titans will lose a couple down the stretch. they aren't dominating teams, just playing solid football. all of their division games are trap games, steelers have been brought up.

cowboys likely will have a very tough time making the playoffs...idk if they can do it.

i hate how much attention the cowboys are getting. :\ they aren't even the best team in their (tough) division, including a healthy romo and secondary.

Yeah but the NFC East is a beast of a division. NYG, Washington, Dallas, Philly, and the Giants are leading by a game over the Redskins.

I miss the days of Tom Brady.
I much rather hear about the Pats being 8-0 than hearing about Shitli Manning and his team being 7-1.

Shitli Manning

How clever.

Dallas will finish in last place in the NFC East, and as long as they keep beating each other evenly I think the other three can make the playoffs. Of course, the Panthers/Bucs/Falcons/Packers/Bears might have something to say about that. (Don't even bother mentioning the west.)

The more I think about it, the more I support adding two more teams to the playoffs and not giving any teams a first-round bye. It'll get more teams involved in the post-season, which means more revenue and TV ratings, and then there wouldn't be travesties like the Browns missing the playoffs last year. I mean, when's the next chance they'll get?

I still think once Romo is back, last place in the division will still be Eagles. Also claiming Eli to be shit is a bit much. He's sort of decent.

I was at the Giants game, and the Giants receivers played horrible. So many dropped passes. Congrats to Steve Smith on his first career NFL TD though.

How clever?
Was this sarcasm? =p

I would like 8 per division, too. It would be more fun.

edit: Anderson benched for the Browns. =O

and...SCHAUB OUT FOR MAYBE 4 WEEKS!
YES I'LL GET TO SEE ROSENFELS WHEN THEY COME!!!
16th. =D
Omg so fucking pumped.

Do you not get that it is not an easy upcoming schedule? All of the teams appear to be about as good as or better than the Packers, and the Packers are certainly no more consistent. Any Packers fan should be duly upset at this point.

B. Leftwich 7/10 129 1 0
B. Roethlisberger 5/17 50 0 1

byron leftwich...

man possessed? or better than ben roethlisberger? you be the judge

if ben has to sit out, i feel comfortable with leftwich starting. he's healthy and his mind isn't screwed up by getting pounded week after week...for now, anyway.

nice to have willie parker back, not a spectacular day, but it was solid against one of the nfl's best defenses.

pitt defense is tooooooooo good. aside from that completely retarded offside kick, and the INT off of a deflection, washington was unable to do anything really productive for the last 3 quarters.

Even then it's not like the offense ever did anything. They just had the ball in field goal range to begin with, and went 3 and out both times.

I'd be more inclined to say that the Redskin's defense allowed him to go through them, they really did kind of fall apart. And the Redskin's offense was lost in space as well.

Lol Leftwich.

Is it just me, or do the Steelers have a knack for having really solid backup QBs, as opposed to other teams who are struggling to even have a solid STARTING QB?

Leftwich did great for us, but I wouldn't expect a spectacular performance every time if he starts more games. The Redskins were expecting Ben, not him, so they might have been unprepared. Or they might have been rattled by the fact that Steeler fans equaled Redskins fans in numbers? Who knows. I wasn't impressed with the Redskins going into the game, and my theory was proven. All the analysts kept talking about how Campbell was so good because he hadn't thrown an INT all season (which isn't difficult when 90% of your passes are under 5 yards. Are we imitating Mark Brunell here?). They also talked about Clinton Portis having 120 yards in his last 5 games (in which they hadn't faced any impressive rush defenses). When the Redskins were tested, they faltered. The Steelers proved their worth again, and are back in the discussion of "Best AFC Team".

CP - thats pretty sweet..I had 20+ of those way back when..

Anyways..Leftwich doing better for one game hardly even needs an arguement..if Ben sits out next game and Byron is equally as impressive then maybe you have somkething to think about..

but the point is that ben can sit out if need be and leftwich can at worst, just not lose the game for the steelers.

nice set up capitan kirbster

That's pretty cool CK. Bills aren't first in the division, though!

Dunno what's up with the Cowboys hate, must be jealously. :kongler: They've amassed a laundry list of injuries, luckily most of which are gone with the Bye passing by, and have still managed to keep afloat. Not like anyone outside the East is challenging their division in general so it's more whether they can avoid the NFC Basement or not... And they still have a winning record and Game 1 over the Eagles. Sure, they might have to fight late in the season for their playoff berth but it's hardly out of reach. That Week 17 match with Philly...

Yes, but the Bills helmet is cooler than the Patriots. Instead of abiding by NFL tiebreakers, I tiebreaked by whose helmet was cooler (but only if I could remember if they were tied).

Sucks for anyone who had Roy Williams this season in fantasy: not only was he bad, but two bye weeks lol

One of the things that makes a team great is the ability to overcome injuries, no matter how many.

Look at the Steelers. They've lost half their starting O-line for the season, one RB for the season, were without their starting RB for 3 or 4 games, missed their pro bowl D-Lineman for 2 games, and have had a QB playing through injury(s) all season. Yet they've still managed to play well and win. This is why teams have DEPTH, so injuries do not make or break the team.

wtf is this doing off the front page

anyway

the browns CANNOT hold a lead lol. baltimore last week, denver this week, both by double digit numbers heading into the final quarter.

how nub

Sigh, Browns. -_- I picked them for pick'em this week too, not to mention my unofficial fandom being an in-state team and having many relatives who are fans. They had that game in the bag... And, well, I think Braylon Edwards needs to go back to Michigan because he obviously hasn't finished his football education.

It's especially difficult to gauge depth on the offense, where most starters don't rotate as often or at all compared to defenses, and most of the time you just sorta have to be 'lucky' that your temporary new starter can adequately replace your starter. There's a reason your starters are your starters. The Steelers are just lucky that Mewelde Moore happens to be a beast.

This is especially the case for QBs; there aren't even enough good starting QBs for every team in the NFL, how can you expect anyone to have a great backup? You have a few lucky teams who picked up a young former starter elsewhere (Leftwich) or whose backups just otherwise have significant playing time for other reasons (Wallace, Rosenfels) and therefore appear better than other backups simply by virtue of having some gametime experience. You might blame Dallas for not trying to pursue a better backup than fucking Brad Johnson or Brooks Bollinger but you can't blame them for not having a backup that is as elite as Tony Romo. (But really, is it their fault veteran Brad Johnson, former Super Bowl winner, just happens to stink ass while veteran Kerry Collins is managing to do much better in Tennessee? Sometimes, shit just happens.) It's not like Matt Cassel is prolific in replacing Tom Brady either and the Patriots' offense has been pretty hobbled as well, they just happen to have the easiest schedule in the NFL and play in a much worse division than the Cowboys so their record doesn't show it. :/

i find it ironic that last year's 18-1 team has one of the easiest schedules this year

even more ironic is that they are struggling a bit.

actually pittsburgh already had a solid backup in charlie batch. but he was put on ir in the preseason, and steelers management was wise enough to pick up leftwich while his value was really low.

It is not really ironic at all since these schedules are now (at least largely? I forget if all games are set or not, but I believe they are) set years in advance! Them struggling, however, could be construed as such.

Mewelde Moore is destroying the Colts. What a resurgence of a career lol

So Storm_FTW, do you care to admit that you were just talking blindly optimistic bullshit because of your favoritism for the Packers? The Vikings won for a reason - Adrian Peterson. Few games in the NFL are 'gimmes'.
