HGSS Megaspeculation Thread

He never mentioned anything about it not being a good money making tactic. All he did was express his dislike of the Hoenn region in a G/S remake.

I think you need to get over the fact that your argument earlier was inconclusive, since you have been scrutinizing my last few posts. Besides, pointless posts on forums are looked down upon, so I was just explaining to him that if he was trying to make a point, it was incorrect.

Play-Asia HG description
How do people come up with this stuff?

On another note, BoozeVGC's post earlier had a major misconception that actually seems pretty common, and it's really bugging me. You do not get Arceus in these games. You transfer the event one to have it do its thing. Just like Pikachu-coloured Pichu, and nobody makes that mistake with it.

It's feasible that the Azure Flute event could be downloaded to players of Platinum/HG/SS, though. It's yet to be given out over Wifi.

My guess is they'll wait a while, so that people remain excited about the movie event downloadable Arceus.

I really don't understand how the follower/HM thing is going to work. In previous games, you had to be right next to the object you were using the HM on for it to work. But now, it shows the Pokemon between you and the object.
Do you interact with something like the rock or the tree, and then the Pokemon temporarily switches tiles with you while it uses the HM? Is it possible the Pokemon with the required HM comes out when need be, then returns when it is done? I hope you don't need to put it in front, because it's going to be a pain in the ass to switch your party around just to use HMs.

Although, as far as I know at least, the whole idea of the first Pokemon in your party being the one that must follow you is still just hearsay. I haven't really seen any reliable sources that say this. I think people are just making assumptions. It would be far more efficient to just have a "Follow" option along with Stats, Switch, Fly, etc for each Pokemon in the party menu.

So, HMs are only usable when you have the required pokemon with you. Considering that Chikorita used Cut and Tyranitar used Rock Smash, I believe that you will have to swap which poke is currently following you to use x HM. Maybe then Surf will use the poke's actual sprite, and not just the ambiguous whale thing?

i was under the impression the game would automaticly just withdraw the poke beside you and bring out the one with the hm. It would then revert back to the origional pokemon that was beside you.

The trailer shows that Soul was right next to the cut tree, and then Chikorita stepped foward and used Cut.

I guess we can say for sure you don't have to have a pokémon following you; you can clearly see on the trailer that Gold did not have any pokémon following him on Blackthorn Gym.

It could possibly be that Pokemon do not follow you indoors.

You can turn it on or off maybe? Or they could just go down the route they did with Yellow in which your lead follows you?

Nah, one of the trailers showed a trainer challenging one of the gyms with the Pokemon still following behind.

Yes, Chikorita was following Soul as she approached Morty. It basically 100% confirmed that it's not required to have a Pokemon following you because of that Blackthorn footage.

Leaks from CoroCoro should come soon. I'm hoping for Team Rocket coverage, Apricotn tree confirmation and stuff on Pokemon Races (I think these were proven by the movie's trailer and the new Johto map). Future-Kanto information would be nice too.

As for what'll follow me, I'll probably mix things up a lot. It'll probably be one of Gengar/Lucario/Alakazam, but if something has a kickass outdoor sprite I'll let it out.

And I'm pretty sure in Yellow Pikachu followed you no matter what party slot it was in.

?_? Care to explain

In addition to that, I believe that in the same video, when Soul is having Chikorita use Cut (at about the 31 second mark), a lone pine tree out of soil can be seen, which I'm pretty sure is a Headbutt tree:

If that's correct, it's nice to see it being kept in.

As for me, right now I'm planning on having either my Exxegutor (if I go with it; I'm also considering going with Victreebel for my Grass-type) or Feraligatr follow me. I might also go with Magneton, if it has a good sprite.

Yeah; you can get Kyogre in Gold and Groudon in Silver, and if you put both Kyogre and Groudon into one cartridge through trading, you'll also be able to catch Rayquaza in that game. That's been known for a bit now (like at least a week or so). Has nothing to do with that silly "going to Hoenn" stuff on PlayAsia or anything.

Well do you think that they'll just appear in Johto :P. I don't think so, you'll definately have to travel to Hoenn to get these. They are not roaming.

Heh, I pointed that tree out a bit earlier, except I believed it to be an Apricorn tree. Headbutt trees were never lone trees like that before and iirc always were touching large trees. I suppose they could have been changed though.

As for Pokemon Races... Well, apparently at the end of the special showing of the Arceus movie there was a HG/SS trailer and part of it showed what appeared to be a "race". And also apparently, it seems that the new area west (?) of National Park is a racetrack. That is just what I've been picking up while browsing other forums.

...Not really. Faraway Island/World's Edge Island in FR/LG for Celebi wasn't actually Johto, after all. Similarly, Birth Island (Deoxys) was just another part of the Sevii Islands; you didn't actually go to Hoenn. Again the same with Navel Rock, and no need to go to Johto for Lugia and Ho-oh. It'll just be something like that. This especially won't be a problem based on Emerlad, where the Terra Cave and Marine Cave (where you caught Groudon and Kyogre) were constantly moving, so it's hardly farfetched to simply have them moving across Johto (unless it actually said somewhere that Kyogre and Groudon aren't roaming legendaries in HG/SS, and even then, Marine Cave and Terra Cave could simply be made stationary). Hoenn's definitely not needed to get them, and it's inclusion still would make no sense whatsoever and is 99% guaranteeably not going to happen.

Edit: Yeah, it could also be an Apricorn tree. But it just looks like more of a pine to me (which the Headbutt trees were), especially being topped with what appears to be snow. But I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.

There's a couple of proposed new locations (like the area west of Cianwood), and they could also just add a new cave somewhere; they have the whole of Kanto assuming it's included, and they wouldn't include the Hoenn region just for the legendary you can catch there.

Furthermore, Platinum didn't include Kanto just to get the Legendary birds.

I doubt that Kyogre and Groudon will be roaming (since Kyogre is limited to ocean routes), but Rayquaza might. But the idea of including Hoenn is laughable.

Excuse me but when have they ever add something to the region in a remake.

Yea, infact, you quoted me perfectly. I said they're not roaming.

It's not like they're going to add Hoenn to Johto, you will just be able to travel there via cruise etc. Roaming means they randomly fly around the map I.E mesprit, cresselia, in platinum, they didn't need to add kanto to have roaming pokemon. And I don't know any uber that has ever roamed. legendary dogs, birds, Lati@s, Cress, and Mesprit are roaming pokemon. Most of the other ones you find in a fixed location such as Terra Cave or Marine Cave, or Navel Rock.

Marine and Terra Cave were not fixed locations. While Groudon and Kyogre themselves were not roaming in Emerald, their location were (to a lesser degree than Mesprit/Dogs and friends).

Nintendo will not allow 3 regions in one game. It would completely kill the possibility of a Hoenn remake in Generation 5.
