I hope you really are not being serious here. It isn't selfish for people to want to have children that are their own flesh and blood. For most people, the desire is to create their own children, parts of themselves.

I do not want to dismiss the medical importance of it, just simply say that I feel that medicine will one day become the Elixir of Immortality people have been looking for for centuries.
And cloning humans would be unethical because of the failure rate. It would cause the same stir that abortion does, only these would be babies born that we know only have a 12% (actually less) chance of living, and wouldn't live to old age anyway.

Or all women should be forced to take birth control, or have their tubes tied. Cuz incase you didn’t know abortions are not the safest thing to be doing over and over and over again. I have a co-worker who’s uterus if falling out and falling apart because of an abortion, and that was from the first abortion. So I guess you want everyone to just not have sex or not form a family since not all women can take birth control and it doesn’t work on all women. Or I guess you would just want all the men to have their balls cut off.
Don’t have the "right" to "imprint their genes. You have said some things that were just wrong and ridiculous, but this one takes the cake. If your parents were told that they didn’t have the “right” to imprint their genes then you wouldn’t exist.

Its called basic human rights. And most countries practice them.
Why should we value basic human rights and what are they? I don't care that most countries practice them, once upon a time most cultures practiced slavery and rape. You obviously don't seem to deem that behavior as correct or that a person has a "right" to enslave or rape.
Now, tell me, how do you compare slavery and rape to freedom of speech and right of choice?

Is it wrong to think "why"? Is it somehow wrong to question social norms, common morals, and ponder why should you say or think one way or another?
This my friend, is what philosophy is all about.
Then why is Lexite getting in such a hissy fit because someone states their beliefs that people don't have a right to have progeny (something I agree partially, dumb people and those who obviously aren't going to be good parents shouldn't have children) and states just as vague of an argument akin to "Just because".

So you dont care if a country follows and respects basic human rights. Ok, so you think it is fine that china forces people to only have one child and if they family has a second they have to abort the second. Or if the family has a girl first, you don’t care that that family just tosses the baby in the trash can? If you don’t care that other countries don’t follow basic human rights then you don’t care if the countries over in Africa are killing hundreds of people in genocides? And you think it's ok what the Nazis did to the jews in WWII?
You really need to grow up and take a look at the world if you don’t care if countries follow and respect basic human rights. And incase you didn’t know, not all countries supported slavery and not everyone agreed with slavery in the countries that did practice slavery.
Yes there are some people that should not bad allowed to have children because they would be harmful to the child, as in a know pedophile, cereal murders and those that are not capable of taking care of themselves. But Akuchi is not limiting it to those people and said everyone doesn’t have the right. Try to stay on topic.
And are you just dense or something. There is no such thing as "rights"? So people don’t have the right to live. We shouldn’t have laws to protect people. Ok, so no one has the right to live. You wouldn’t care if I went and killed your friends? Well they didn’t have any "rights"; I guess they didn’t have the basic right of life then.
And I am a she, not a he and yes I would hope that I can convince people that there are basic human rights. Other people respect people's rights to live and because they do others should too. You are just ignorant and cannot understand life and the world around you.
