In Shoddy battle ladder, was born and raised. Playing Pokemon is how a spent some of my day. Battling, Switching, Attacking, Actin all cool till a guy called Bologo came and tore me a game that was a lot of fun and though why the hell not make it a warstory, Plat rarely ever gives a game that's fun for me to play (I'm sure some of you have this problem to). I know I haven't been cranking out any Archive material but this might be the best Warstory I have ever bothered to write. I now have a team that not only scores me wins in Plat but it does a damn good job of doing that to. So with out further ado I will show you the match of Bologo Vs. Gen. Empoleon (well not just yet).

Battle Text is removed (it was a popular battle)

Bologo-testing sent out Jirachi.
Gen. Empoleon sent out Tyranitar.

Tyranitar's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
A sandstorm brewed!

Well don't see this everyday a Jirachi lead. Jirachi is part Psychic which gives her the option of tricking a choice item to my Anti-Lead Sash Tyranitar. Though she could also not use Trick and hit Tyranitar hard with U-Turn or Iron Head. I decide to use Superpower hoping he doesn't run a ton of Defense Ev's.

Jirachi used Stealth Rock.
Pointed stones float in the air around your foe's team!
Tyranitar used Superpower.
Jirachi lost 31% of its health.
Tyranitar's attack was lowered.
Tyranitar's defence was lowered.

The sandstorm rages.
---
Tyranitar: 100% -1Atk/Def Jirachi:75%

Hmmm... That didn't do as much as I though it would and now Tyranitar is a sitting duck for whatever Jirachi wants. If it's a Special Jirachi then it is carrying Calm Mind-Stealth Rocks-Thunderbolt-Psychic, this means not in anyones right mind would they keep it in on a pokemon that is as threatening as Tyranitar. I'm considering switching to Gyrados to catch in on the Calm Mind or physical attack and Dragon Dance getting an easy kill, or maybe even two. Gyrados is by far the best option I have right now (besides Heatran but I don't want to show him just yet).

Gen. Empoleon switched in Gyarados.
Gyarados's intimidate cut Jirachi's attack!
Pointed stones dug into Gyarados.
Gyarados lost 25% of its health.
Jirachi used Iron Head.
It's not very effective...
Gyarados lost 13% of its health.

The sandstorm rages.
---
Gyrados: 66% Jirachi:81% -1Atk

I run Life Orb Gyrados since it is a monster of I sweeper. Gyrados is looking healthy enough to get a Dragon Dance in and Jirachi doesn't seem like she can do much.
Jirachi used Body Slam.
Gyarados lost 22% of its health.
Gyarados used Dragon Dance.
Gyarados's attack was raised.
Gyarados's speed was raised.

The sandstorm rages.
---
Gyrados: 28% +1Spe/Atk Jirachi: 87% -1Atk

Pardon me I need to call 9-1-1. Scary moment I had a 60% chance of getting paralyzed. Luckily Arceus said "WAIT!" and halted time to stop Jirachi from getting the Paralyze. Alright so he didn't but it's a better story than oh the 40% chance was just what I needed at the moment. I mean wh- Any way so I know have a very limited run on the sweeping potential and I hope this Earthquake has enough might to crush the Star Warrior.

Gyarados used Earthquake.
It's super effective!
Jirachi lost 88% of its health.
Bologo-testing's Jirachi fainted.
The sandstorm rages.
Gyarados lost 10% of its health.
---
6-5 Gen. Empoleon
Gyrados: 12% +1Atk/Spe Jirachi: Fainted

Well hopefully Gyrados is getting that second kill or this is all for naught. I have at most one more turn of a powerhouse attack the Gyrados dies due to the toll of Life Orb and Sandstorm. If it's a bulky water type then all I can hope is to dent it.

Bologo-testing switched in Shaymin-s.

Damn it! Why would anyone switch in a Shaymin-S on a +1Spe/Atk Dos? The only reason that it's scarfed and wants blood. Once Gyrados goes down it's locked into a move (most likely Air Slash) meaning I'm going to have to Flinch my ass off in order to kill that monster.

