CAP 7 CAP 7 - Art Submissions

Just a quick post to say some nice submissions here (though it seems to be centralized around either robots or knights x_x), and that I plan to have a rough draft of my submission by the end of the week.

Yes I agree. And some posts are just mostly copies of others.
Though I do like the post by Black_Dranzer because it is different. It is a VERY cool looking poke, it instantly stood out for me. The horse thing adds its 'scout'ness and it definately looks like a ghost/steel.

You know, DarthVader'shorse reminds me of a particular design of mine for CaP 4:

I was considering resubmitting it for this CaP if it turned out to be part Dark and maybe remodify it a bit for Ghost, but alas there's already an equine based submission...

Aw well.. Expect a design or two up by tomorrow.

My idea: Basically a possessed/demonic arrow.

Yeah, you could say I got tired of the knight idea. Anyway, my idea came from how scouts in fantasy are usually armed with bows and arrows. Arrows are fast and usually have some sort of metal for their heads. You can't really tell from the crappy/rushed picture, but the feather parts of the bow are supposed to be gaseous... kind of like Gastly's gas cloud. The main body/shaft was designed to look like a spinal cord. Oh, and to increase its value as a scout Pokemon, it has eyes on all four vertices of its head.

One thing I would specifically like feedback on are its pupils- should I keep them slitted or should I make them dots?

My second idea is what got me a little more. I'll start with a story...

A beautiful contest Pokémon with many beautiful ribbons was abandoned by its trainer at an altar. She waited an eternity for her trainer's return among the bells. She haunted the altar in the afterlife, and grew to be the most beautiful bell of them all.

Note: The story is just what the little village people came up with, I don't suggest that it is a legendary. It looks pretty feminine and could be a unigender Pokémon, but I can see it pulling off a Gardevoir and being mixed.

The colour scheme might be a little drab, I'm not sure what to do about that. I might colour the ribbons purple or something and see about that but I'd like suggestions.

This is a picture of it flying around, doing its ghostly deeds...

Here it is performing Rapid Spin, oddly enough. I realize the concept has very little to do with Rapid Spin, I just hought it looked like it could use it. x) Maybe Whirlwind instead?

I love this design and I'm sad that it didn't get much more attention. The Steel part of this design is lacking a bit and I believe that's because the bell it's bottom should represent isn't really looking like a bell on first sight. I just thought it was a toll, like Baltoy. You should more clearly seperate the bell and the clapper (that's the right word, I hope), looking as if the clapper could freely swing around the in the metal bell. Also, to me the ribbons don't really look like ribbons one could win in contests. Don't really know what they are and what I'm looking at.

Aside from this, I don't think a knight idea really reflects a scout. Like someone said, I would LOVE to see a ghostly (elf :P) archer or a ghost ninja in stealth mode. (Yee ninja pokemon not named ninjask).

Haha, good submissions all around guys. Every CaP never fails to disappoint in that area. My designs are a bit weird compared to all the knights and haunted machinery floating around, but they're not too bad.

I based this design off an interesting thing, the banshee. At first glance it looks like a girl in a dress with a hairband, but it's really a trick. I tried to achieve a steel feel without overpowering the ghost feel, and the end result looks decent.

Here's design number two:

This design is similar to Doug's design, in that they're both metallic skeletons. I decided to have a bit of fun with it though and made it mixed up. The parts are loosely held together magnetically, however some pieces were put in the wrong areas, making it look extremely mixed up. It has a foot and a hand on its legs, a hand and its tail end on its arms, and its other hand on its tail. Additionally, I made the ribcage messed up as well.

Any and all comments are welcome!

Sangularia: I'd go with the slits, personally.

Cy I personally like the feel of number 1, though it is a tad difficult to see any steel element. I'm hoping the coloring will remedy this though.

Heh, I was going for a Mawile-esque feel to be honest, though maybe going with a metalish color scheme would be a good idea.

Mawile-ish theme works.

I was thinking just general earthy colors like dark brown, gray and black might ring out that aspect a bit more too. Black is a neat color because it can represent both types without sacrificing anything.

Yup, that's clear for me, Cyzir's first concept has my vote regardless of colorscheme. I don't think any color scheme could mess up the great look.
I really want to see how the drawing is going to work out.

So far I'm into Caldbolg's trap, DathVader's ghost horse, and Doug's skeleton.

@Caladbolg:

I actually liked Knightmon better without legs. They make him seem too solid and bulky to be a scout. Then again, We've already made a legless Ghost in Revenankh.

I am surpised Kopie has not got as much attention, I like his too:

Hm, so far, there's only one design that I like... But I like it a lot! Doug's robo-skeleton looks great, in my opinion. The ribcase-less version looks better, as it has the right amount of skeleton-ness without looking that much like an actual skeleton, and looks also robot enough.

Great job so far, Doug!

It's almost like the more words i say, the less people talk to me.

Anyways, I took the silence as a hint. But i'm determined to be in the conversation! Not a single person has regarded my opinion ever since my first post. I will try anyways.

I think it's perfect! But anyone else can feel free criticize it. In fact, anyone can tell me it's ugly.

Edit: I asked a question on like... page 5... regarding my Phox's blurred legs. As usual, no one answered and I assumed it was okay. If you have to delete it because of that it's more or less everyone's fault.

I'm liking the latest update, Elegy of Emptiness, the tail is very cool as is the shading. I think maybe your design is not getting any comments because the face doesn't have any personality at the moment. I know you want it to look souless and dead but maybe try giving it glowing, malevolent eyes just on the head mask, just to see what it looks like?

Sanglunaria -
Your spinal arrow is a brilliant design! Can't think of anyways to improve. Keep the current eyes.

Doug and Atyroki are definitely the best. I'd also put X Presumtious in there.

Caladbolg - I think I like Trapmon better, but at the same time, Trapmon looks like a pre-evo of Knightmon.

Doug - If you embellish the eyes more, give it big pupils to give it a cute factor.

Actually, I like it a lot. It looks very mystical and I like the head and metal plates. I think it could be a legendary Pokemon. But the body seems too corporeal to me and doesn't look very ghostly IMO. Doug's is my current favorite, but yours is probably #2.

I absolutely adore Atyroki's design. Right now it is my favourite.

Three more I like are Doug's, EoE's and Cyzir's first.

I decided that I'd try my hand at drawing. Constructive criticism is welcomed. I need ideas for that hand. That, and I suck at drawing hands like no ones business.

Atryoki's and Cadabolg's(last)FTW! My two favourites so far!

@Atryoki: second Colour scheme looks best, IMO
@Doug: I like the ribcage best
