Pause at 0:31, look in the top right corner.

Does anybody else take this as a big sign (~90% confirmation) that the Apricorn Balls are returning? Even if that is just a berry tree, it still shows that the berry/apricorn system is reverting to the GSC way, which in turn still points to Apricorn Balls.

There is the off chance that it's just a headbutt tree, but it isn't likely. Headbutt trees were very widespread in GSC, not a lone tree. Apricorn and berry trees however were always alone.

At 0:40 we see the player (along with their Chikorita, proof that Pokemon will be able to enter some buildings at least) approach Morty, with no Gengar in sight.

didnt most the apicorn balls kinda suck? i didnt like any of them. besides... dusk ball wasnt one was it?

Actually a lot of the apricorn balls were useful.

Level Ball, Lure Ball, Fast Ball, Heavy Ball, and Love Ball were the most useful.

*For comparison please keep in mind that an Ultra Ball has a 2x catch rate.

Level Ball
  • The same or lower than the wild Pokémon's: 1×
  • Higher than the wild Pokémon's: 2×;
  • Double or more than that of the wild Pokémon's: 4×;
  • Four times as much or higher: 8×
Lure Ball: 3x rate for hooked Pokemon

Fast Ball: 4x rate for Pokemon that flee (Abra, the Legendary Dogs, etc...)

Heavy Ball:
  • Between 100kg* and 200kg*: +0
  • Between 200kg* and 300kg*: +20
  • More than 300kg*: +30
  • Under 100kg*: -30
Love Ball: 8x rate for Pokemon of the opposite gender.

Love Ball had an 8x capture rate for Pokemon with the opposite gender as yours. Dusk Ball has a 4x for Pokemon encountered at night/in a cave. Also a fun fact of trivia: no Poke Balls outside of some of Kurts have an 8x capture rate.

Level Ball had an 8x capture rate if your Pokemon was 4 times the level of the wild Pokemon, and a 4x capture rate if your Pokemon was double the level of the wild Pokemon.

All of the balls have their uses, plus they are easily the most badass looking Poke Balls. Real men use Love Balls.

<3 Kurt. Best old man in Pokemon. I don't do the Battleground or berry growing or shit like that daily, but I'll give Kurt apricorns daily no matter what.

Edit: Oh, and for the record, the 3rd and 4th gen Poke Balls are NOT like Kurts. They all behave differently (Friend/Luxury, Fast/Quick, Level/Nest, all of them have different but similar effects).

They should have an HM for running, like in Pokemon Ranger, where you ride the Doduo all over the place. Now that would be cool...

Just what we need, a potentially useless move that forces us to waste valuable move-slot space. (When I say useless I mean useless in battle)

I really hope that one day they just get rid of HM's and replace them with vehicles/tools, or that they become innate skills that can be used out of battle and do not require a moveslot.

But then what will become of Surf? :(

Well I'm sure the metagame could deal with the loss of the move Surf. Personally I would gladly give up Surf in exchange for not having to carry around 2-3 HM whores.

Anyway there isn't any point in talking about it. I seriously doubt that they will ever get rid of HM's.

Surf could always become a TM, that way you could still use it in battle. Much like Flash did. They have never removed moves from the game, I doubt they'd do it with anything as major as Surf.

I'm pretty sure those numbers where the number of steps you're taking, it is a pedometer after all

Yes, 1=1, like I said. Your statement makes no claim which diverts from my hypothesis, 1 step in real life = 1 exp point.

If Surf goes away(which it won't), I will destroy my game.

All i was saying there is absolutely nothing to make you think that 1 step = 1 exp point

its not a hypothesis its a wild guess. All pedometers have a step counter on them and it is foolish for them not to display it while you are walking

Actually, it is not a wild guess, since, yes, the device does operate like a pedometer, however, it would also be relevant to assume that the number is directly related to pokemon, is it not? I didn't see another number on the screen, which leads me to believe that 1 step = 1 experience point.

No it would not be relevant to assume that. Your thinking goes like this:

The device is a pedometer. A pedometer shows the number of steps taken. Therefore the number of steps taken must equal the number of exp gained per step.

Do you not see a very large gap in that logic?

It doesn't have to show you the exp gained. It could vary depending on the Pokemon's level, and multiple other factors. There is no way to tell whether it is 1 exp per step, or 1 exp per 10 steps. You cannot make a statement like that without first playing the game, and then calculating the exp per step.

I guess we just have completely opposite thinking, then. The way I see it, first and foremost, the device is a pokemon device. It just happens to operate like our known pedometers.

BTW, this is a forum, last time I checked, I can make a statement about something if there is the slightest of obscurity.

its pretty good that they are making the remake of the most famous games of the series,i hope they still let us have 16 badges and trave to kanto just like in the original, also i hope they let us catch celebi instead of just hacking our way into(i dont like, neither use celebi, but oh well)still, some changes would be nice, not only having your starters following you,but other pokes like lucario or maybe human sized pokes, because a palkia following you would be weird, from what i also could see there will be mini animations of the pokes using HM moves like cut or rock climb, showing the pokemon doing instead of just the effect and flashs(lol)but anyway,it look like the game will be fine,i barely can wait for 2010,lots of stuff is happening in that year, also changing the female character was a waste, its not like people will bother about that, and this wont have any impact on the selling, another thingy i could see was that for arceus, you need to get dialga, palkia and giratina, but i dont know the details...we just need to wait for the game to come out,i am getting soul silver, heart gold sounds dumb to me.

You need to read up in this thread more. All pokes will follow you. Also, the arceus is the other way around. You need to get an event arceus and trade it from dppt to HGSS to unlock 1 of the 3 pokes that you are then able to catch at level 1.

More like you refuse to acknowledge the huge gap in your logic.

Yes you can make a statement like that, but it is a statement based on nothing but pure conjecture. So while you can make it, it isn't very wise to do so. I would say that you can't call your statement a hypothesis, but you might take what I say literally again.

You should know that when people say the word "can't" that it does not always mean that you are physically unable to do so. This also applies to the word can. When someone asks if you can lend them a dollar they are clearly not asking if you are physically able to do so.

Think this was brought up before, but i'm gonna share it again because it's pretty funny. http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc177/Nate_Dono/nyanko4-4.jpg

Anyway, love the new videos. The team rocket animation looks cool. I also think that it will be like firered where you can only get evolutions after e-4. And mayby find hoenn/sinnoh pokes after e-4? And rebattle gym leaders and e-4. Lance with salamence, flygon, kingdra, dragonite, garchomp and altaria anyone? But I guess that wevile will destroy everything but kingrda.

Thanks for sharing I hadn't seen that yet. :D

Geeze, some of you guys like to argue about the dumbest stuff.

There was discussion about the sprites awhile ago, what you have to remember is that the new sprites are going to be based on the new artwork. So if you look Feraligatr looks "weird" compare the new Lugia with the old Lugia. Same pokemon but it still looks different.