Gyarados used Stone Edge.
It's super effective!
Shaymin-s lost 100% of its health.
Bologo-testing's Shaymin-s fainted.
Gyarados lost 10% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
Gen. Empoleon's Gyarados fainted.
---
5-4 DOUBLE KILL
Gyrados:
Fainted Shaymin-S: Fainted
Ok, so it wasn't Scarfed but I got rid of a pokemon that gives my team endless trouble. I now have a new issue. Stealth Rocks. Nothing on my team really minds Stealth Rocks at the moment but I'm worried about the added damage along with the switching that might come later (i've heard a lot about Bologo lets say). I go to my Spinner and bulky water.

Bologo-testing switched in Rotom-s .
Gen. Empoleon switched in Starmie.
Pointed stones dug into Starmie.
Starmie lost 12% of its health.

Starmie: 88% Rotom-S: 100%

GREAT as soon as I send in my spinner Bologo send in his Spin Block as if to say "Kindly learn the game". Tyranitar is my main answer to the Roto's so I switch him in to take the special hit and hurt back with Dark Pulse.

Gen. Empoleon switched in Tyranitar.
Tyranitar's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
Pointed stones dug into Tyranitar.
Tyranitar lost 12% of its health.
Rotom-s used Thunderbolt.
Tyranitar lost 33% of its health.

The sandstorm rages.
---
Tyranitar: 55% Rotom-S:100%

Well that did a lot more than I though it would. I now have it set in my mind that Rotom has a SpAtk of a god. No use crying over spilt milk. I click Dark Pulse to deal SOME damage to Rotom before he takes down Tyranitar.

Bologo-testing switched in Togekiss.
Tyranitar used Dark Pulse.
Togekiss lost 33% of its health.

The sandstorm rages.
---
Tyranitar: 55% Togekiss: 67%

Ok, so I think Bologo knows that no person in their right mind would leave a Tyranitar in on a Togekiss. So wanting to not get out predicted, and not wanting to get paralyzed, I keep tyranitar in to deal some more damage to Togekiss. I click Dark Pulse again to deal some more very nice damage.

Togekiss used Aura Sphere.
It's super effective!
Tyranitar lost 55% of its health.
Gen. Empoleon's Tyranitar fainted.

The sandstorm rages.
---
4-4 Tie my shoe lace.
Tyranitar's: Soul was crushed Togekiss:67%

Ok, so either he predicted that I predicted that he would Thunder Wave and used Aura Sphere to get rid of Tyranitar. Or maybe he didn't even predict and just clicked Aura Sphere because of the Super Effective damage. It doesn't matter now, Tyranitar is useless without his sash.
Gen. Empoleon switched in Starmie.
Pointed stones dug into Starmie.
Starmie lost 12% of its health.

He might switch to Rotom, but maybe he's going to fear a STAB Surf hitting him in the face taking a dent out of his HP. I use Surf. Worst case, I hit something for not very effective damage. Then I get to spin, so let's get this done.

Bologo-testing switched in Lanturn.
Starmie used Surf.
It's not very effective...
Lanturn lost 14% of its health.

The sandstorm rages.
---
Starmie: 76% Lanturn: 86%

Well here comes in something I was not expecting to see. Lanturn resists Bolt-Beam along with Thunder-Surf. Chances are he's going to Paralyze me, Confuse me I switch to Celebi to take the Thunder Wave or Thunderbolt or Confuse Ray which I knew was coming. I run Sweeper Celebi Modest 252 Spe/SpAtk Leaf Storm-Psychic-Earth Power-Stealth Rocks. Hoping he only confuses or Thunderbolts I can OHKO him with Leaf Storm or take a dent out of Rotom.

Gen. Empoleon switched in Celebi.
Pointed stones dug into Celebi.
Celebi lost 12% of its health.
Lanturn used Thunder Wave.
Celebi is paralysed! It may be unable to move!

The sandstorm rages.
---
Celebi: 88%+Paralyzed Lanturn: 86%

Well that worked out beautifully. I don't know many people that would keep a water type in on a Celebi so I know I have to make a switch back to a pokemon. Which one though? Starmie can get rid of Rocks, while Heatran can do business with anyone that thinks they can stand up to him, besides Lanturn. Scizor is needed for late game, I don't want to show more pokemon to him. So I switch to Starmie to get rid of rocks.

