Oh I see, Heat Wave would still kill Bronzong though and damage smeargle using follow me. Maybe I'll give infernape Expert Belt or Life orb to boost heat wave

Im glad I already have my platinum game I have a lot of time to prepare.

i still dont know, hey anyone does a infernape with life orb or even expert belt have enough power to kill off a bronzong in one hit? with no crit.

Sadly, most of Bronzongs are Heatproof because there are few Ground Moves.
are your for real? seariously!! cause all day i was breeding for bronzors i was releasing all heatproofs and i got some great IV's on some but i thought they were bad.

If you're worried about Heat Proof, use Modest or Mild; a +SpA nature 252 SpA Life Orb Infernape's Heat Wave will OHKO Heat Proof Bronzong with a +SpD nature, but no SpD EVs always (min 100%). Any SpD EVs the Bronzong runs will diminish your chance of an OHKO, up to where if they run about 204 SpD EVs with 252 HP, it will live guaranteed with Heat Proof. At least that's what I'm getting from Metalkid's damage calculator...

I'm kinda surprised by that, did you remember to reduced the bp of heat wave since it hits multiple pokemon?

Ok, I ran some calcs with Bronzong and Infernape to clear up any questions and confusion; Shinryu, you did the calculations wrong. :P

I took into account the reduced power for Heat Wave and Heatproof (when necesssary). Here are the calculations:

1a. Expert Belt Naive 232 SpA Infernape Heat Wave against Relaxed Levitate 252 HP/100SpD Bronzong: 61%-72%

1b. same thing as 1a but Sassy Levitate Bronzong and 252 HP/SpD: 50%-59%; so always a 2KO if you run Naive with Infernape and Levitate with Bronzong.

2a. If Bronzong has Heatproof instead of Levitate, 1a changes to 30%-36. A 3KO if you are lucky.

2b. If Bronzong has Heatproof, 1b changes to 25%-29% - a 4KO(lol)

If Infernape has Focus Sash instead of Expert Belt, all of these numbers are reduced; for example, Heatproof Sassy Bronzong with 252 HP/SpD only takes 21%-24% from Heat Wave, instead of 25-29%, which is a 5KO(lol).

I even tried with Mild and max Sp. Attack, and here is the damage:

Mild Infernape with 252 SpA and Life Orb(basically trading items with Weavile) using Heat Wave:

against Relaxed Levitate Bronzong, 252 HP and 100 SpD EVs: 75%-87%.

against Sassy Levitate Bronzong with 252 HP/SpD: 66%-78%

against Sassy Heatproof Bronzong with 252 HP/SpD: 33%-39%

So, you can see that Heatproof drastically affects the damage dealt by Infernape and Heat Wave. micuat is right, most Bronzong nowadays are Heatproof since Earthquake is not really that commom, and there really isn't any other ground type move that is used. ;) Plus the Platinum move tutor has given Heat Wave to a lot of pokemon.

It doesn't surprise me that Dusknior is used over Bronzongon the molf team, since it's immune to Fake Out and takes less damage from Heat Wave, being that it has higher SpD and isn't weak to fire, lol.

ok well lets say its a double heat wave from infernape and Zapdos?

or zapdos goes with Sunnyday and infernape does heat wave?

ok well after reading some of the warstories from shhowdown 08 i got a little scared with the hack checking. see i use AR but only for Cloning/ Breeding/ Quick hatch/ and IV checking. will DQ me if i make it to the finals?

Haku16, you can never be too safe when it comes to qualifying for such a tournament. I'd really try to keep it as legitimate as possible, even though it may be alot more time consuming. In the end, the results will be all the more worth it.

Thats what i'm going to do. Getting a new platinum and trading the pokes over.

Already did that today! I have to inform my partner.Im not using ANY hacks on Platinum not even walkthrough or max money, too risky. Pokesav doesn't even work, not that i'd try it. Intense breeding is fun =/

um well the thing is im using my Diamond game not platinum when platinum does come out im going to trade over my bred pokemon from diamond to platinum. is that going to be a problem or should i start my game over and re-breed?

i put starting my game over as an option cause breeding the hard way takes along time and i need as much time when platinum comes out to practice doubles.

wait thats what i want to do but not sure if they would be considered hax's even though im trading over.

@Hazard

intense breeding is a pain. its not fun, IMO.

im only saying that cause i suck at IV breeding and i never have good parents to breed with so it takes about a month or two before getting a good pokemon with crap parents. unless any would help me with parents to re-breed pokemon?

If you have hacked your game, i would not risk it and just restart.
Every round there is at least one table that gets Hack Checked.
You are on Table 9 (that was the table that played on the wii) the game will check you.(The game is custom made for showdown, and has a EXTREMELY accurate hack check.)
If you make Top cut, you get checked.

Just imagine-you make cut and get checked...and get DQ'd.
not only is everybody watching, but also you had grasp of the trip and then lost it becouse you had used the AR.

yeah, your right. i really dont want that to happen. but the thing is i used and AR to quick breed and fast hatch in my diamond so when i trade those pokemon over will my game be considere hacked or not since its a new game? and i didnt hack my pokemon just hacked for breeding.

but either way i honestly think i should restart just incase. lol, i really dont want to take the chance at such a high level tournament. =D

Edit: ok thanks. i didnt see the edit you made until i re-freshed.

I dont know what the hack check Specificly looks for/dosent look for but i would not chance it. i have never put an AR or any other device in my DS EVER so i have no worrys :-p

like you said - this is a high level tournament. when trips are t stake, you dont take chances. the trip you win is like winning a vacation.

lol, alright ill start over sometime tomorrow i still have to get dittos from emerald and trade them over to Diamond to trade them to my bro's pearl. also i keep the pokemon i had before i used AR cause the only pokemon i used for AR are just 2.

micuat, I have a question. On the Japanese qualifier site, I can only find the results/names of the junior winners for each stop(it has their picture, a short description, etc). Is there something like this for the senior division, that lists the winner and second place finisher for each stop? I am unable to read much Japanese, otherwise I would try to go find it myself.

@haku16 = I would not use AR for anything if you plan on entering in Showdown. They can detect most, if not all, codes that you use, so it is smarter to play it safe than sorry. ;) Plus, it's just a better practice to not use AR for anything in Pokemon. :)

They have custom PBRs that automatically hack check the games and pokemon of the finalists? Interesting, I didn't know that. I knew they had changed the titles of a few things and such, but I didn't know they altered the code to hack check the games themselves.
