HGSS Megaspeculation Thread

I hope there is some type of music player in there that allows you to play any music in the game you have heard. They should incorporate that into the radio.

I hate that I have to play through LeafGreen to listen to the Champion music (which is so awesome!).

Yeah, I hope they have a music player too. And that the music guys upgrade the synthesiser or something (some of it sounds a bit cheap lol). The tunes are there, but the synthesizer spoils it a bit. And if they did an orchestral CD, I would buy it. Ace Attorney's had a ton of orchestral concerts, so Pokémon deserves at least one huge big epic one. But then again where did they give out Concert Chatot? Maybe they did one, but I've never known how good it was.

And as an additional bit of trivia, Junichi Masuda's signature is apparently really complicated with a load of musical notes involved. Somewhat fitting for music composer.

Yeah I also thought you could never turn off the background music in the previous games. And I don't see any reason for them to "hide" the music from us as we saw the exact same trailer in Japanese but with music. I don't understand why they would go to lengths to implement effects like different-sounding footsteps unless the games offered a way for you to hear them. By the way I opened Crystal and tried to play the game without any background music by choosing a silent channel on the radio; it didn't work.

I think it is to give some difference between the type of pokemon,
Since Luiga is the Under-water king, and Kyorge the Water-king.....
Whilst
Ho-oh is the "fire king" and Groundon "Land-king'
But this is probarally wrong <_< can't explain it right.

You're close, at least. Ho-Oh's name in kanji iirc basically translates to "Fire King" (Ho in kanji means fire, oh in kanji is a term for king).

The weather trio, however, don't have a name like that. Instead, they're based off the Hebrew Titans Leviathan, Behemoth, and Ziz. I guess Nintendo wanted to make the games have a li'l of both water and fire somehow. (Though both Lugia and Ho-Oh are in either game... ;>_>)

It only makes sense that these games will be considered 4th gen games, since FRLG were the same gen as RSE, but in the article it states this

Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version bring dozens of Pokémon characters back into the limelight for a new Pokémon generation – and longtime fans – to catch, train and battle.

Will HGSS be a 5th gen game? Sorry if this has been asked before.

I think it means 'a new generation of Pokemon fans', since it then goes on to say "and longtime fans". HG/SS will be considered 4th gen most likely, since there are no real battling system changes.

That is somewhat what I mean.

No it won't it's a remake; Just like FR/LG

I hope music will be good, since (As i see it) since Plat. the music is pretty good :)

To be fair, I've heard the amount of Japanese you'd actually need to know to play the games is a good Elementary Schooler's worth, which would make sense, considering its demographic. Could be wrong, but that's what I've heard...

Actually you don't need to know any japenese, I played through platinum without knowing any, with little trouble. Anything you would need to be able to read has a picture with it anyway, so just look at that, for moves just load up the screen and look at the type accuracy and power you should be able to figure it out from that

You can't just go onto Youtube and listen to it??

Ability to move Pokemon between the PC and your party by using the Touch Screen? Very nice :D

Edit: @Naokiri: Yeah, the trailer that auto-plays isn't new. However, I believe the last one in the list is.
The thing is I saw the last one on the list on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday of last week. I'm not quite sure when it went up, but it isn't quite a breaking news moment.

Edit: Hm, most likely late Friday, or sometime on Saturday. Either way it was late last week.

So it was posted on either Saturday or Friday, its Monday now and I assume people were doing other things on the weekend meaning they didn't get a chance to see it on the site, it may not be new to you but its still new to others, I don't see what the problem is here.

Nice to see that the PC is right next to the counter in the Pokecenter; you no longer have to go all the way the back of the room to access the PC. Also I wonder why there are two staircases going up. Do you think it's just a cosmetic thing and that you can access the same stuff from either staircase?

Glad to see they are making more use of the touch-screen.

What are we waiting for now that we didn't already know? Mewtwo and Lati@s?

Nothing really, now we just wait for the game, the last Coro Core already came out, unless Pokemon Sunday reveals something more (have no idea if it airs weekly), then we probably wont get any more news till we actually play through it.

... I honestly don't like the look of Goldenrod City. Don't know why, it just seems all... Well, strange. It just appears to be a stereotype of a slum in a big city, and not a golden metropolis. :/
