Yugioh! TCG Thread

Warthog (or anyone else), three questions:
1) Why do people run one trap dustshoot with one mind crush? Its an awesome combo, but what are the odds of opening with both of them, or even simply drawing into them?
Mind Crush is used regardless because of Crush Card Virus usually but since everyone is playing the same deck it isnt too hard to use. You'll be surprised how many times you know whats in your opponents hand.
2) You mentioned that everyone runs 3x cauis 3x thestalos x1 raiza, is this really written in stone? You yourself say mobius should be sided, and yet you main him in that deck. I'm asking this because like I've already said, I'm running marco monarchs. Due to my limited resources, I had to get creative. I'm running:
3x cauis
1x mobius
1x dark dust spirit
2x yamata dragon
(got x1 zaborg x1 thesalos available)
which leads into my third,
I still like Mobius sided but 1 Mobius is tech and with three Soul Exchange you need more Monarchs. Yamata is okay.. I personally dont like the high level tributes.
3) Am I an idiot for attempting high level spirits in macro monarchs? My friends and I don't the most competitive decks in the world, but a successful hit from yamata usually nets me the game.I would just tech one and not make the deck based around it. Personally I like Hino better.

Cubed, its been confirmed that the Extra Packs are tokens for some of the never monsters. T-45 and Blazes!

Yeah, I half expected that.

By the way, xc hawk, some new spirit support is coming out in the upcoming booster pack, so you might want to hold onto those spirit monsters.

I'm a bit bored so I'm listing the deck I've made with the cards collected in a few years of amateuristic yu-gi-oh playing.

just gotta say
you really need to get rid of tribute to the doomed.
if you want to pitch a card to remove something, why not use better cards like lightning vortex or phoenix wing wind blast, even raigeki break.

It's really funny how after a period of time of not playing you can pick up back on it with the cards you have on you and still pull of amazing shit. I just built a gadget deck that has strange cards but works. The only flaw is that my hands are clogged up by gadgets so either 5th gadget it out or lose a set.

Anyone else done this before? (The returning to the card game and being better thing)

Been changing my deck up a bit and I've got some questions to run by you guys. I run Gadgets:

- Are there any other competitive/more fun versions than Oppression? Not necessarily better just more fun or different while still being viable (Macro, ROTA with Warriors, Ratbox variant, Counter would be a bit more expensive than I'd like)
- Thoughts on using D.D. Assailant in Gadgets? I personally really like him as it's essentially a guaranteed Monster Removal attached to a 1700 monster most of the time
- How good are T-45 Blue Thunders? They seem to be good and they'll have token creation to fuel Enemy-Controller's second effect which I run three of
- What's the point of Kycoo? Banisher is already in my deck and Kycoo just seems like extra as he won't actually DO anything a lot other than be the strongest monster in my deck
- How would most of you handle a face-down monster in Gadgets? I run three Drillroids to help, but when he's buried in my deck, a face-down monster is basically immune to my removal. There's Nobleman of Crossout of course

'Bout it right there.

T-Thunders are good imo. They are good to have to assure monsters on your field even if you hand is clogged. Also great for creature swap/enemy controller and limiter removal.

I never like Kycoo myself except making sure cards stay out of play. I would use him though just for power and being able to help you in a tight spot (raise his power up with an equip card, kill something that could come back to the field if it was in the graveyard but it cant come back because its removed from play. I guess Phenoix would be the best to use that on).

Royal Oppression should be main decked regardless which version of Gadget you play imho. Personally the best Gadget build I've played been Warrior or Machine based. I personally don't like the "counter everything" approach I see some people play. The deck needs to have synergy and needs to work together a moving machine.

also 6 Gadgets are a lot better than 9 from experience. You always get hands even if built properly that makes you lose at least one game.

I'd say either Fossil Dyna Gadgets w/Burden>Shrink or Monarch Gadgets are the best and most consistent versions of the deck(though fossils are pretty expensive for the theme). Fossil Gadgets consistently beat Dark Armed control decks and [usually] Gbeasts(unless they sack with cold wave and Gyzarus Fossil if it is set). Monarch Gadgets pack a punch unlike the other versions and can remove threats with beatsticks like Caius. I personally like Monarch Gadgets. If you main Threatening roar you will easily destroy Gladiators.