Bologo-testing switched in Togekiss.
Gen. Empoleon switched in Starmie.
Pointed stones dug into Starmie.
Starmie lost 12% of its health.

The sandstorm rages.
---
Starmie: 63% Togekiss: 67%

Double Switch and I was right. Ok, so the chances he switches to Rotom are low since I used Surf last time. I can't use Thunderbolt since if I mispredict Lanturn could get healed. Rapid Spin is my best option, fuck Stealth Rocks!

Bologo-testing switched in Lanturn.
Starmie used Rapid Spin.
Starmie blew away the spikes!
Lanturn lost 3% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

Starmie: 67% Lanturn:83%

Yes, rocks are gone which mean I can switch freely without having to worry about taking that constant damage. Now last time he used Thunder Wave, since Starmie is Natural Cure I see no problem in take the status to get a nice free turn of healing.

---
Starmie used Recover.
Starmie restored 37% of its health.
Lanturn used Confuse Ray.
Starmie became confused!

The sandstorm rages.
---
Starmie: 100% Lanturn: 83%

Well, it has Confuse Ray + Thunder Wave so it's safe to assume that it is running Bolt Beam to. I switch to Celebi to take the on coming Thunder Bolt and to attack with Leaf Storm

Gen. Empoleon switched in Celebi.
Lanturn used Ice Beam.
It's super effective!
Celebi lost 36% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

---
Celebi: 52% Lanturn: 83%

Well that was more damage than I expected, no matter I want to use Leaf Storm but the -SpAtk wasn't very appealing to me at the time. I use Earth Power as a safe move if he keeps Lanturn in.
Bologo-testing switched in Rotom-s.
Rotom-s makes ground moves miss with Levitate!
Celebi used Earth Power.
Celebi's attack missed!
The sandstorm rages.

---
Celebi: 52% Rotom-s: 100%

That was a terrible turn, I'm back on the defensive which I have been on for almsot this entire match. I can't switch in Starmie and I can't leave Celebi in on fear of Shadow Ball, I go to my Heatran to take whatever move he uses and then dish back with a powerful Fire Blast.

Gen. Empoleon switched in Heatran.
Rotom-s used Shadow Ball.
It's not very effective...
Heatran lost 20% of its health.

---
Heatran: 80% Rotom-s:100%

I run Specs Tran so whatever comes in is getting a large chunk of it's HP knocked out. From looking at his team only Lanturn can really take a Fire Blast of Tran. So I am free do to as I please.

Rotom-s used Thunder Wave.
Heatran is paralysed! It may be unable to move!
Heatran used Fire Blast.
Rotom-s lost 100% of its health.
Bologo-testing's Rotom-s fainted.
The sandstorm rages
.
---
4-3 Gen. Empoleon shoop da whoop
Heatran: 80% +Paralyzed Rotom-s:Fainted

Ok, getting Paralyzed is no big deal. I'm not outspeeding much any time soon. Rotom goes down to my Spec'd Fire Blast. He could send in his Togekiss to Aura Sphere me, but I don't think that she can OHKO.

Bologo-testing switched in Rhyperior.

Heatran has done an incredible job, threatening his team and all but Rhyperior could cause some trouble if it has substitute. I decided that my safest bet was to keep Heatran in to either:
A) Get rid of his hopes of subbing
or
B) Die to a powerful Earthquake.
The latter seemed better since I then could switch in Celebi and take out some pokemon with his STAB's

Rhyperior used Rock Polish.
Rhyperior's speed was sharply raised.
Heatran used Fire Blast.
It's not very effective...
Rhyperior lost 52% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

---
Heatran: 80% +Paralyzed Rhyperior: 48%

Minor set back. He has Rock Polish now out speeding everything except for my Bullet Punch. Heatran dealed an amazing amout of damage with a not very effective attack in Sand against a rock type. I was out standed. Now it's time for Heatran to die so Scizor can be reaveled to all. I know the remaining pokemon that Bologo has he still has yet to face Scizor.

