Theres a strange gastrodon form? is it on serebii
Hey, I just remembered something. Remember how there was that strange unused Gastrodon form? Maybe it's Johto Gastrodon.
Assuming NEP cannot become a normal Pichu, it's forever stuck in HG/SS. The only way NEP could revert to a normal Pichu is if GameFreak used one of the unused bits in the Pokemon checksum to denote an alternate sprite, but kept the same index number for the Pokemon itself, so that DPPt just views the bit as nothing and ignors it.
Will NEP have a seperate set of level-up moves, or will it have a different gender ratio or base stats? If so, then it will have to stay in HG/SS. In any other case, they may have developed a workaround.
In the event that NEP is just a cosmetic alteration of a normal Pichu with some event moves (moves it cannot relearn with Heart Scales), then it also opens up the door for any other "visual quirks" GameFreak wants to implement in any other Pokemon. Say... uh... a Sharpedo with a scar over one of it's eyes, or a Mawile with a striped pattern, etc.
So, likewise, if they used one of those blank checksum bits to denote a range of Pokeball sprites outside the usual range (Heavy Ball, Level Ball, etc.), they could also assign it a normal pokeball bit for... say a regular pokeball. When a Snorlax in a Heavy Ball is located in HG/SS, it would show as being inside a Heavy Ball, as the game would know to override the Pokeball bit for the Heavy Ball bit. However, when traded to DPPt, the normally unused bit would be discarded, and it would show up as a normal Pokeball.
But, as I recall, it wasn't legally obtainable, and you needed a Gameshark to get it.
Basically, if NEP is just a regular Pichu with a different sprite, then everything should work just fine. BUT. But, if NEP has any other major differences to a normal Pichu, like stats, gender ratio or learned moves, then you'll never be able to trade it to DPPt.
The Pikachu-coloured one has Endeavor. The Notch-Eared one does have Pain Split (see around 1:40 in the video). You have the Pikachu-coloured one.I would just like to correct the misconception that Pichu has Pain Split. It doesn't! I have one and Pain Split was a mistranslation. It actually just has Endeavor.

If I'm not mistaken, there are several unused bits in the Pokemon checksum, still. So really, it's still a coin toss.

All just theories, mind you.
It's the official name for it, and we're using it to distinguish between the event Pichu and an ordinary shiny Pichu.Just wanting to make sure, why is everybody calling it 'Pikachu-colored Pichu'? isn't it the same color as shiny Pichu? or is it not a shiny but with a different color (Pikachu's)?
It's just a shiny Pichu... The only new alteration is the Notched-Ear Pichu.I have to say this....why do they need slightly altered pichus?
I just noticed all this and...PIKACHU COLORED PICHU?
Honestly it makes not sense to me, it seems like a copout.
I hate 'transfer this extra special Pokemon and get something awesome!' Pokemon.
Well thats not special at all.
I still think notched ear thing sucks.
It's not a 'remake', but rather a third installment, just like Yellow/Emerald/Platinum, but yeah they won't make a 'Crystal remake'.er pokerade, there wont be a "crystal version", crystal was a remake of g/s. A remake of a remake sounds crazy eh?

haha, a third installment of the game as in a...remake?
though is there anything more that needs to be known about hg/ss or is the bulk of info over
a remake would be pretty nearly the same in storyline the same, crystal is not the same, the story line is quite different, but yeah nintendo didn't make electric yellow they won't make ____ crystal either
Well, we could use more information on more pokemon. Specifically if Celebi and Mewtwo are available in the games.
He's working with the theory that they're cramming in like everything that isn't in Platinum (apart from events). I mean, nobody would have expected the weather trio to show up, but they did. It seems the only remaining mysteries are Mewtwo, Celebi, and the Kanto and Hoenn starters.IIRC Mewtwo wasn't in the original G/S. It was 'captured' by another trainer before. If Nintendo decides to follow the same storyline, I don't think there will be a Mewtwo available.

No one ever said Mewtwo was caught. Maybe defeated, but not caught. Actually, it was never said if Red even entered the Cerulean Cave, what's known is that the entrance (and maybe only the entrance) collapsed.
