You can actually get to the Lake Of Rage without surf, just go through Mt. Mortar, sucks it is Dark in GS.

I think instead of placing a guard at the Mahogany Gym, they should just place guards in the route that actually leads there. This way, one doesn't waste time going back and forth?

There's a lv 50 snorlax you can catch by vermillion. The toughest non pewter city wing wild pokemon in the WHOLE GAME.

Well, you can always play GSC underleveled (As I do) for some challenge :3

Believe me, with some levels down the game it's hard as hell (If you dont use potion, pokemon centers often and play in "Battle style: set" also, it's like setting the game in "Hard")

I cannot wait for this, I think it will be great, especially if they update Kanto.

and to ^ most of all of the Pokemon games have not been that hard, I rarely find myself challanged unless I am trying to be underleveled or I am running from a lot of battles out of boredom.

Yeah, I rarely struggle in any pokemon game. The only time I ever used potions was for the E4, and even then, after the first go-round, it was incredibly easy.

They need difficulty levels like most other games do, but of course Game Freak isn't going to do it, because of the 8 year old fan base complaining that the game is too hard, which is why hacks of the games are created.

I'm not aware of any RPG with a difficulty setting, including Fallout, Oblivion, and World of Warcraft, which is pretty top-notch. The online multiplayer experience is supposed to be the more difficult area, although I prefer shoddy battle for that.

Actually, Oblivion does have a difficulty slider. It's right there in the options menu. You can adjust it whenever you want.

Also, the Platinum E4 was quite a bit more difficult to deal with compared to D/P

The Rival in GSC was kind of a bad guy though. At least two of his pokemon are stolen.

seriously, how does the old art of Silver look 'badass'? He looks fat, short, awkwardly chunky hair... He just looks like the fat kid who bullies the other kids. (Oh and he he needs to learn how to dress).

At least the new art work makes him look like a (moderately) normal person, and and he looks pretty shady / suspicious. You people need to get the god-damn nostalgia glasses off and stop talking about how he looks already! If it's going to ruin your experience don't buy the game nobody is forcing you.