Rhyperior used Earthquake.
It's super effective!
Heatran lost 80% of its health.
Gen. Empoleon's Heatran fainted.
Rhyperior lost 10% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

---
3-3 Tie
Heatran:Fainted Rhyperior: 38%

Alright I expected that to happen. Now I have two options, switch to Starmie and hope to out speed him for the OHKO or switch to Scizor and hope Bullet Punch is a OHKO.

Gen. Empoleon switched in Scizor.

So I guess that the safest option is Scizor a Base 90 Priority attack is otherwise hard to come by. Rhyperior is going down easy style.

Bologo-testing switched in Lanturn.
Scizor used Bullet Punch.
It's not very effective...
A critical hit!
Lanturn lost 21% of its health.
Scizor lost 10% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

---
Scizor: 90% Lanturn: 62%

Critical or not Lanturn shrugs off the attack like it was nothing. My Scizor can't do anything to Lanturn so I switch to Starmie to take the Thunder Wave and or Confuse Ray.

Gen. Empoleon switched in Starmie.
Lanturn used Thunder Wave.
Starmie is paralysed! It may be unable to move!
The sandstorm rages.

---
Starmie: 100% +Paralyzed Lanturn: 62%

Ok, So now like always I will switch to Celebi so I can finally attack with Leaf Storm. That Lanturn has been causing me trouble for almost the entire game, and I'm sick of it.

Gen. Empoleon switched in Celebi.
Lanturn used Confuse Ray.
Celebi became confused!
The sandstorm rages.

---
Celebi:52% + Confused Lanturn: 62%

I have a 50/50 chance of Celebi surviving this turn and OHKOing with Leaf Storm, I don't like the odds but it's something that is my only option to do. None of my other pokemon can handle Lanturn.

Celebi is confused!
Celebi used Leaf Storm.
It's super effective!
Lanturn lost 62% of its health.
Bologo-testing's Lanturn fainted.
Celebi's special attack was harshly lowered.
The sandstorm rages.

---
3-2 Gen. Empoleon
Celebi: 52% + Confused -2SpAtk Lanturn: Fainted

Lady Luck has decided that I was the one to come out on top. I assume Bologo wanted to take the same odds as myself and hope for the OHKO. Now all that's left is a Togekiss and a Rhyperior. Oh yeah I forgot: FUCK LANTURN

Bologo-testing switched in Togekiss.

There isn't much more Celebi can do for me but be death fodder. I watch as my brave salad man gets torn to pieces.

Celebi is confused!
Celebi used Psychic.
Togekiss lost 20% of its health.
Togekiss used Air Slash.
It's super effective!
Celebi lost 52% of its health.
Gen. Empoleon's Celebi fainted.
The sandstorm rages.

---
2-2 Tie
Celebi: Fainted Togekiss: 47%

Celebi is gone and now the only pokemon I have that can deal damage to the bird... thing is Starmie. I also know that Starmie can OHKO Rhyperior so there's nothing that can stop me now.

Gen. Empoleon switched in Starmie.
Starmie used Surf.
Togekiss lost 36% of its health.
Togekiss used Roost.
Togekiss restored 50% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

---
Starmie: 100% Togekiss: 97%

I'm going to erase the next couple of turns because it's just me switching off Thunderbolt and Surf trying to whittle Togekiss down on health even though it keeps roosting. The end result is:

Starmie used Thunderbolt.
It's super effective!
Togekiss lost 51% of its health.
Togekiss used Encore.
Starmie got an encore!
The sandstorm rages.

---
Starmie: 100% + Encored Togekiss: 26%

Alright damn, this is a problem. I could switch in Scizor as I suspect he is going to switch in Rhyperior but if he doesn't Togekiss gets healed and this starts over again and Scizor gets lower and lower on health. If I do stay in he could switch to Rhyperior and Set up while I cannot do anything in return. This is a problem. My final decision was to do this:

Bologo-testing switched in Rhyperior (lvl 100 Rhyperior ?).
Gen. Empoleon switched in Scizor (lvl 100 Scizor ?).
The sandstorm rages.

---
Scizor: 90% + a smirking grin Rhyperior: 38%

I predicted correctly and now I have the advantage. I click Bullet Punch and watch as the mighty beast tumbles down.

