Like I said, the skateboard rumour and everything else originated from 2ch. I thought the scans were confirming that but was wrong. Scans did not to my knowledge. The information about those (as well as the September 11th release date) came out BEFORE the scans but around the same time as the scan of the cover.
 
Hmph. The new girl looks like Toadette. Hang the cow, she has ruined Johto forever.

See, this is exactly why I didn't want a DS remake of Gold and Silver. The only thing that'll turn me is artwork of Silver.

Yeah, that skateboard source appears to have just been copied from the same source I pointed out, so it doesn't add any validity. Personally, I don't really see much point in the Skateboard; it might be cool, but I'd personally rather just have something like the Acro Bike back, especially since more can be done with that than a skateboard.

And no, it doesn't appear that the starters following you is temporary, due to scans from the latest CoroCoro:

In the scan with the big picture of Gold, you can see a picture of Gold with Cyndaquil by him, near what I'm guessing is the sprite tower. The Wobbuffett picture also shows Gold talking to a Rocket Grunt near the Slowpoke well, with what appears to be Croconaw (although it might just be Totodile; hard to tell) next to him. So yeah, the starters definitely continue to follow you, even after you give Elm the egg.

I agree, I'd much rather have the Acro Bike back from RSE, it was funny doing hops and stuff on it. They should add in more tricks if they feel to include it.

I hope there is more info tomorrow. :nerd:

Yeah, I know. Kris wasn't introduced till Crystal as the first female character. But still, it feels like this new girl was just pulled out of thin air. I guess it's just a personal feeling, though. Their hairstyles are rather similar - both of them have pigtails, at least.

I just wish her overall color scheme didn't remind me so much of the girl from firered/leafgreen, where they didn't originally have a girl character either. ;x At least G/S/C had a girl already. It doesn't seem like they'll make a Crystal remake, in any case. Her design is a bit generic ;<
 
Well if the girl's design has such a controversy why dont everyone just play as silver? after all he does have the best male sprite in the series.

Yeah, I don't really get why people let things like this get to them; just ignore it and go with the other character if you don't like her. It's nothing worth getting worked up over, or letting ruin your enjoyment of the games.

(And I think you mean Gold, since he's the main character; Silver is the rival.)

At least we know, that the starter following you lasts longer than what everyone expected. I wonder if they stop following you when they evolve and then proceed to stay in thier pokeballs o.O

what is there to suggest that dive will ever be an HM again? dive wasn't even a move when G/S came out so I see no reason why they would add it as an HM now.
 
The new girl, 'Soul', looks weird. I wish they used Crys, but knowing Game Freak, they have a reason for why not, as I said on BMGF and Serebii.

I think the girl in Crystal was meant to have more of a tomboyish look - since by their reasoning, most girls playing at that time (or would play if there was a girl character), so they made it similar to the audience they were trying to appeal to. May in RSE kept this sort of pattern.

But Dawn - and Leaf as well -, in my opinion... she just has so much more of a... feminine... look, if you understand, since from my understanding, many girls play Pokémon as well nowadays (at least younger ones), and they are trying to appeal to another audience now (the more 'girly girl' girls).

In plain terms, this is simply a marketing decision based on the audience they already have, and the new audiences they are trying to appeal to.

Typhlosion isn't the one that dies when his flame goes out. That Achilles heel belongs to the Charizard line. As said before Dive might not return, and if it does I doubt they will force you to lead with a Water Pokemon to dive. Even if they do that it shouldn't really effect anything.

edit: I just read the post below yours. Dive was not a TM in G/S/C. They are certainly not going to add a new TM that wasn't even in that generation.

Actually, I think that is the Burned Tower. I just played through Silver and I remember it being in that general landscape with the path on the left and everything.

As for the Slowpoke Well, I see a new little overworld feature (as far as I know it is new). Look behind the Rocket Grunt. There is a slope that runs down toward the well. IIRC the only way to previously go down lower levels were stairs or mud slopes. Here we have a smooth little hill to walk down.

Ever been to a Catholic school before? Girls wear socks like that all the time. They're called stockings. Personally I'm a bit miffed about Gold's short pants, but that's my only complaint. It looks like he's wearing capris.

And Lugia's new artwork is awesome.

Goddamn. I wonder how you reacted to the character art for the male character in RSE and DPP.

Also, I only found out today that the main character of RSE doesn't have white hair. That's just a hat. Crazy.
 
Am I the only person here who misses Gold's original art? The new clothing and lack of weird hair doesn't feel right...he kinda lacks the casual personality.
At least he looks better than the milkmaid.

Hopefully his in game sprite > his official artwork.

Speaking of artworks:
Blissey, Larvitar and Miltank's artworks look pretty nice. Especially Miltank with its bouncy look. I'm waiting for Skarmory and Tyranitar's artworks.

Lugia looks like it wants to arm wrestle/strangle something. Reminds me of DPPt Groudon's sprite. Either way, it's awesome

Ho-oh tries to be cute but that obviously can't happen. It looked more fierce in the G/S artwork...at least it got a color revamp.
 
The new girl isn't terrible, she's just ultra generic.

I love the new artwork for the pokemon. Stantler is such a cutie.
