What should I breed for on my LONG car-ride to florida this week?(two day ride) I want something that's not common what so ever, yet still has potential.

Just a quick question, but who's the best starter of the Johto region? You know how certain starters are simply used the most or are favored more than others... like Swampert from Advance and Infernape from DP. I was just wondering, out of the three johto starters, who is the most effective in competitive play?

Typhlosion is pretty badass imo, Scarf Eruption is sex.

Feraligatr makes a pretty good DDer and can sweep well with one or two under his belt.

Meganium is Meganium.

If you can get XD I would suggest get a chikorita from that and keep frenzy plant. Then, give it a power herb and some other moves- check the moveset stuff- and build a moveset around that.

if you don't have access to that, I would go with Eruption scarfer Typhlosion

Okay, the power items you get with BP points that helps give you more EVs. It says it lowers your speed. I was wanting to know if it lowers your speed stat overall? Or lowers your speed just in battle?

No, it's not permanent. If you take the item off, the Speed returns to normal in battle.

Meganium can be taught Frenzy Plant in DP. Besides, Power Herb doesn't work like that, it only eliminates charge-up time, like SolarBeam.

Next, I'm working on choice band scizor, built on the fact that a slow u-turn coming from something sturdy enough to do it more than once is probably a tremendous asset in switching a team around freely. That being the case, my question is this:

Should I try and run something close to the standard, with an adamant nature and healthy (for a scizor) speed?

OR

Perhaps a Brave nature, a low Speed IV, and a couple attacks that don't factor speed in at all, namely Quick Attack and Pursuit?

It'd look like this:

Brave @ Choice Band, Technician
U-turn
Brick Break (for coverage, and bonus anti-screen utility)
Quick Attack
Pursuit

What I'm trying to ask is, is there some benefit I'm missing to having some speed behind this guy's u-turns and brick breaks? Or even if there is, would the utility of the slow u-turn outweigh it?

Does Cherrim boost its Attack or Special Attack in the sun with Solar Power. I know it boosts its Special Defense by 50%, but I'm unsure which attacking stat.

What's something that could be bred in Emerald for the tutor moves?

The punches are the most popular. So things like Ice/Thunderpunch Metagross, Thunderpunch Breloom (but you have to sacrifice Poison Heal), Fire Punch Marowak, Fire Punch Ursaring, DD/Ice Punch Ferilgatr...don't have much experience here.

I've gotten done IV breeding my Piplup's and finaly got this egg:

Nature: Adamant
IV's: 29, 31, 31, 26, 23, 31
Item: Splash Plate, Liechi Berry?
Moves: Aqua Jet, Swords Dance, Earthquake, Drill Peck

The idea here is to use aqua jet as my main attacking move on my rain dance team after a swords dance. Obviously, I am going to be maxing out my attack EV's. I need to know where I should put the rest of my EV's. Is it worth maxing out speed too (would reach 219), or would it be wise to place elsewhere?

Please help! Thanks!

Well maybe you could go 252 Attack / 208 Speed / 50 HP

With that it has max attack and reaches 208 Speed out speeding Agiligross(202) so you can Earthquake it and 1 point more outspeeding Marowak to Waterfall/Aqua Jet although Aqua Jey would be going first anyways.

I got a few doubts :

1. Does Protect protect Encore? Or do you keep Protecting?
2. Sandstorm boosts the Sp.Def of which pokemons?
3. LO boosts your stat 1.3 times or your Base Power of the move?
4. Does cloning Pokemon in Emerald have any bad effects? If yes, what are they? If not, why do some people say no cloning to their traded pokemons?
5. How to trade between Fire Red and Emerald if you have a DS? Is it the same link cables or are there some other methods?

1. Protect does block Encore as long as it is successful. If Protect fails, you will be vulnerable to Encore.
2. Any and all Rock types.
3. It boosts the actual damage dealt by 1.3
4. It's never given me any bad effects and I've never headr of any happening to other people. Like all glitches, it could have side effects though.
5. You can't. You'll need to get a GBA or trade them through the Gamecube.

where is a nice place to level? i have lucky egg so it will be faster. elite four just gives me 2 levels which is slow considering i have to kill 20 pokes to level and the dialogues after you beat cynthia is long.

Can Starmie be bulky? It has 85/85 defences which is more than Crobat which is somewhat considered bulky but it let down by it's 60hp. However unlike Crobat it has Cosmic Power which will further boost it's defence and does get recover. With Leftovers would this work? Considering that water only has 2 weaknesses but only 4 resistences.

If the main point behind your Scizor is the slow U-turn, then I'd go for Quick Attack and Pursuit. I'd be hesitant about Choice Band, though, especially because Pokémon that U-turn to Scizor will lock Scizor into using U-turn.

Cherrim's ability is Flower Gift, and it boosts Attack and SpDefense. Solar Power is a different ability that boosts only SpAttack and drains the holder's HP.