Kycoo is for anti-DAD if you can't get Banisher out quickly(though you have to protect kycoo with s/t support). Legendary Jujitsu Master rapes Gadgets pretty badly, but Enemy Controller, Smashing, Vortex, Crossout, Shield Crush, and even Caius or Raiza are ways to stop it.

Monarch Gadgets is a new one I had never considered. What do you run for tribute fodder? Oppression shuts down Treeborn Frog so are we just assuming the traps keep the monsters on the field?

EDIT: Burden > Shrink? I'm confused there. Burden of the Mighty seems like it would do... nothing. Obviously it doesn't hurt the big guys like DAD, Judgment Dragon or Hera (like Shrink would) and if there are 4 star monsters with 1800 attack you can only suicide into them with your strongest Gadget. I suppose Banisher, Kycoo, and whichever 1700's you're running could run over the other 4 stars but if a Monarch gets on the field, Burden doesn't help much. You can only suicide at best and I don't usually run Kycoos so that's not even an option.

Although if we assume Oppression is on the field, the opponent's options for getting Monarchs out are very limited anyway. Their only option, that I can think of, would be 1800+ defense monsters (Jujitsu Master/GK Spy).

Does Oppression stop Treeborn Frog? I mean, yes, it would, but would it just come back and take another 800 points. Rinse. Then. Repeat?

Frog can only come back if you have no spells/traps on the field, so of course it won't come back with oppression period.

Monarch Gadgets run Jujitsus and Soul Exchanges(2 of each usually). 3 Thestalos/ 2 Caius is about right. Thestalos is better in gadgets because you will be spamming removal anyway, and Thest's hand disruption is just so deadly.

I apologize for getting the Fossil Dyna thing across improperly; what I meant to say is that you should run Burdens AND Shrinks. Yes. Your main goal will be protecting Fossil, as it will absolutely wreck most opponents this format is they cannot get rid of it in time(Gladiator Beasts mainly).

The Monarch idea is something I'm going to definitely look into because Monarchs are just fun.

About Treeborn Frog, I was wondering if Oppression would do anything to an opponent's. I guess the frog would just keep coming back and wasting your lifepoints so don't negate Frog.

So I tried to whip this up in 10 minutes:

Monsters: 19
2x Caius
3x Thestalos
2x Green Gadget
2x Red Gadget
2x Yellow Gadget
3x Legendary Jujitsu Master
3x T-45 Blue Thunder
1x Spirit Reaper
1x Marshmallon

Magic: 12
2x Shrink
2x Enemy Controller
2x Soul Exchange
1x Brain Control
2x Hammer Shot
1x Fissure
1x Smashing Ground
1x Lightning Vortex

Trap: 11
3x Royal Oppression
2x Magic Drain
2x Bottomless Traphole
2x Sakuretsu Armor
1x Mirror Force
1x Torrential Tribute

Total: 42

Basic ideas are to use the 5 defense monsters in the deck to summon the Monarchs. T-45 is used so that there will be tokens to use Enemy Controller to sacrifice their monster similar to Brain Control. Soul Exchange helps things too basically being a 1-for-2 in this deck. I was considering Creature Swap but not sure what the effectiveness would really be.

There's no magic/trap removal... Mobius > Caius? Or do I need to fit MST or Heavy in this?

-2 Mdrain
-2 saku
+3 Solemn Judgement
+1 Bottomless Trap Hole
-3 t-45
+3 kycoo
-1 Marsh
+1 Shrink
-1 Jujitsu
+1 Trap Dustshoot

In case you were wondering, kycoo is excellent insurance vs. dad if you don't draw oppression. You have plenty of protection for kycoo so dad won't run him over via attack(his effect obviously won't work due to kycoo's effect).

Though solemn is expensive, it is absolutely staple in here. It prevents many key plays that would interfere with slow decks such as this. Solemn is about 20-25 each, but once obtained they are well worth it.
