I considered no to all the pokemon I asked xD

Anyway, so these new forms are pretty useless, specially Giratina and Shaymin's, that can't even be used on Battle tower...

I have a few questions,

1. Will Trick Room always go last? I'm asking because I want to know if Imprison will always hit before Trick Room.

2. In a double battle, does Imprison affect both of the opponent's Pokemon or just one?

Hi, I'm here again with another question!
I have bought Pokémon Platinum recently and I want to make us of Pt's famous 'PRNG abuse'. However there is one problem: I don't have AR or .sav to check my Pokémon's IVs...

My question: Is there another way to check IV's without turning off your DS or without having to go online with the game?

If you use the Super Rod in the Resort Area, there's Magikarps at ANY level. If you fish up a high enough leveled one, you should be able to get a pretty good read on its IVs.

And for the previous question, Imprison is actually an effect on the USER, so both enemies will have the moves sealed. Even switching one of those enemies out won't help, the new guy's not going to be able to do the sealed move either.

Hi again,

My questions must be getting harder, not getting as many responses for them now! =)

Anyways, here goes a couple questions:

#1 - What uses (if any) are there for the following Pokemon:

Female Murkrow - 31/31/31/13/31/21 Impish
Male Togepi - 31/31/29/31/31/4 - Impish / Hustle / Nasty Plot

#2 - Just to absolutely double triple make sure: If my Male Togetic knows Nasty Plot but the Female Togetic doesn't- the baby will still learn it because it's an egg move, correct?

#2 - What are the important stats for a Togekiss, I'm going for NP Sweeper. Right now the three majors I am aiming at are x/x/x/31/31/31. Am I on the right track? Should I value HP or Defense over any of the above stats?

#3 - In my breeding process I am now at this point of it, with the following Pokemon accessible.

Modest Female Togepi - 9/22/25/31/31/18

Careful Male Honchkrow - 1/22/31/31/31/18 [Nasty Plot]
Impish Male Togepi - 31/31/29/31/31/4 [Nasty Plot]
Lax Male Togepi - 21/31/15/30/31/31 [Nasty Plot]
Jolly Male Togepi - 10/12/31/31/31/25 [Nasty Plot]
Rash Male Togepi - 9/25/4/31/31/31 [Nasty Plot]

The chance of a female from a Togepi egg is 12.5%. Meaning, if I want to get a female triple flawless Togepi then I will have to SR until I get a Modest Togepi with Serene Grace until I get the triple flawless (1/29 odds after I find the right mix of attributes).

If I go this route, it would eventually lead me to a Modest Female Togepi with triple flawless, and I could breed that with my triple flawless males- in hopes of a quadrouple flawless (Approximately 1/468 unless I am pairing things up wrong). This seems pretty farfetched, so it seems like my best route to go right now is just mass produce Togepi until I get a triple flawless with decent alternative stats- and just use that one.

Sorry for the epicly long post. I have wasted 30 hours trying to get this guy going. I figured I'd tackle I difficult breed situation first to get my feet wet and get used to how it works. I think I've made enough mistakes to teach myself a lesson and prevent myself from doing the same thing the next 300 times I breed something.

Thanks.

PS: HUSTLE, DIE IN A FIRE.

Anyone know of Pokemon Platinum rebattle codes? (I know I'm not really allowed to discuss them, but could someone PM me a site or something?)

Anyone know where the Water Stone in Sunnyshore City is? Serebii lists it, but being as vague as it is, I don't exactly know where. I have Diamond, so mining in the underground is a pain, but if that's the only route, I guess I could do it.

I suppose I could also just do an AR Code for 999 water stones. Meh. Too lazy.

@ Eeveeskitty: I would say attack, speed, hp, and either defense or special defense would be the 4 most important stats for a normal dd dragonite. Defense over special defense if you want a higher likelihood of surviving ice shards, special defense over defense if you have a habit of switching dragonite into grass, fire and water moves.

@gabriel: You can use the formes on link battles though, so they're not entirely useless.

@Vinceisg0d: They are both excellent parents, though the murkrow would need to be bred with a ditto if you want a good chance at a better nature.

Yes, egg moves are inherited if the father knows it, the mother doesn't matter for egg moves.

You should value hp over special defense for your togekiss as its special defense stat is naturally higher than its hp stat (also hp applies to physical defenses too...). However, hp is harder to inherit IIRC...

My advice is to get the triple flawless female, then soft reset breed. This gives you a much better chance of getting something usable as you won't have to deal with hustle or wrong nature babies. The 1/468 statistic is intimidating, but you don't have to get quintuple flawless.

Thanks =)

One question from your comment though, you say the 1/huge number is intimidating, but not necessary- yet you say I should SR for a triple flawless female... seems like a waste =)

I figure if I do rounds of 5 with a Modest Mother, I will end up with a triple flawless (or better) because of the sheer number of babies compared to the SR method.

Just trying to see things through all sides =)

No matter what method you use, having better parents is a worthwhile investment; it will increase the likelihood of inheriting good ivs.

The 'sheer number of babies' is negated by the fact that many of those babies will have hustle or an incorrect nature; if you use the sr method you will always have the right nature and ability, only the ivs will change each time. It's ultimately up to you, of course.

Thanks for elaborating, makes sense, I will always have the parent to re-breed if I need to =)

One last thing before I continue on my journey- is there some sort of guide or information page on cloning and redistribution? A lot of the trade threads say multiple people have the same Pokemon- how does this work legitly?

Thanks <3

What is the viability of using a choice specs lickililly? Set would be:

Lickililly@Choice Specs
Quiet-Own Tempo
252 SpA/252 Hp/4 SpD

-Fire Blast/Flamethrower
-Thunderbolt
-Ice Beam
-Focus Blast/Shadow Ball/Surf

His type coverage is exceptional and his bulk allows for him to take a few hits in the process. With Specs his Special Attack reaches 426, not the highest number but a respectable one for sure. Focus Blast lets him hit Rock and Normal types much better while Shadow Ball enables him to handle Ghosts and Psychics more effectively, namely Dusknoir and Cressilia who otherwise can wall him. Surf is there since it is his only other relevant special move.

Thoughts?

Ok, another series of simple noob questions.

What is this soft-reset method of breeding?

If I have 2 hacked parents with perfect IVs and they breed, is the result also "hacked?"

no, but most people don't consider it to be legit either, although i'm not sure if you can tell that its parents were hacked so basically its like an honor system. an honor system over the internet (/irony).

Has anyone tried picking Outrage with Assist in-game??? On Shoddy, you struggle after the first Outrage... is this correct?

I want my free Outrages :(

Yes, all fossils are avalible in Platnium.

Actually it's dependant on your Trainer ID. Even will get Armor, Odd will get Skull.

Make sure you're not choiced, because it will fail then.

How can you obtain a Smeargle with four Sketched moves at level 1 (in Pokemon DPP)?

Sketch move, Heart Scale to relearn Sketch, repeat.

No I don't have a choice Item. With a choice item assist will fail. This time my Pokemon struggled. And I couldn't switch it.
