Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Does anyone pay attention to the lore of the cards on yugioh wikipedia? I find it very interesting!
The new Gravekeeper monsters are meant to be Ishizu, Marik, Odion, and Mr. Ishtar. Warrior Dai Grepher becomes Dark Lucius after having multiple fights with D.D. Warrior Lady. The "special person" that Gagagigo meets happens to be Maurauding Captain.
There is a few story arcs with Warrior of Zera depending on the decisions he makes, referencing if he goes to Pandeonium or The Sanctuary of the Sky.
Overall, I found the Six Samurai lore to be the most interesting. Kizan is a young Grandmaster, Mizuho is a young Hand of the Six Samurai, Kageki is Chamberlain of the Six Samurai, Enishii is Enishi before the Shien made him Chancellor, and Shinai is the Spirit of the Six Samurai before he died faithfully protecting Mizuho.
Tenkiabeto Shien also happens to be Shi En with his helmet off riding the Legendary Ebon Steed, and Shien is Shi En when he finally becomes Shogun.
On the topic of Kristya, I found out it can, at times, be more of a hinderance than an asset. Just yesterday at locals, I was playing against Agent Fairies with my Fableds, and twice was I able to somehow get it into the Graveyard without its effect activating (discarding, Book of Moon then destroying it, etc.) and revive it with Monster Reborn, effectively shutting down his own deck.
In any case, I do believe this is one of the better formats to run Fableds.
Card lore has always been interesting to me; I always enjoy making connections between cards by theme or card art. It is only a shame that Spells, Traps, and Effect Monsters do not have flavor text. They really should, as Magic does most of the time.

There is no reason not to run 3 Icarus Attack. It's one of the most powerful cards BW has and you'll want to see it as much as possible.
I'm also not sold on Dimensional Prison atm, with all those MST and heavy around. I'd say
-2 Dim Pri, +1 Icarus Attack bringing you to 40.
Lack of Sirocco is not that awful as the deck tends to revolve mostly around Blizzard plays nowadays.
I do. It is a handy application to build and sometimes test decks (when the opponent does not disconnect and knows English and the basic rules of the game).
Your safest bet is sticking to one card on field and set up for a Stardust Dragon. Or if you chainables to set, those can go a long way to diminish Icarus Attack's impact.
Here's what I've been trying:
Monsters(21):
1x BLS - Envoy of the Beginning
1x BW - Zephyrus the Elite
3x Chaos Sorcerer
3x Cyber Dragon
1x Ghost Ship
2x Tour Guide from the Underworld

1x Monster Reborn
1x Mind Control
Traps(2):
2x CotH

1x Adreus
1x Tiras
1x Dark-Fire Dragon
1x Reaper on the Nightmare
1x Dragoness the Wicked Knight

