It's offical, the new formes DON'T work on wifi or union room.

UNLESS, what Syberia said holds water. How does it "direct connect?"

In any case, wifi should be out of the question.
 
In a local wireless battle, initiated between two copies of platinum by talking to the woman on the RIGHT on the top floor of the pokemon center, Skymin CAN be used. It CANNOT be used on WiFi or in the normal Union Room.

This is what matters. Unless they do something to the servers to make it happen, I don't see it happening. It could be made into the game before you connect online that it reverts to Land during Nintendo WFC and Union Room. Which means we're screwed.

The only other option is the lady upstairs on the far right, but then it's like a waste of time if you're forced to use the things over that. Restricted to local tournaments, restricted to Lv. 50. (unless they have Local Lv. 100 now, at least that'd be fun to have, no more Wifi only IV check, but it'd only be compatible with other Platinums, shit.....)

It's too early to say it's impossible, but don't get your hopes up, best would be not to even think about the alt forms at all until we get confirmation they're playable on Wifi, which I don't see happening.

That is the thing. We have no idea what they are planning to do for the future, so we have no place to just write it off. Just ignoring it completely won't do us any good. They could change the servers. It could just work on wifi. I'm not beig optimistic, I'm being honest, as it is too early to believe that it's impossible.

As I said, I don't care either way. I'm not gona spendfive hours soft reseting for a Shaymin.
 
Lol so that's what the pictures are showing...in that case, would skymin and friends be included in normal play, or extended clause?
 
i think they showed us those pictures with them being on wifi to let us know that they will work but not right away maybe they'll make it some kind of downloadble event sort of like the rotom key.

what reason would we have not to allow them in normal play (ignoring the whole "Sky Shaymin might be broken" argument for a moment)?

Shoddy CAN implement this fully. But it is very restricted. We are back to local battles again, hmmm...

This is difficult.

According to serebii, changing Rotom's form means you lose the attack it learned... Here is a link.

And as for the topic, are you sure you can't use them? When I went in GTS and was browsing random Battle Recorder matches, I found quite a lot of Sky Shaymins and a few Origin Giratinas, and the matches were player vs player...

like I said, this is where it gets a little touchy. It SHOULD be legal. but you can only test this only on Shoddy (in Skymin's case), which is REALLY, REALLY, dumb.

Giratina-O is uber no matter how you slice the cake anyways.

My point exactly. Nothing is official at all. I'd expect Nintendo to confirm it being unusable on wifi. But everyone here is hell bent on following some test that happend only a few days after the game was made. It is very much possible that they did not include it in wifi at all, that much is true. But it is also possible that it won't be included until further notice. Wireless or otherwise.

Until we get 100% fact, I don't see how we can clearly say that it is -and always will be- impossible.

If you frequent Serebii you should check out his Battle Recorder page. It states it records Player Vs. Player battles... Online and local. The ones you've seen with Skymin/whatever could very well be local Colosseum battles.

And we never really tested if you can put Skymin/etc. on GTS. Even so, if you were to search on D/P, they probably wouldn't show up anyway, they probably have their own little coding to exclude them.

This is making my head hurt. It did yesterday. So there's my cents on the whole ordeal.

I wasn't talking about transforming Rotom back manually. I was talking about for Versus play. Seeing as how Origin-atina and Skymin are banned from Wifi, Rotom wouldn't be too far of a stretch.
 
Maybe I'm missing something here, but doesn't the signal bars appear no matter how you are connected (locally or wi-fi)? I see everyone talking about how the pre-release pictures are from Wi-Fi, but how do you really know they are from a Wi-Fi battle? Did they state that or something when the pics where released? I didn't really follow all the pre-release stuff, so if someone could clarify this for me it would be appriciated!

Still, glad to know that it works locally. That means it will be usable on Shoddy =)
 
Syberia, I know you can only obtain the glacidia flower with a movie shaymin but what about it's use? Does it only transform movie shaymin?

GF, is so weird. They put these events in and then make it so no one can use them.
 
I don't have a Flower Paradise Sheimi and haven't bothered to obtain one to test with, but from what I've heard, the game checks for the Classic Ribbon.
 
I remember reading somewhere that if you connect to someone with a Diamond or Pearl game card with your Platinum, the forms that didn't exist in the Pre-Platinum era are reverted back to their original form.

I imported Platinum and it should come some time this week. I'm looking forward to seeing if I can use Shaymin-S against another player with Platinum. It doesn't make sense for them to make a Pokemon that's banned from Wi-Fi play or that they can ban things from American Wi-Fi. Arceus would be banned then.
