XY Ubers Analysis Index

Useful Links for Analysis Writers:

There's a new format for analyses that SDS has kindly explained here.

Concerning this new format, there are three section divisions for checks and counters that are separated by vague and undefined terms. Because it's a system that clearly doesn't work for Ubers, we will only be organizing them by a approximate/"eye balled" ordered list from best checks to least effective.

Also, the example used for the checks and counters section can be misleading because Smeargle, a support Pokemon, was used instead of your more typical attacking/defensive Pokemon that have specific Pokemon as checks rather than general methods. Each of these specific Pokemon get their own section but you can group very similar Pokemon together. (For example, grouping Landorus-T, Groudon, and Ground Arceus as a "Ground Types" bullet)

Manaphy's Darkrai analysis is an excellent example of what I am looking for:
Checks & Counters
########

**Fighting Arceus**: One of the few Pokemon that can switch into Darkrai once Dark Void has been used and not be afraid of any coverage attack.

**Bulky Fairy-types**: Darkrai is very hard to totally counter because of Dark Void. Once the threat of Dark Void is gone, it becomes infinitely easier to stop. Fairy-types such as Xerneas, Clefable, and Sylveon all wall sets lacking Sludge Bomb, and often have a way to deal with status due to Sleep Talk or cleric support. Fairy Arceus lacks a way around Dark Void, but can easily wall Darkrai sets without Sludge Bomb.

**Dark-type Tanks**: Tyranitar, Yveltal, and Dark Arceus can easily wall Darkrai after sacking a teammate to sleep, provided Darkrai doesn't have the appropriate auxiliary coverage.

**Kyogre**: Kyogre must watch out for Thunder and Dark Void (if it lacks lack Sleep Talk), but can tank a hit and smash Darkrai with boosted Water-type attacks.

**Ho-Oh**: When Stealth Rock and Dark Void aren't an issue, Ho-Oh can wall Darkrai and 2HKOes back with Sacred Fire or Brave Bird.

**Revenge Killing**: Thanks to how frail Darkrai is, it is fairly easy to revenge kill. Choice Scarf Pokemon with Sleep Talk such as Terrakion and Zekrom, make some of the best Darkrai checks due to their ability to surprise it for an OHKO. Mega Gengar and Mewtwo are naturally faster than Darkrai and can nail it with a super-effective Fighting-type attack. Choice Scarf users lacking Sleep Talk can still come in after Darkrai has KO'd something and proceed to OHKO it or force it out. Priority attacks aren't going to OHKO Darkrai, but they can easily stop one that has been weakened thanks to Life Orb or Substitute damage. Common priority users and many revenge killers aren't going to enjoy directly switching into Darkrai at anytime though.

**Status**: Darkrai absolutely hates being paralyzed as its great Speed becomes completely useless, and its sweeping potential goes down the drain. Other status ailments such as poison and burns don't bother Darkrai as much, but they can drain down a Life Orb set rather quickly.

Reserving Analyses

If you want to write an analysis for a Pokemon, make sure you post here first. Afterwords, you have 48 hours to have your skeleton ready for QC checks before anybody else who is interested in that analysis can take over. Those who had an Official preview for a Pokemon before this shift to Pokebank have priority for the new analysis. However, you only have 72 hours from this post to claim the analysis in this thread before it's open to everybody else. You may only reserve 2 analyses maximum, however exceptions may be made to those the QC team trusts. Regardless, you can only have 3/4 analyses reserved total across the C&C forum. Only when all of your Pokemon are written and in the GP stage may you reserve another. Do not edit posts in this thread, you may double post if need be. The QC team may remove you from an analysis at any point they deem necessary.

Also, there's been a growing problem lately in CC of users reserving analyses for mons they clearly aren't very familiar with. Having the QC team handhold writers throughout their analysis is a massive drain as it ends up being the QC team writing the analysis but through somebody else and not at their own pace. Writers should have a basic understanding of the Pokemon they are doing an analysis for so that the QC team only has to concern themselves with the details and/or the viability of the Pokemon/set. Which means, we are going to start being much more liberal about taking analyses away from users that are considered to not have the experience necessary to write an analysis for that Pokemon. In addition, users who have their analyses taken away will be barred from reserving another one during a case-by-case determined amount of time. This measure isn't to punish analysis writers but rather to save them the trouble of repeatedly making the effort of writing up a skeleton just to have it promptly taken away from them. Also, don't feel bad if you have your analysis taken away from you, the vast majority of the QC team is more than willing to help out new and/or inexperienced users learn more about the ubers metagame. Try to be more involved in the discussion going on in the ubers room on PS or in the #ubers channel on IRC where a lot of good, real time metagame discussion goes on. (lurking the forums can also help a lot)

Tagging your analyses

  • WIP - Work in Progress: The skeleton is incomplete and is not ready for the QC Team to evaluate. Keep in mind that the longer your analysis stays in WIP stage, the greater the chance of it being reassigned. Do not be lazy.
  • Quality Control - Quality Control Ready: In the set title, include [QC: 0/3]. The skeleton is complete in bullet point form and now needs to seek approval by the QC Team. Make sure you update the thread title with the number of QC checks you currently have. Once you have received two QC checks you must write the analysis in paragraph form with the skeleton in hide tags underneath. You will not receive a third QC check until this is done.
  • Copyediting - Grammar-Prose Ready: In the set title, include [GP: 0/2]. The three required QC approvals have been met. The Grammar-Prose team now takes over. When you are ready for a GP check, please post in the Grammar-Prose Queue with a link to your analysis.
  • Done: After the analysis gets two GP stamps, the analysis is ready for upload.

I'd prefer that those who haven't completed an analysis before (so this includes you Hack) to not reserve two Pokemon.

I'd like to take Zekrom if that's a possibility.
I know I'm new to the community in terms of posts, but I've been playing Ubers for quite a while, so I hope that's okay.

That's fine, we'll be able to determine from your skeleton if you know what you are talking about or not.

I would like Groudon por favor. I would also like Yveltal if Jibaku doesn't want to do it.
