and is therefore the elimination candidate. Duck, Please select an opponent for the next deathmatch which will be revealed soon

Death Match - Apocalypse

In Apocalypse, both players will simultaneously submit moves in an attempt to capture all of the opponent’s pawns. This game will be played over Google Sheets thanks to the generous work of PeckInkay.

Apocalypse is played on a 5x5 grid, set up as below. Each player starts the game with two knights and five pawns, which each move as they do in chess; a knight moves one space forwards, backwards, or sideways (not diagonally) then two spaces in a perpendicular direction, and a pawn moves one space forward. A knight can jump over other pieces (yours or your opponent’s) during its movement. Furthermore, unlike in normal chess, pawns cannot move two squares on their first move. However, pawns still only capture by moving one square diagonally forwards. (Note that in this context, “forward” refers to the direction of movement for each player, thus left for the white player and right for the black player.)

ApocalypseBoard

Instead of taking turns making your moves, each player’s moves will be made simultaneously. During a turn, each player will submit their move to the hosts, supplying the starting and ending coordinates of the piece you wish to move. Then, each player’s move will be revealed publicly and executed simultaneously. The following rules apply:

1. If the movement and capture actions can be performed together, without conflict, they are executed.

2. If the movements end up at the same location, then there are two cases. If two knights or two pawns land on the same space, they will both be taken out of the game. Alternatively, if a knight and a pawn land on the same space, then the knight will capture the pawn.

3. If one movement ends up on a location occupied by the opponent’s piece, the latter is captured and removed from play, except if this piece has received a movement order, where the movement is executed without capture.

4. If you declare a capture with your pawn by moving it one square diagonally forward, but the piece to be captured is moved from its square, the pawn’s move still stands. (In other words, the move converts to a diagonal step instead of a capture.)

5. If two pieces have been ordered to capture one another, the players simply exchange the pieces’ locations.

6. If your pawn moves onto the last row (i.e., the opponent’s line), it will be promoted into a knight if you have less than two knights. If you already have two knights, then you must move the pawn and drop it onto any empty square.

7. If a declared move is illegal, you will earn one penalty point.

8. Players are not allowed to pass their turn.

When one player has no pawns remaining, the game is over and that player is declared the loser. If both players lose their last pawn at the same time, or if neither player has any valid moves, the game is a draw. In addition, accumulating two penalty points will forfeit the game in favor of your opponent. The winner will advance to the next round, whereas the loser will be the sixth person eliminated from The Genius.

Main Match 8 is titled Garnet Thief.

Tagging all players: 11oyd, Clefable, Dot Agumon, Faisal, Ivy, MrJelli, Ransei, Yoshi

Though the title of this Main Match might imply your precious, precious garnets might be stolen, this is not the case. This game was played in Season 4, where several games distributed, in the duration of the game, an absurd number of garnets and the winning and losing positions went to the players who ended the games with the most garnets and the least garnets (no matter how many you came into the round with). We will not be adopting this mechanic. However, we are using one of the games that did, with some adaptations. The name Garnet Thief is a leftover from it.

This game takes place over four rounds each lasting 24 hours. You will choose one of the following roles: Mafia, Cartel, Police, or Beggar in your confessional PM. You may publicly or privately disclose what your role is; you don’t have to tell the truth, obviously. At the end of each round, four points will be distributed to players based on how people chose their roles. You do not have to choose the same role every round.

Here is how distribution of points works:
  • Between the two criminal organizations (Mafia or Cartel), the one with more members choosing it will have four points distributed equally between the members, rounded down. If there are remainders after the distribution, all the remainders are equally distributed between the Beggars.
  • If Mafia and Cartel have an equal number of members choosing it, the four points are distributed equally among the Police, rounded down. Again, all the remainders are equally distributed between the Beggars.
Between Round 2 and Round 3, you may transfer 1 point publicly to another player. You must post in the main thread for the point transfer to be public, and the other player must accept it. You may only give to another player or accept from another player a total of one point (so if you give one point away, your recipient can’t give a point away; if you accept a point from someone else, you can’t give away your point to to another player).

At the end of each round, the distribution of the points will be announced, with point winners being publicly announced by name.

The player or players who have the largest point total at the end of Round 4 win and obtain a Token of Life. A single winner will be given an additional Token of Life to give away while multiple winners will each be given one for themselves only (as usual). A sole winner will obtain four garnets; multiple winners will obtain two garnets; but for every 2 points, you’ll obtain one more garnet win or lose.

The player with the lowest number of points will be the Elimination Candidate. In the case of a tie between players with the lowest number of points, the winner or winners will select among them who will be the Elimination Candidate. The EC will choose a player lacking a Token of Life to join in the Death Match, and the loser of the Death Match will be seventh player eliminated.

Round 1, which lasts 24 hours, will begin on Sunday, February 16 at 4 PM EST. Use the time between now and then to communicate with other players and develop strategies.

Round 4, the final round, has been compiled.

11oyd, Clefable and MrJelli have gained a point.

This means the winner is MrJelli, who receives a Token of Life, and may also give a Token of Life to any player of their choosing. They will do this before...

MrJelli must also choose out of all of the Elimination Candidates, being Clefable, Dot Agumon , Faisal, or Ivy. Please submit one of your choosing to your confessional.

This concludes The Garnet Thief. Garnet count will be posted shortly.