Scizor used Bullet Punch.
It's super effective!
Rhyperior lost 38% of its health.
Bologo-testing's Rhyperior fainted.
Scizor lost 10% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

---
2-1 Gen. Empoleon
Scizor: 80% Rhyperior: Fainted

Only one more pokemon he can switch in. I guess that you can predict what will happen as of now. I'm actually really concerned. I don't play much with Scizor, so I don't actually know how much damage a Bullet Punch will do.

Bologo-testing switched in Togekiss.

Scizor used Bullet Punch.

Togekiss lost 26% of its health.
Bologo-testing's Togekiss fainted.
Gen. Empoleon wins!

Props:
Scizor, he did an end game sweep for me
Celebi, got rid of that fucking Lanturn
Starmie, Spinning and being a bulky mother
Rhyperior, for being used
Lanturn, for being surprisingly annoying
Heatran, killed Rotom and made Rhyperior able to be killed
Bologo, for that fantastic match
Slops:
Tyranitar did not do much besides start Sand Storm

If you want to change the sprites to match the battle ^^.

Also, very nice battle. Good predictions and counter predictions on both sides!

Nice match Gen. Empoleon! Also congrats for beating Bologo, I've always viewed him as a really good pokemon battler, especially with UU pokes.

Yup, that was probably your best one yet! A couple things, though:
It's "ado", not "adu".
The "fainted" variations still seem a bit forced. I know they're difficult, but if you're going to do them, make them awesome (if possible). For a suggestion, maybe when Rotom fainted, "got his circuits fried". Possibly.

They were not really forced, I woke up this morning only to realize I didn't press submit, so I'd though I would add more in. I did this was the outcome (only took like three hours, I blame the fact I had to put up Christmas lights)

Though thanks for the good reports guys and Math I'm fixing the ado problem

That was a pretty good match... but Bologo didn't really have a Gyarados counter... you probably could have swept right there o_o

Also, if Bologo is reading this, change your Rotom form, even if you don't have the special move, you can bluff it... like use Rotom-H and lure in Heatran, while scaring off Scizor and Lucario.

I've battled bologo's team before and got to say it's pretty good. Actually very similar to my own rhyperior team. We had a really good match, and this is a good one too. Good job as always Gen.

I spectated this match last night and it was a very fun match to watch. The warstory is good, but as was mentioned, I think you can do without the custom fainted phrases; they make me cringe, too.

Fine, I'll just make it the boring Fainted...

=[

Also how does a story get stars? I've never found this out

Great job, gets a thumbs up from me. This warstory makes me think that perhaps I should write another warstory pretty soon (expect to see one in the near future from me).

I particularly liked how you didn't include every single turn, since having every turn is usually a big turn-off in a warstory like this one that had lots of stally turns.

I really wish I was having a better night though, I made some obvious mistakes that I wouldn't normally make. However, I was losing so much yesterday that I started spazzing. This match was a nice change of pace though.

For instance, IIRC, I switched Skymin into Gyarados thinking that it only had Waterfall/Earthquake/Taunt instead of Stone Edge...god only knows why, but heh, ah well.

Anyways, thanks for the warstory, it was well done. ****

Also, Skiddle, I changed my Rotom's form to Cut just a little while after this match. Swamperts were really really annoying me all night (for some reason), and I decided that Air Slash wasn't doing much, so I wanted Leaf Storm.

Hey wow, thanks for the stars Bologo. :D Rotom Fan is way cooler than a lawn mower though

When we first saw Gen. Empoleon, most of Smognians thought of him as a joke when writing warstories. Soon he practiced and practiced writing till he waas better at it.. He soon gave us a fabulous warstory. That shows us what practice can do to someone. :P

Love your battle Gen. Empoleon.

Haha I remember the really bad first Warstory I wrote, it was so bad. Water under the bridge, I read through almost every story in the Archive and I guess just got better writing skills.

well, bologo's team makes me want to tear my hair out (and is also the reason I am no longer in voting range] ]]= ) so any warstory where it loses gets my approval ;D

great story :) this is the first one that has felt like a book to me, which means that I couldn't stop reading until I got to the end. good job :)

Hey nice warstory there Gen. Empoleon, very good read. Seemed like there were a ton of mind games at hand which I love to see how people handle, good job. ~Archived?~