1x No. 17 Leviathan Dragon
1x Utopia

pretty interesting to see ghost ship being teched in a lot of stuff. at first glance i thought the card looked like garbage but i guess i can see some utility as with cyber dragon you can get out those strong rank 5s. even then, is it worth running ghost ship when at the cost of removing another dark you could have potentially dropped a sorcerer anyway who with the exception of tiras, is probably equally good in terms of removal with the other 2 rank 5s
Barring Dark World, Agents are definitely the strongest deck atm. And what do you know, they're all fairies, which gave me the idea to try out Herald of Perfection, an insanely good card, in an Agents build. I was surprised that it fit fairly well, giving a deck with a good blend of offense and control.
Monsters - 31
3| Herald of Perfection
2| Archlord Kristya
3| Master Hyperion
3| The Agent of Creation - Venus
3| Mystical Shine Ball
3| The Agent of Mystery - Earth
1| Honest
3| Herald of Orange Light
3| Herald of Green Light
3| Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands
1| Marshmallon
1| Gyakuteno Megami
2| Genex Ally Birdman
Spells - 6
1| Advanced Ritual Art
1| Dawn of the Herald
1| Pot of Avarice
3| Dark Factory of Mass Production
Traps - 3
3| Royal Decree
Extra Deck - 15
2| Gachi Gachi Gantetsu
2| Stardust Dragon
1| Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
1| Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
1| T.G. Hyper Librarian
1| Leviair the Sea Dragon
1| Black Rose Dragon
1| Armory Arm
2| Ally of Justice Catastor
1| Orient Dragon
1| Number 25: Illumiknight
1| Scrap Dragon
The monster line-up shouldn't be all too surprising. Triple Heralds of Orange and Green Light help to control the early game while also mitigating the effect of drawing Shine Balls, extra Heralds of Perfection, or, god forbid, Gyakuteno Megami. Genex Ally Birdman "recycles" Earth and Manju, giving me more fodder for Herald of Perfection when I summon them again and use their searches, while also serving as acceleration early game by comboing with Venus, making turn 1 Stardust Dragon + Gachi Gachi Gantetsu plays possible.
The Spell line-up is fairly condensed. Dark Factory of Mass Production is useful for keeping fodder active for the Heralds, or can just be used with Venus to recycle Shine Balls and get out a quick Gachi Gachi. Pot of Avarice recycles Fairies and can also return Shine Balls (very important), and can even add Megami back to the deck so that I can use Advanced Ritual Art (fun fact: I can't run Dunames Dark Witch over Megami because I almost never seem to have both it and a Shine Ball in the deck when I get Advanced Ritual Art).
The 3 Royal Decrees are the only traps I run, for the express purpose of simplifying plays for me. With decree active I can stop plays with just Orange or Green Heralds, I can attack with Hyperion / Kristya / Synchros with impunity, and I reduce the number of cards that I need to negate with Herald of Perfection, making it much more effective.
It's a fun deck, but I'm sure there are places to improve on it. It's probably not what I'd use in real life (that would be Dark World), but it is quite satisfying locking the opponent down while waiting to draw into Hyperion.
Herald of Perfection is simply too inconsistent with me in Agents. The engine is great but I think that straight Agents with a few techs in is MUCH stronger.
pretty interesting to see ghost ship being teched in a lot of stuff. at first glance i thought the card looked like garbage but i guess i can see some utility as with cyber dragon you can get out those strong rank 5s. even then, is it worth running ghost ship when at the cost of removing another dark you could have potentially dropped a sorcerer anyway who with the exception of tiras, is probably equally good in terms of removal with the other 2 rank 5s
I found Ghost Ship to rarely conflict with the other power cards Chaos decks can drop, it simply adds another option to put a big monster on the field.
Then again, if haven't tested nearly enough to make a solid assessment of Ghost Ship's true worth.
Is there any particular reason for the mishmash of Dragunity, BWs and REDMD? Because if it's just to support the single Simorgh then that is kinda bad.
So... I figured Fableds would be quite good this format, given the decrease in opposing backrows which may deter my plays. Not only that, but I have always liked Fableds (a favorite archtype of mine) and began to play them when they first came out. Needless to say, nobody needed to twist my arm to make a build for the format.
I am considering on taking this to a Regional at the end of the month (before the Darkworld Structure and LC02), so any input is greatly appreciated:

I have considered toying around with Threatening Roars or Battle Faders or Upstart Goblins in the main. Also considered the use of Starlight Roads, Forbidden Lances, and Effect Veilers, but those are currently sided.
Some other things to note: Used to use Morphing Jar, but I find it can be a little too slow for this sort of thing, so it is sided. Considering a Foolish Burial for Kushano/other Fabled drops. Dark Hole is sided. Using a Raigeki Break over PWWB since I cannot find a spare, but they are more favorable in some matchups anyway. Mind Crushes have not been a really big help, but I have only seen them a handful of games anyway. Sangan may be nice to fit in here. I like fourty-one card decks. My deck has a severe lack of level 6 Synchros, but space is tight. I have been finding it difficult to use T.G. Hyper Librarian effectively.
If anyone has any more questions or would like me to elaborate more on my choices, please feel free to ask; I may find something is not as efficient as I thought it was.

Too many Ceburrels and Chawas. Kushano should be run in 3 in all builds imo. -1 Ceb, -1 Chawa. A Kushano in grave will get your Grimro/Krus plays going. I also don't really like Krus or Gana at 3, as it keeps you from running tech.
The Tricky sucks imo; it clogs up your hand unless you discard when you don't want to. Just isn't flexible. Gorz is okay I guess.
Move 1 MST to side, move Dark Hole to main. Always main Dark Hole.
I'd go -1 Ceburrel, -1 Chawa. -2 Tricky, and add in +1 Black Luster Soldier and +3 Tour Guide (gets Kushano in grave instantly, way better than Burial), assuming you can access them. The price on TG has gone down since the Sangan ruling, at least...
Barring that just get a BLS and use Sangan, and keep the extra Ceburrel and Chawa. Though you could try other cards, like Nozochee.
Also +1 Honest is great for this deck if you need to run over something with Grimro or something. I don't like Mind Crush in this deck; I *do* like Forced Requisition though. Maybe -2 MC, +1 Req, +1 Call of the Haunted. Drop Rageki Break and one PWWB for 2 Solemn Warnings (or BTH if you can't afford)
I'm not a fan of Unicore or Kuddabi. I'd put in a Levia and a Leviathan Dragon IF you can get the Tour Guides.
I don't play RL Yugioh so I can't really advise in terms of price constraints.
Also, this is a useful link to know what's going on in OCG Yugioh, and it's useful for predicting future hits (notice that prior to Aug 16 Sams were the most dominant deck by far, granted they didn't have Tengu).
